Yes I guess it can be done on the cheap but many people use the exchange system and it works well, I can buy a book in Canterbury Tales Bookshop that was 350 baht in Asia books a few days before for 160 baht and then get 50% of that back in credit when I have read it thus reading a very recently published book for about 1 pound 50 gbp where it was 7 quid from Asia books. Also when I buy new books maybe at the airport at least I can trade it in at the Canterbury and very rare that I go in there and they dont have any books I have not read, they have just about all books by all the main Authors

Me and the Lady occasionally use the Thai buffet along 3rd road just along from Tony's gym, its the cook yourself type, you go to the middle area where all the fresh meats are, chicken, pork, beef, liver, kidney, fish, prawns etc etc, they also have chicken drumsticks and various other bits ready cooked as well as a whole fish can be ordered ready cooked. You then get the small barbie thing at your table and just add the meat and a few mins and its cooked, then eat and put veg in the stock around the edge and then you have a nice soup, one thing to remember though is when you take off cooked

it didnt look like that in the picture when I had it, I dont like the fatty bacon too, the sausage wasnt bad but the hash brown had shrunk somewhat and the toast is the small thai stuff. Not bad though for the money

I normally stay at Canterbury Tales Cafe, reason being the rooms are a good price, the food is good, the book choice/price is 2nd to none in Pattaya and the regulars very knowledgeable about Pattaya. There is a mix of ex-pats and holiday makers as well as a steady flow of newbies who stay there, we normally put on the right track when they are there, most days between 10am & 2pm the place is full out front and great banter and many of the local opposition cannot offer what Canterbury Tales offers. Soi Bauhkow can be a bit noisy as its such a busy area now but many of the off shoots from it are OK, I normally stay at Canterbury Tales Cafe and no noise problems there, so good bars in this soi too now.

I buy books often from there but I do stay there so I would do, there are so many and yesterday I noticed just about every Harlen Coben book on the shelves and I am a fan and all his new ones were there, I have 3 of them now.

Metro has no character, its all very concrete and a couple of good bars but many bar owners spend most of their time slagging off all other bars and bar owners, so much so that many people I have talked to stay away. Yes its quiet because of that, the biggest problem with these type of bars is they have girls working downstairs and they ply for your business and if they dont get it they drop snide remarks to the girls you bring back and even try to mess it up for you.
