Pattaya swaps old ‘two rows’ for minibuses
cybers1b replied to cybers1b's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
No need to be sorry I actually posted it here exactly for the reason that non members can see it... cheers cyber -
Roppongi, Sunny already said it, cheap can be from 3000 Baht for a new one, second hand at MBK could even be for 1000 Baht or less if it is a very old model (but it would still do what a phone should do - make calls). http://www.mbk-center.com - there is a good location Map as well There would also be a rental option - even at the airport: http://www.airportthai.co.th/airportnew/bi...ice5.html#tele5 you could give them a call and ask about the price but it will most likely be more expensive then to buy a second hand or even cheap new one. Some Phone Companies also offer

As much as I hate to say this (becuase of who is behind AIS) - it is AIS. They started to build their infrastructure years before others. In some areas the AIS network can be heavily used though and that causes some problems from time to time. But they sure have the best overall coverage of the country. That does not mean that there are not some areas where one of the other companies might be better though. cheers cyber

Let's wait and see - december is not far away... Pattaya swaps old ‘two rows’ for minibuses PATTAYA, Oct 6 (TNA) - Pattaya is to do away with its traditional 'song thaew' buses and switch to modern minibuses in a move designed to ensure a faster flow of traffic through this tourist resort in Thailand's eastern province of Chonburi. Tourists who once had to endure cramped conditions in the 'song thaew' buses--named so because of their two rows of seating--will, from now on, be treated to more spacious vehicles, thanks to an initiative by Pattaya Mayor Narin Wattanasatsathorn. There are some links to the prepaid packages of the GSM provider in Thailand. Just get a SIM and use it with any GSM (900 or 1800) phone. Prepaid Services: One-2-Call (AIS) http://www.one-2-call.com/One2Call/otc/e/products_tariff.jsp (i know, they don't have a link to the english site from the start site - kinda user unfriendly) Happy Dprompt (DTAC) http://www.happydprompt.com/en/what_happy_is/tariff.html Hutch http://www.hutch.co.th/say/prepay/prepay_main_prepay_en.htm Orange http://www.orange.co.th/english/join/just1bt.htm cheers cyber

I only can recommend Malaysia Airlines to anyone thinking to use it. I used it twice this year to Vienna and the flights where top, on the first I was in Business, which is about as good as First Class with Lufthansa. On the second I was in Eco, but it is still very comfortable (they use new Boeing 777 for the KUL-VIE flights) with in personal screens on every seat, games, info channel...flight crew is very friendly, food was ok on both occasions as well. One of the best deals I ever got considereng that the price BKK-KUL-VIE-KUL-BKK was about 540 Euro (this April). cheers cyber

Fr. Lust, You can find a list of providers here: most (if not all) of them offer local pattaya access numbers and prepaid packages. http://bangkok2day.com/portal/component/op...mid,4/catid,77/ cheers cyber -
i think BigD actually got the story on bkktonight board as he stated, as I said, I did not get the connection between the regular police and the Tourist police volunteers cheers cyber

I guessed it was ironic - Just the regular police and the tourist police are 2 different pairs of shoes. i would have guessed that it was the regular police that was mentioned here. cheers cyber

Just a short thought about the safety of in room safes - might be smart to leave the real important stuff at a front desk safety box (but even there you can never be sure) http://www.mcot.org/query.php?nid=31087 And if one is so concerned about his jewellery and his Rolex - might be best to leave it at home at all cheers cyber

yeah, most people use IE becuase it is allready there when you install windows. but once you get used to firefox (or opera as well) - you most likely won't go back where in thailand are you? Pattaya? if so - do you have a tt&t line or tot line? if you need the new version: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...tup%201.0PR.exe cheers cyber

asianet and asiaaccess adre 2 different providers. but in the past there have been fake packages of almost all providers in circulation, did you ever manage to log on with your new asiaacess username/password? if not, try to call their hotline and let them check if the username even exists. the problem with the caching is more like that: on some sites you will never get the updated version of the sites, on some site you will only get the main page updated and the links will still lead to old content. Have a look at bkktonight, there have been a few asianet customers who had problems wi

do you use asianet? if so, there is a bug in the new chaching software that has problems with cookies and cached content. if you are using another provider it still could be something similar. you could try to use the following proxy and see if that solves the issue, then you know for sure 200.110.107.155 on port 3128 it is not a fast proxy but at least it would tell you if the problem is your provider or something else. you could also try to completely clear your local chache and cookies directory once and see if that is changing anything. It probably is not a problem at the s

The Visa has a validity of usual 90 days from date of issue, you have to enter Thailand within this 90 days. Once you entered in Thailand, the Visa was stamped, but you can extend it at any Immigration Office for a further 30 days at the cost of 1,900 Baht plus a photo. The 90 days period is in regards to the entry, once you have entered, this is of no interest to the Immigration officer. You will get a stamp with the date until that you are permitted to stay, go to the Immigration office a few days before that to extend it, usually no problem and fast. If you stay 82 days and have a 60 day to

New early Shop/store closing times?
cybers1b replied to LOSO's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Major Shopping Centers (such as Futurepark Rangsit) have been "advised" to close earlier - the new closing times for Shopping Centers are no later then 9:30 PM during the week and no later then 10 pm on the weekends. Central has moved along. At Futurepark Rangist that means that the BigC there is closed at the same times, but I don't know about closing times at other BigC Malls or other Shopping Centers. Seems like more and more Malls in Bangkok are following this advise, I think it was not ordered by the government (becuase that would not be possible I guess due to some existing laws regulati -
Sunny is right about that one, the newest state of the art equipment is pricy in thailand. But for the requirements that where mentioned above with no need for fancy features, I think that you can get a better offer here then back home. But maybe the stuff is reall that much cheaper in the US. cheers cyber
