  1. Robin's Nest on Soi Diana is pretty good.
  2. I laughed out loud. Did you guys really not get the joke, or are you taking the piss at the OP's expense?
  3. "Christmas at the Airport" by Nick Lowe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiSf083QM_U I'll try to embed the video but it probably won't work: Just do it like this:
  4. I call mine "the purple bishop."
  5. Thanks for the chuckle, Monkeyman! Personally I wouldn't want to see the back of the Russian tourists. Their WAGs are smokin' hot and they dress sluttier than the gogo dancers.
  6. Met LVP on several occasions. Always found him a fascinating guy to talk to. Rest in peace.
  7. Just arrived last night, did not go into Bangkok but came straight to Pattaya from the airport. No unusual activity whatsoever. The only factor of note is that the immigration area looked deserted. This was around 5PM.
  8. Yes, I think the yellow shirts' game plan is to provoke the army into staging a coup, in the hopes of imposing a new, less democratic constitution.
  9. Interesting the similarity between the Russian ikra and the Japanese ikura. I guess ikura is a loan word from the Russian. I'd always thought it was native Japanese. Learn something new every day!
  10. Great pics, SOS! Looks like some pretty girls, except the ugly critter in the middle of #7.
  11. Thanks Tom, I bookmarked it too. It would be nice if it included some of the non-bank exchange places too, but a nice handy reference.
  12. Fewer Chinese tourists! Who says there's no good news?
  13. 2 million baht for a 27sqm coffin. Fookinell. It better be absolute beachfront or at least have a killer view.
  14. Just read a report of two shooting deaths at one of the demonstrations. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/02/world/asia/thailand-protests.html?hpw&rref=world&_r=0
  15. Soi 15 is the Soi Diamond of the 21st century.
  16. Monkeyman, I could not help but detect a note of disgruntlement in this installment vis-a-vis our subcontinental brethren?
  17. Looking forward to returning to P-titty and will definitely drop in at Baby Dolls, one of the most playful bars in town.
  18. Ricky, sorry I can't make it as I am still stuck here 3,000 miles to the north. Happy birhtday, have fun and don't molest the dancers -- that's my job
  19. Yeah, there's no MLS service in Thailand, so it's really hard to see if the prices asked have any bearing on what they sell for. My landlord wants 3.5 million for the house I'm living in, the masonry keeps falling off and the roof leaks. He's dreaming.
  20. Checkpoint Cheap Charlie! lol. Can I buy shares in that franchise?
  21. Coming west (toward the beach) on Pattaya Tai at Second Rd? I can safely assure you that the number going straight at that point is zero.
  22. The baht bus from the corner of LKM and Soi Buakhao goes to Pattaya Tai, then normally turns right, then at the corner of Pattaya Tai and 2nd Rd it normally turns right but sometimes turns left. If it turns right, just get off (after or before the light, whatever you find easier -- personally I find getting off after the light is easiest), then walk far enough south to catch a baht bus going to Jomtien. You can of course get a seat on one of the baht buses outside the school, but I don't do that as 1) the bus is guaranteed to be packed 2) you have to wait until it is packed before the bus will leave and 3) 9 out of 10 times I end up seated next to a rent boy.
  23. Hmm. I wonder what the requirement is for people on a retirement visa?
  24. I apprehensiate it too. Nice report and photons, thanks for posting.
