Anyone else noticed a drop in food quality at PBG lately?
Jantrevor replied to frostfire's topic in Restaurants and food
If you buy a martini or similar drink and the barman gives the excess to the staff you are being cheated out of part of your drink. If the staff makes a smoothy or milk shake and gives you only half a glass full, then you are being shorted and should ask for a refund. The staff probably makes extra so they can have some, and this is cheating the bar owner. Food is usually about 30% of the price of the meal, alcohol is more profitable and milk shakes are also more profitable. So giving some extra to the buyer is unlikely to make the meal unprofitable. -
Dongguan--Changping Town. I dont think they have go go bars like those in Pattaya. Its more the Manila.AC tpye of structure.

The Yellow Board was still going in 2002 but I moved over to the baht bus when it started.

Too many to remember at my age. I just remember that all cats are grey in the dark. However, am I the only person on the board who has made love to a Mexican woman?

"You can live like a king."
Jantrevor replied to Siam Sam's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Having been to Thailand 5 times over 10 years I can say that $20US a day is a back packers rate. 1,000 baht a night for a reasonable room with ABF Even 700 baht rooms are borderline. 300 a day for cheap food, I like my bangers and mash. 300 for other such as transportation, gifts, drinks. 1,600 a day is about $47 Well above $20 -
Interesting. One day I will return to Pattaya. And see the Buddha in the hill and the Sanctuary of Truth.

Bring me the head of Peter Norton!!
Jantrevor replied to Mescalito's topic in Technical problems or questions.
The problem with Norton 360 is running the automatic system checks and virus scans. You can solve your problems by turning off the automatic scans by going into tasks and settings, advanced settings and change from the automatic mode, setting up when to run the scans etc. It takes 4 houts to do a full run on my system so I do it over supper and into the evening. If the fans rock it means the blades are not balenced properly. Its not centrafugal (actually the force would be centrapedal) force. A properly balenced fan should not rock (or roll) Jan -
Download IrfanView. Its free and is one of the best and easiest programs to resize and restructure pictures. it will also run movie clips. I use it all the time.

Norton 360 is OK if you have a newish computer with LOTS of memory. However, I do not use the back-up to their web. You also have to rune the full scan on a regular basis, the quick scan seems to miss a lot. But I too miss the old Commander. Jan -
I have used IrfanView for years (since V1) and it is one of the best. Jan

Jantrevor replied to rockyryan's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
My 4 tooth denture, not a bridge, cost me $3,000 in Southern CA. Oklahoma is cheaper and so is Mexico. -

Ranking: top restaurants - Pattaya
Jantrevor replied to jimmynewrider's topic in Restaurants and food
nobody filled in the questionair so I guess nobody eats in more than one place. Pig & W was OK but rather expensive. Kings Seafoor on Walking was good, but again expensive. What I would like is a good seafood place at a low price. But it has to be clean. Jan -
Has anybody tried to get health coverage through a US medicare HMO on a vacation basis?
-
Over 65 and you have a hard time getting health insurance at any price.

It depends on how you want to live. Small apartment, eat thai food, go out once a week, this could be done on 70,000 baht a month. Ringing the bell nightly and the cost goes up.
