  1. In all the times i have walked past here on LK, i have never ever seen this place open, but i'll give it a try next time im there. Thanks for the report.

  4. It is really bad in Donestk and that region near the boarder. Ive seen first hand photos of the conflict, and im not talking about the bullshit photos and video the news agencies show either!! Real photos from a current Ukrianian Spetsnaz soldier. Horrible, just horrible photos. Yep, the chants of Slava Ukrayini are everywhere. The country has gone and got all very patriotic over this invasion. And dessert tasted as good as it looked. Слава Україні! Героям слава!
  5. Coming to America.
  6. It is a very large city indeed, and clean. You see old people everywhere out sweeping up and getting rid of the leaves. These photos were taken on a sunday, and pretty much the only people that were out were actually Ukrainain tourists, and not foreigners. There are, what look like at first glance to be slum areas, and you drive through these on the main run in and out of the airport. But, on closer inspection, they are quite clean, and lively, and the areas filled with people out and about. But thats not to say there are no slum areas, im sure there are somewhere, but with current unemployment in Ukraine somewhere around 3%(so i read somewhere), im sure these areas are few and far to be seen.
  7. Ukrainian girls are stunning, absolutely stunning. There is a night life area with bars, pubs and clubs galore, and some serious super clubs. I might start a Ukraine night life thread later.
  8. Looks good, and 1 of the places i have yet to visit but really should get my ass into gear. What kind of prices are the rooms? Close to the beer bars? Thanks for posting.

  10. Good news, so keep those photos coming...........................
  11. Yeah, thats where you get unlucky with the cost Lance, but at the end of the day, you have Bali and the Philippines within spitting distance of you. Not sure what the main is called in english, but in Ukrainian its called Картофель жареный с грибами which translated means "panned friend potatoes and mushrooms" Dessert was super tasty and free as well, but wil be expensive in the long run, but im not too worried about that. I'll work on thise skills the next time im over in Kiev!
  12. Why dont you guys upload your photos to a site like Photobuket, then you can just link your photos from there to here, and then you can post as many photos as you want to!!
  13. I know this review wont appeal to most people, if any at all, but i just thought i would share it in case any UK members or other European members decide on a trip to Kiev. After all, it only cost me £150 return flight on BA, so its quite a cheap destination to get to. Anyway, we stumbled across this place in Kiev, called "Katysha". Its a small chain across the city, with i believe somewhere around 8 or 9 other restaurants. The idea behind it sees to be that the place is decked out like an old 80's style Ukrainain home, making you feel more at home when eating. http://katysha.com.ua/ The menu is quite extensive with local dishes, and as a added bonus, comes in english too!!! So nothing lost in translation! We had 2 starters, 2 mains, large pot of tea, and 2 large beers. Cost to me, only £6.50. Now thats value for money and i highly advise anyone who does visit here to try these places out. They give you these paper place mats for the food. They are aimed at kids, but as the mat was in Ukrainian, i decide to colour in the pictures instead, to the great amusement of the restaurant staff........... The Borscht................... Garlic buns covered with dill, and sour cream.................... doing it the local way by adding sour cream to the soup............................ My main course.............................
  14. All these photos in this thread were take on the same day(Sunday 5th Oct). And even though the city is quite large, if you start early enough, you ca get around all the major sites in a day. Of course, the weather was a really good help for me on this day as well.
  15. No gogo bars here, but i have heard and was told about some strip club bars somewhere, but didnt have the balls to check them out. Hotels are cheap and reasonable. I stayed at the Fire Inn hotel, cost me 600 UAH(roughly£25), and breakfast was included in the price. Wifi in the hotel and free, and it seems that every bar, coffee shop, restaurant, hotel, infact anywhere has free wifi. There are even free wifi hotspots dotted around at the right places across Kiev. I had ZERO safety issues, and it seems most people are polite and want to help, or just leave you alone. Hardly saw anyone on the streets after 11pm, so i thought it was safe enough. Some hotels(that i have heard about) dont like their guests to invite girls back, but it seems most have no problems with this. Currency exchange? It is currently 22UAH to the £(sorry no idea what that is to the $), Everywhere you look there are banks and places offering foreign currency exchange. Lots of these places do vary in their rates, so you need to shop around. If you feel the need to pay the girls in US$, then you can, jsut agree that before hand, otherwise they are not fussy and will take the local UAH. If you see these nightclubs the girls operate out off, you would never want to leave. There is one with 4 dance floors spread out across the building, 2 normal bars in there as well, it also has 4 different inhouse restaurants, chill out zones, coffee shops, open air verandas for smoking, different cloak rooms, and even a roof top(at least my understanding was) pool. What more can you ask for??
  16. Evening all.
  17. Looks good actually. What kind of price did you end up paying for this?
  18. I must admit, that the Borscht is very much an acquired taste in food, but its not bad or fatty. You should really see some of the other foods for fat and oil!!!
  19. Cheers Typhoon. More to come soon...................................
