It's always different prices from BKK, than to BKK. I booked for a friend yesterday a private car for 1600 + toll ( about 100 ) The owner is a friend, I'm sure the car will be there. http://www.emanja.com

It depends on luck, I never ever react about my overweight and still had the luck. In december I had a luggage with 74 ( ! ) kg. It was cling-filmed and moaned to the lady don't hassle me... no problem. Usually my handbag usually weights 10 kilo, but never ever anyone asked me about it. From BKK I returned with 41 kg no any problems. My idea is allways check in with a female worker, as they are more understanding, than the most rigorous male staff. However my ex father in law always worrying about the weight of his luggage and he is always redirected to pay the extra fee. ( I'm useless to expl

Pattaya Hill Resort is a great place, from the higher floors very nice views and large balconies. Available through RCI. If you use RCI order the 2 bedroom option, as the Studios and the 1 bedroom ( this is a large studio with no extra windows, balconies just with an additional glass wall in the middle of the room ) are poor. And be aware, that the traffic is a nightmare.

Irishman, you are right, my condos are in VT2. Short time visitors will not seek a condo, they will be find a cheap hotel. Condos are a choice for long time visitors. Long time visitors don't have the pressure to shag 102 girls a day, they may live in a more restful way of life, that's why they prefer Jomtien instead of Pattaya. Renting out a condo in Pattaya is a really cheap way of life, so even worst investmnent for the owner.

Buying a condo for the reason to rent out is dumb. Buying a condo as an investment with the hope of the increasing prices is questionable and risky. Buying a condo to have a base is a good choice. Renting out also a risky thing as the visitors sometime ruins the rooms. ( Even more risky if you are not in the city, because the office will not be sensitive about the condo's condition ) Renting out is easy from the middle of november to march, april. The rest of the time is a poor chance, even with the reduced prices. There are also a chance that the office will rent out the condo, say about the

Nothing wrong ( IMHO ) with the VT complexes. I'm a big fan of the VT2, I have condos myself overthere. The many offers you can see is the result of the new investments. An advice: don't buy anything will be completed in the future. Buy a condo with doors, keys and ready to move in.

Why everybody emphasize, that the box evening is free ? In Pattaya I know 3 boxing places, rounded with bars and all are free. And of course, if I sit in a bar I order something, same-same as in Pattaya. Gonebamboo, in what aspect you feel safer in Samui ? Do you mean the traffic ? What about the quality of the beach in the centre ? Cleanliness, water. ( around Aloha ) Are there any place for snorkeling? I mean see fishes. Is there a good seafood restaurant ? ( walking distance ) What about the bar prices ? BF, ST, beer ? Joe, what about the Lamai Cabaret ? I guess you have a sensible

The saturday box are in the regular bars ? You mentioned, that no entry fee, is that means they are some kind of special places ? The fact, that Aloha in the middle of the city doesn't mean lower quality of the beach ? BTW... bottled water. On my first trips I bought at the beach, on the street etc. and was throw out the half used bottles as I like only the very cold drings. Now I place a bottle for the night to the freezer. Next day I have a piece of ice in the bottle, it slowly dissolves and I have all the day ice cold drink with me.

Thanx for the advices . After your words I changed my hotel from Chaweng to Lamai beach... hope so a good choice Anyone has some first hand experience about the Aloha Resort and Spa ?? ( the hotel I reserved the room )

No any tips unless some extra service. If you want to favour a BG, give the tip to her hand, not to the tray. The tray tip goes for share, the hand tip goes for her.

Yes, Koh Larn is the called Coral Island ( despite I don't found any corals overthere ) There are really nice beaches ( my favourite is the Tien ) but for me boring, but this is only me. I like Jomtien with the vivid life, vendors, characters. True, the sea itself way better in Koh Larn. You can easy to go to Koh Larn with speedboats from Jomtien beach for 1200-1600 bht / boat a return trip. An other option is the ferry from Pattaya ( more complicated and uncomfortable ) for a couple hundred bht / person. About the Pattaya programs I'm already listed to you some dozen links in an other thr

Thank you guys for the info. Ordered the Chaweng Cabana, looks pretty, any personal experience ? How about the location ?

Isabella, with a child nothing to do in Pattaya itself. Even in daytime the city is polluted, crowded, the beach way worst, than on Jomtien. If you want any sea side activity you will must use the bahtbuses to get to Jomtien. Hard Rock is a good hotel, nice swimmingpool, but no mean to leave it at daytime except travel to Jomtien for the beach. I myself without a child practically never enter to Pattaya at the daytime.
-
With a kid I don't recommend at all Pattaya, maybe the better choice is Jomtien.

Thanx Montydog, I never been before in Samui, but I heard that Lamai beach is too slow and quiet, no any action around, true, offered as the best beach on the island. That's why I'm seeking around Chaweng beach. I may be wrong, please add any advices as for a total newbie in Samui. edited: looking the map you kindly offered.. where are the action places ? Like in Pattaya: Soi 2, Walking street ?
-
I'm looking for a decent ( good quality ) hotel in Samui right on the beach, near ( walking distance ) to the action. ( up to 3000- 3500 bht/night ) Of course a guest friendly one. Any ideas ?? If possible with a link.

Shortly: NO. The rooms are poor, the location is a nightmare using the BBuses.
