Joiner fee is a scam. Until you buy your room and not some one bed promotion, the hotel not allowed to ask any extra money. IF your guest don't use any pay facilities as breakfast for example. So... if I visit a friend in his room they will ask also joiner fee? Stupid. In my first 3 yrs lived through RCI in good hotels and there were some nice tries. I offered him to discuss this with RCI.. the efforts were eliminated immediately. Never pay to legalize this scam. If you stay in an international chain ask a document about it to report to the mother company, as those joiner fees landing in the pocket of the staff. Other question are the local hotels.... ask the bill and move. In my history they many time changed their mind if I discussed it with a top manager and not with the desk clerk.

Fair Properties offer really a rip off, as it is about 28.000BHT/month... This price in View Talay is way too high. I renting out a fair, common condo for 12.000BHT. Even a 28.000 deposit is stupid... I'm asking 2-4.000. You are right on that renting a condo is a little bit more hassle, but way cheaper, than the hotels and the quality of the rooms are often better, than a 5* hotel. In VT2 the room cleaning service is 180BHT, the laundry for a sheet 30-50BHT, for a pillow 5BHT. About the electricity you have to see the meter upon your arrival and pay no more, than 5BHT/unit.

The better way to hire a taxi, as it is far away. If you ribe by motocycle: Go to the direction to Jomtien, between Viewtalay 1 and Viewtalay 2 ( after the Buddha Hill ) are the Thepprasit road. Turn left on it ( you may stop for a delicious roast duck on the corner ) and ride until near to Sukhumwit road ( Tesco lotus ) The Outlet Mall will on the right side. Try the XXL shop ( I'm a small guy, but anyway found a lot for me ) there are the best deals. ( Gap shirt for 250BHT, branded jeans 200-500BHT for example )

You are absolutely right. I myself using my debit card with ATM on a daily status in Pattaya. Also managing my financial deals with Hungary from internet cafes on Jomtien with online banking. Still no any trouble. However my friend sucked, not everyone is an expert. My advice was the SMS service. ( I receive an SMS message to my mobile phone within 2-3 minutes if any changes on my account ) If you notice promptly, that someone using your account you can call the bank and immediately report them about it, not weeks later after your return home. About the PIN change... you can do it on any ATM, you don't need the internet banking.
