  1. After visiting this most beautiful of airports I can now confirm the exact position regarding airport tax. If you are flying domestic then it is 400THB, if you are flying International it is 500THB with nothing more to pay at Don Muang BKK. International transit passengers have to wear a stick on badge and are taken off the aircraft at BKK direct to the International terminal. I was spending 2 days in BKK so I had to pay twice, 400 to leave USM and 500 to leave BKK. [smiley=thumbdown.gif]
  2. JWM was accepting bids of 56usd+ for February, it was an even better deal for us Limeys now that the Pound is at a record high against the Dollar. [smiley=1luvu.gif]
  3. JohnJnr Thanks for that John, I used this board to get an idea how much to bid to stay at the JW Marriott, Suk/Soi2, I have bookmarked it now and will use it again when I stay in BKK. Rgds
  4. Cheers Guys, I've not checked the exact mileage, just knew it was around 15K. Do they class all of Europe the same miles from BKK or are there different miles for each EVA destination in Europe? Maybe next trip if I flew from Manchester I'd total over 30K, just a thought! Rgds
  5. I have just made my first Evergreen Deluxe round trip LHR-BKK-LHR, I understand this has earnt me 15K miles. If I repeat this then I will have 30K miles, enough to upgrade economy-evergreen de luxe for my 3rd trip. The question is do I still earn economy miles(100%) on an the upgraded flight? TIA
  6. To get an idea for hotel bids on priceline there is a site called biddingfortravel.com, I have been unable to access the site for a couple of days, any idea if it is server problems, or has the site been closed down? TIA
  7. I've just spent a week in Weekender Resort, Lamai. Deluxe sea view room was 2100 fully inc, had a king bed and a single, right close to town but very quiet and close to beach. Very Guest Friendly. bathroom not brilliant, water pressure not very good, somehow it didn't seem to matter too much.
  8. If I want to hire a motor for a day or two in Samui, will the hirers accept the non-photo, green UK licence or do I need international? There is no way I am hiring a motor bike!!! Maybe if only for 1 day around the island a taxi will do a decent deal. Rgds
  9. Cheers Dog, Thanks for the heads up, I will be putting in a full Eva FR when I return from LOS in early February.
  10. Is it the same food service in Evergreen Deluxe as Economy? TIA
  11. CT Great work, let's hope the Newbies check that lot out before they ask too many questions.
  12. thanks Guys, Just had a look on Heathrow arrivals and it is on time tonight.(Tuesday)
  13. Just as a rough guide how is the timekeeping on BR67 BKK-LHR? I believe it's scheduled for 1905 at LHR T3. TIA Gus
  14. In the Mail on Sunday today was a story about if Europe doesn't stop it's import ban on Thai prawns then thailand will not be buying it's Airbus jets. apparently Europe insists that Thai prawns are fed to make them bigger with an ingredient that can bring on cancer.
  15. Just to stay 1 post ahead of you Jimmac, I googgled the 717 and as you rightly said it was first called the MD95 which was a variant of the DC9. I once sat in the pilots seat of a US Navy DC9 at NAS Jacksonville. Hopefully the newer engines on the 717 are somewhat less noisy than the originals, don't want the tranquility of Samui spoilt. Not too sure if when the pilot runs the engines up at samui if he has to make sure he doesn't add too much power and blow the terminal buildings away. Rgds
  16. I just booked direct with Bangkokairways for late January. I will be flying Utapao(Pattaya)-Samui, then Samui-BKK and the total fare was 6,500thb. There is only 1 Samui-Pattaya-Samui flight per day, around lunchtime. On the BKK route, Bangkokairways use a Boeing 717 jet on some flights, I have never been on a 717 but I am booked for 6th Feb, plus the jet is quicker as well. The Bangkok air web site shows seat availabilty, plus I found their fares quite good, e-ticketing so no extra charges for ticket collection etc.
  17. Many years ago I got some on my Ball bag, did the 100 yards in 9.9 secs! You feel like jumping in the River! [smiley=grin.gif] Any locals know this goyasuru stuff? (small jar and smelly) [smiley=puke.gif]
  18. Thanks for the info guys, it seems the Mossies like Farangs more than the locals.
  19. Cheers FBF, I expect to be hearing from OURS soon regarding payment! Once again thanks for the Heads Up on that one. Rgds
  20. When I was over LOS earlier this year I got a few mossie bites yet I thought I had protected myself enough, obviously not! An English guy told me to get a small jar of a smelly stuff called something like 'Goyasuru' Now I know it's not exactly that name ,but do you know what I mean? TIA Gus
  21. I fly out Evergreen Deluxe on 24th Jan, do Eva have a seperate check in at LHR and BKK for Evergreens or do you have to queue with the economy passengers? TIA Gus
  22. Just a thought on Joiner fees, if you have booked and paid for a double/twin room, can you still be charged a joiner fee by the hotel when you return with your TG? For our more energetic bros I am talking about only taking 1 TG back. TIA
  23. On the official web site I cannot find any prices, am I doing anything wrong or do I need to send off the booking enquiry form? Secondly, can you get 'IN' room massage from hotel massage or is it just by the poolside? TIA Gus
  24. Pissed myself laughing this morning watching Breakfast TV. It said following on from the England Rugby team winning the world Cup the England team had now beaten Thailand at..........Elephant Polo!!!!!!!!!!!!! It showed the elephants on the pitch with the players on top , how many balls were trodden into the ground I do not know. It put me off my cornflakes watching the groundstaff going round the pitch at half-time picking up the Elephant Shit with their hands, NO gloves ;D ;D
  25. Bros, I checked out the Hotel reviews and the Montien seems a better hotel than the Markland (and more expensive!), yet there are conflicting views about if the hotel is GF. Some reports say Hotel is GF some say 800thb joiner, can anyone add anything? TIA
