I can't say you're wrong, but most of those stories involve farang driving motorcycles themselves. For the moto drivers, driving a bike isn't about impressing the ladies, it's a job.

I use the motos all the time and everywhere. Got a few favorite crews that I give most of my business to. Rarely, rarely have a problem. Point to point, breeze through gridlock, reasonably priced. What's not to like?

You might recall that a city bus system was tried. Sparkling new bus stop signs complete with advertising from local businesses was rolled out about, what, five years ago or so? The baht bus mafia torpedoed the buses, demanding that they run infrequently, etc etc. A light rail/skytrain system might work because it would have more official muscle behind it than a bus system. Besides, the town has grown a lot. A rail system is sorely needed.
