  1. Priceline is a bid and purchase system, you just give them the day to fly over and the day to fly back. They pick flight times, routes, and trip length. You may even wind up staying overnight waiting for flights are with 12 plus hours between connections. Priceline would not be a option I would use.
  2. Be careful about judging a place based upon the pictures. Most of time I have found the pictures don't really represent the hotels well.
  3. Have only flown them in Business Class but the cheap seats didn't look to good. The food was OK and the service was not bad. For me the flight is just the flight get on, sit wait, get off. I wish they would change the movies more same flims showing for several months.
  4. You are the dictator of your world so you should be happy. But like most dictators your field of control is over a very small kingdom. But don't forget about the wife.
  5. The longer you spend in Thailand the less money that you spend. I have a friend who has been in Thailand for about 20 years he spends about 42000 baht a month in total. Granted he is not in Pattaya but up country so that helps a lot.
  6. She is just being open now she came to Pattata to work the trade it just took her a couple of steps to be open about it.
  7. But did you purchase a phone for her so you are able to talk with your love?
  8. Or for those who do want to open new mail, after you read it mark leave as new and she will never know. ;D ;D ;D
  9. If you do rent a car in Thailand make sure you have a valid license to drive within the country. The rental car companies don't seem to care but the police sure do. I know that the licenses issued by the states within the US are not valid in Thailand. For visitors from the US you need a international drivers license or a Thai license. Don't know the requirements for visitors from other Asian countries.
  10. "work permits in a beer bar really is not necessary" until you as a foreigner are caught doing any thing in the bar, arrested and deported from Thailand. What many people do when running a business is to run along the edge and many go over it and find themself out of business. Running a business the right way with all the permits costs more and is much harder but these actions protects the investment you've made in the business.
  11. Soi 7 NWA change planes and flight numbers from SFO in Toyko (NRT) so the answer he gave you makes no sense since non stop flight is a term that is defined by the FAA and means without stops, direct flights can stop for fuel and/or passengers. NWA flight #1 goes onto BKK starts at LAX not SFO? Many of these website operators don't understand the airlines.
  12. As long as you have a good relationship with your bank it is not a problem. If charges are placed on your account and you did not do them they will remove and it will not cost you anything. Banks can charge you for the first $50 dollars of fraud my bank even waves that 100% protection.
  13. Alan, It has also been happening to me. I find it happens more when I'm own my wireless internet connection. If I'm using DSL or a T1 line then it seems to work fine. Fishingtime
  14. Growler, I agree it should be about the movies but some posters lack ability to post ideas and thoughts so they look to just start flame wars with others. Lack of independent though has always been the down fall of the weak.
  15. Rex, I have flown from Newark NJ to Hong Kong which is a 16 hour westbound flight. I believe it is the longest flight in the world if not it is within the top few. They fly over the North Pole and the trip is about 7950 miles. I talked to the second team pilot on the plane he told me that they could fly the same route with minor changes and go Newark to Bangkok. We talked for about 45 minutes about flying and about planes and the Boeing 777. I do hold a pilots license but have not used it for several years so we had a lot of things in common. The 777 is the state of the art plan
  16. The Marriott is guest friendly for about one month each year during Cobra Gold. For the month of May they seem to look the other way. I guess that the contact with the US Government is to good to pass up and the military will not pay for guest. Other than that one time period they have charge a joiner fee of around 1000 baht.
  17. I don't believe any airline is flying non stop from North America to Bangkok?
  18. 600 to 800 baht for a hotel during high season is not an easy thing to do. And you need to watch out for the required parties; Xmas and /or new year’s eve. They can add to the daily rate, two 2500 baht parties on a ten-day trip add 500 baht a day. Have you looked at Flipper group or Apex? You can always find places close to the action but with limited benefits like the White Inn 400 baht and no required parties.
  19. Always pay with a credit card if anything happens you are protected by the credit card company. Credit cards are the safest way to do business with hotels, airlines, etc. By the way if they add a service fee for using the card just tell the credit card company and they will remove it from your account.
  20. Did we all miss the number one reason in their eyes. It is what they all think but very few would ever say. You rich I'm not you should give me baht.
  21. Northwest doesn’t fly non stop to Bangkok they hub through Tokyo (NRT). The most direct flight that they have is SFO to NRT flight #27 and NRT to BKK flight #1 the return would be BKK to NRT flight 2 and NRT to SFO flight #28. The same is true for United no non stop service to Bangkok. By the way I have always found Northwest to have great service and good food (World Business Class)
  22. It should be clear by now that you will not go hungry in Pattaya, no matter what your budget or taste. A little something for everyone, from fast food to fine dining.
  23. Nothing wrong with a visit and you seem to have your head (mind) in the right place.
  24. What about cost for using the phone line, at 56K the download time would be very long right? I would think that it would wind up costing to much to be worth while?
  25. Mrt, As you said during cobra gold the Marriott doesn't charge a guest fee. To many problems knowing who is military and who to charge so they look the other way. The Hard Rock will charge for more than one guest or many times if you don't book a double room. But it is still a good hotel. Fishingtime
