  1. In other news, there are Westerners who order Singha beer.
  2. How about luk teung joints? I love good old-school luk teung. Probably there are a few but not frequented by foreigners.
  3. Sorry for harshing your mellow. I'm just the messenger.
  4. Remember how the troika creamed their jeans at the Cyprus buy-in? "This is a wonderful model! We should try this in Spain! In Portugal!" When the hammer falls, TPTB will suddenly notice that a lot of farang have bank accounts in Thailand....
  5. Just ran across this interesting post in the comments section on Zero Hedge: I predict we'll see a big crash in the value of the baht within a year or two. It feels bubbly.
  6. So have I (not necessarily stunners, but doable). Might be a good way to pick up a Sierra Tango -- and the barfine is only 10 baht!
  7. I can't say you're wrong, but most of those stories involve farang driving motorcycles themselves. For the moto drivers, driving a bike isn't about impressing the ladies, it's a job.
  8. I use the motos all the time and everywhere. Got a few favorite crews that I give most of my business to. Rarely, rarely have a problem. Point to point, breeze through gridlock, reasonably priced. What's not to like?
  9. Um, that was my point.
  10. You might recall that a city bus system was tried. Sparkling new bus stop signs complete with advertising from local businesses was rolled out about, what, five years ago or so? The baht bus mafia torpedoed the buses, demanding that they run infrequently, etc etc. A light rail/skytrain system might work because it would have more official muscle behind it than a bus system. Besides, the town has grown a lot. A rail system is sorely needed.
  11. Fixed your post
  12. 2-3 baht per can will translate to a 20 baht price hike at the jiggle den.
  13. Why not? Bernanke and Greenspan didn't have a clue either. We're in good company.
  14. It's amazing that the Thai language does not have a standard Romanized orthography, like every other East Asian language does. It's spelled Soi Buakhao and it's pronounced "soi boo-uh-cow." As you know, "bua khao" means "white lotus."
  15. The only kiosks I see on my arrival are SCB and they give significantly worse rates than what I can get in Pattaya, including at SCB in Pattaya. If Kbank's claims are true, it's good news, because their rates are certainly competitive in P-titty.
  16. Alex Jones, Joseph Mercola and many others have been making these points for years. It's good to see it finally recognized in the mainstream media. Better late than never. No fluoride in the water in Japan, fortunately.
  17. Come on down everybody! Booze, tarts and a pig on the spit, what more can you ask for? Your friends in low places are waiting.
  18. In my experience if you get an itch in your kecks you should try Canesten first thing. It's a braod-spectrum antifungal. Disclosure: I'm not a doctor, but I play doctor in gogo bars.
  19. Lucky man. I have zits that date from the Reagan administration. I name them after craters on the moon.
  20. Thanks for the heads up. Yes, if you have any concerns about your health consult a real doctor, not a pharmacist. A good pharmacist should and will tell you the same thing.
  21. Can't view it over here. Couldn't find it on YouTube either.
  22. Why is it always this way? Woke up this morning to find no water running from the taps. Why does it always happen in the rainy season? Water, water everywhere, nor any a drop to park my breakfast with.
  23. A lot of the people who bought condos bought with the understanding that their premises were a discreet distance from, but still convenient to, Walking Street. They wouldn't be happy if it was taken away and put someplace else. No, I'll believe it when I see the wrecking crews.
  24. Good thought, but I just checked and JavaScript is enabled. it could be because I'm using an old-ass version of Firefox, because I'm using an old-ass computer. I tried using Safari and it isn't any better. Guess it's time to dig a crowbar into my wallet and fork out for a new box.
  25. I see them, but they're grayed out, indicating that I can't use them. When I click on an icon, nothing happens.
