  1. jacko, I'm on a Mac so I'm not even sure half of that applies to my machine. I went down and seen the girls at TT&T, explained the problem and asked them to configure my Linksys, which they did. Everything is working fine now I've binned the Hatari moden thing, but I've no idea if it s coincidence, or what. At the shop they told me that they were aware of a problem with some link but, again, I've no idea if it was related.
  2. jacko, You lost me with ping, hops and nodes. Internet is either quick or slow. That's it as far as I'm concerned. I still have to use a proxy for this site ...... but have no problem getting Nokair online.
  3. jacko, Will you let me know what the situation is regarding non-imm "O" (or "B") at either Vientiane or Penang. I have a spare flight with Air Asia back to UK but unless there was some other compelling reason to visit, I'd prefer to give it a miss. My current visa isn't due to expire until Nov so not a huge issue at the moment. Regards, Tom
  4. Jack, Have you flown on an Emirates 777 before?
  5. C'mon, Jerry. You're a reasonable man. How much is a bottle of Singha in the place? At this rate I'll have to get on to Oliver to do another poll.
  6. jacko, Thanks for the bits of info. I Have a feeling it must be an ISP issue because I'm having to access via proxy at the moment. I'm using the crappy Hatari modem supplied by TT&T at the moment. I've got a feeling there may be some firmware "upgrade" or changes to the TT&T service that need addressing. Unfortunately, I'm a complete retard when it comes to all those different numbers you have to deal with in Preferences. I'll take my Linksys modem down the TT&T office later today and get them to reset for their service and see how it goes. Tom
  7. jacko, It appears to be an issue within Thailand. Don't know if it's a country or ISP issue though. I've been having the same problems and now have to access via a proxy.
  8. Why you think anyone has an "agenda" against you or the bar is stretching things a bit. All I want to know is what a bottle of Singha costs. Is that really so difficult a question?
  9. As opposed to your version. Not even a decent tunafish sandwich.
  10. I might be by the time someone coughs up how much a bottle of Singha costs in the place. Do their dancers have rose-scented pussies, by any chance? I just had a look at their website and was relieved to find "And just so you know, Misty's "Lady drinks" are no more expensive than our bottled beer." Good stuff.
  11. Well, we'd agree on that point. Consummate professionals or rice-picking serfs? Who's Builder? Are you going to let the cat out of the bag and tell us how much a small bottle of Singha costs in Misty's outside Happy Hour? I'm sure that if anybody knew, you would?
  12. Got to agree Bruiser ..... this is what he said abour bars running discount schemes .... "It may not be right but this is Thailand. Forget about it, it won't happen. You can run loyalty schemes in STarbucks or Bookazine, where the staff are university educated. But not in a bar run by rice picking serfs with bones through their noses! Here's why: Discipline in a typical Thai business consists of salary cuts. Cut, cut, cut. Late for work? Cut. Take a drink without asking? Cut. Screw up a bill? It comes off your salary. So the girl sees this coupon, she doesn't know what it is, and smells there's a good chance it's coming out of her pay. The owner probably thinks he explained it to the staff, but the staff don't know anything about it, and anyway the girl was just hired yesterday. Never mind whether it's right or wrong, if you've been in this town for a while you should know better." Maybe PSP should've listened to the guy who's "been in this town for a while"?
  13. That doesn't say a lot. The place is cheap as chips. (Except for certain nightspots What a daft achievement. Being able to afford to live in Thailand. Just like the 63m others in the country, or what?
  14. From what I've read so far, PSP is a little shy of attributing value to anything, let alone customers. Enough times to know the price of drinks. In most places, at least. Robin will be chuffed seeing this get bumped ...................... again.
  15. I asked a simple question, "How much are your drinks outside Happy Hour?" I'm just passing the time whilst waiting for an answer. Or should I give the street carts a miss because Bruno's is offering 10% discount this week?
  16. Jerry, I wasn't suggesting Pete throw in the towel; far from it. What I was suggesting that, as in any business, you focus on what you are good at. All the positive reviews I've seen for the place focus on the ambiance, prices and quality of food. Very few have made much of a deal about the freelancers on offer. Bangkok certainly does have its equivalent ..... it's called Thanon Sukhumvit. The original formula for the FLB was to attract freelancers. It didn't work and Pete changed the focus. That worked very well for him and there's no reason why the same wouldn't happen. . It depends if the place could do better concentrating on drinks and food (and entertainment). So do I.
  17. There was a long queue waiting to have their photos taken on His Lordship's elevated throne, but, yes, I eventually did make it. I've not heard of him for ages, has he retired to his smallholding in Isaan, or what?
  18. Hilly ain't that bad.
  19. I agree. They even admit on the net what their prices are. Great policy in my book.
  20. And, at those prices, I can't blame you.
  21. Always happy to point fellow punters in the direction of a good deal .......... 85 Baht beers and 500 Baht barfines at Catz sounds good to me ............... and you don't need a VIP Card ............................................... 85B DRINKS !!! ........................................ With exchange rates hurting just about everyone there have been a lot of posts urging bars to reduce prices. Some bars have introduced specials on well drinks/some beers but we thought we'd try something different. You want lower prices ? You got 'em...... From tomorrow, ALL drinks* (except ladydrinks) will be priced at 85B (65B during happy hour 8.00-9.30). Want a bottled beer ? That'll be 85B. Jack Daniels/Johnnie Walker Black ? 85B please. Even cocktails and Bacardi Breezers are just 85B. No exceptions - every customer drink in the bar is 85B. We've also reduced ladydrinks from 110B to 100B and barfines are down to 500B from 600B. But it's not just about cheap booze - we've also added some cracking new dancers to our line-up. A few examples from the last couple of nights...... So stop by and check out the ladies in comfortable surroundings at prices well below most bar beers!!! We'll be running this promo for at least 2-3 months initially to see if it takes off. If it proves to be popular we'll be able to continue it right through the year. Over to you guys....... Cheers Pie * Draught beer remains @ 65B for a large 330ml glass.
  22. How much are your drinks outside Happy Hour?
  23. Not many necklace snatches either ............
