  1. Those are good prices, even better than the £391 I got on Etihad from Manchester in November last year. *Starts browsing http://www.airline-network.co.uk for May/June availability* EDIT: lots of availability with Quatar from Manchester at £365 'all in' I am very impressed
  2. Hi Alex, I'm looking for a flight in early June so hopefully it won't be long before I'm drinking Beer Lao at the Rockhouse again
  3. Yep, that sounds like the place I went to 3 years ago, good treatment at a good price :) Yep, it sometimes doesn't take more so than other jabs. In the UK there is usually a third stage after the main shot where they check that it has taken properly. It usually gets recommended where it is possible that intimate relations - exchange of blood with another person might occur, on this basis I think that most mongers and dental patients should get it, just to be on the safe side.
  4. Another good dentist I used a couple of years ago was the one opposite the Leng Kee restaurant on Pattaya Central Road, between junction with 2nd Road and Soi Bhuakow. Can't remember the name of the place, but it was quick clean and not expensive
  5. I love the bum washers, we should have them in the UK
  6. I stayed here for the whole of December with no complaints whatsoever, good quality at a good price. Hopefully will be back here later this year
  7. In my experience of arriving and departing in December, the the rates offered for £ at Suv airport were as good as most places in Pattaya. Wish this was the same in other airports around the world
  8. Used this bus service twice in December to visit a girl in Bangkok and once you learn the routine it's a great and cheap way to travel. I was also impressed with the BTS as usual but also used the new Metro Subway and that's great too, it's also a lot quicker way of getting round the city than a taxi during peak traffic periods
  9. It's two years since I stayed at the Nova Lodge. There are 2 or 3 suites, a few premium rooms and standard rooms. I have noticed that it does get fully booked in peak times. They have many repeat guests and some who stay a long time, mainly European origin when I have stayed there, but this is bound to vary. Pros Fantastic location near soi 7 and 8 but not too close. Also backs onto beach. is a few minutes walk from a big Topps Supermarket and is on a main Baht Bus route, 5-10mins ride from Walking St. Breakfast buffet has a good variety available, as much as you can eat, in
  10. I buy 'illegal' copy 'generic' viagra or cialis from a pharmacy on near Walking St, always works fine for me I buy 'illegal' copy software from a shop on Second Road, always works fine for me I buy 'illegal' copy film DVDs from the South Market, always works fine for me I buy 'illegal' copy designer clothes from various shops and markets in Pattaya, always works fine for me T.I.T. Am I a bad/foolish/stupid man? Everyone makes their own choices, hopefully informed, and takes any consequences, good or bad
  11. I agree Brown. Just booked with Etihad via www,airline-network.co.uk from Manchester to BKK, leaving end 29 November returning 30 December, 2 hour wait in Abu Dhabi each way, only £396 fully inclusive of all taxes and ticket delivery. A brilliant price and cheaper than I was paying 3 years ago with Turkish Airlines . Its also at least £50 less than any other current option from Manchester.
  12. Hi Dotcom, Thanks but have stayed at Nova Lodge 3 times in last 4 years, I know the place and most of the staff very well. Can assure you that there is absolutely no TG joiner fee, though they do hold a 'guest's' ID while they are there. Can supply any other info anyone might want on the place too, just ask. Am currently checking out the best rate for Nova Lodge in December this year via my local Thai travel agent. But as I'm going to be in FunCity for a full month this time I thought I would see if I could find somewhere cheaper but with not too many cockroaches or 'guest unfriendly'. Wo
  13. Thanks Dave. Am looking at a few places but this does look particularly nice, even without pool
  14. Especially in the studio apartments? Whats it like and is it TG friendly? Not been around for a while, but now planning next trip for whole of December and looking for a change from the Nova Lodge Thanks David
  15. I love soapies and Sabailand is my favourite too, they normally give me the upfront 1500 Baht option automatically as I converse in simple parsa Thai. I like this way as it saves hassle but I usually also tip the girl approx 100Baht if she has given good service. Last time I went I chose a v nice girl called 'Yen', unfortunately the tape/radio unit in the room overheated and started smoking . She dashed into the corridoor wearing just a towel screaming for help! Fortunately we found another room and still got to the 'Happy Ending' .
  16. I bought loads (100B each) just off South Pattaya market and they have all worked perfectly. I guess some supliers are good and some are not good, the trick is to work out which is which :)
  17. As a financial advisor might say... it depends on your attitude to risk :). A couple of plus points for travellers cheques are... if you lose them or they are stolen you are almost certain to get your money back and you get a slightly better exchange rate with them. A Minus point is the cost of purchase which also sometimes includes a commission element. More and more people seem to be bringing their ATM cards from home and using them in the Pattaya ATMs
  18. Tops is at the junction of Pattaya central Road (aka PattayaKlang) and 2nd Road, just north of Soi 7. In my experience it has the best easily available GBP Sterling exchange rates in Pattaya
  19. In the middle of South Pattaya market (Tues &Sat) there is a t-shirt stall selling good quality shirts that say 'SAME SAME' on the front and 'BUT DIFFERENT' on the back. I bought one :) I think they were about 100 baht. DB
  20. I normally fly by Turkish Airlines and they like you to reconfirm, mainly because if you are not going to fly they would like to sell your seats to someone else. I reconfirm by popping into my local Internet Cafe (I am usually in there every few days anyway) and emailing the Bangkok office of the airline, with the ticket number and flight details. They email me back confirming receipt and also inform me of any little changes to flight times, which seem to happen every year. You can get the email address of airline local offices by searching for their website and checking there. Regards
  21. Have just been to the new Carrefour megastore on pattaya central road. Its even bigger than the Tesco Lotus places, with a separate store for DIY furniture etc... and a superb foodhall. i had a look round and saw nearly everything you can get in Europe. When a company like Carrefour makes such a big investment in Pattaya they must think it has a good future.
  22. I have just arrived now and 'quiet' is very accurate description for most places. However everyone seems to expect that January will be busy as usual. My hotel is fully booked for then. Last night I have popped into FLB and had a good time as usual ;D. DB
  23. Dam Turkish Airlines!, I made it to Bangkok no probs but my luggage stayed in Istanbul > can I withdraw my recommendation lol? Fortunately they've now found it and it's finally made its way to Pattaya . Galatersay is too hard a name for me to spell, so I will be staying with Madrid for a while DB
  24. I flew with them from Manchester last year, and it's exactly as TabMule says. I have also flown with Emirates (for £100 more!) and main difference is that you don't get your own video screen built into the back of the seat in front of you, instead you have a shared screen in the cabin. I am flying out with them again in a few days from now for £400 ret incl taxes and ticket postage through www.expedia.co.uk ;D
