I agree, but, unfortunately, some folk do. -

All the games are on Astro with English commentary and pre/post match talk etc. In Thailand the games must be available on free to air - the rights are held by RS Sport who will (presumably) do a deal with CTH and/or True. -

Which was? Don't be shy ... If you need any help with the big words, just let me know. Coincidentally, I'm just waiting for my annual order from Lovell Sports to arrive - it has just left Laksi, so it should be here tomorrow. I hope my choices of attire don't cause anyone too much angst ... -

Not really. 25 minutes or thereabouts. -

LOL. If he chooses to dish it out, he'll get it back with interest - just ask MadMick. There you go. #43. A good reason not to wear an England shirt if ever one was needed. I dread what to think would have happened if he was wearing a Colombian or French shirt and you were in the vicinity. On the evidence of this thread, probably much the same. As you pointed out - a complete and utter bigot thinking he could tell someone what sports top he should choose to wear. Do you wear an England footie shirt in Pattaya? -

Don't forget 'la Marseillaise' ... 42. Anyway, I apologise that my intention to follow Colombia in the World Cup upset you so much. Only joking. I'm going with France ... -

If you have a 'pop' at me, I'll give it back with interest. Haven't you managed to suss that out? By all means have a go, but, FFS, don't start bleating when it evokes a response. -

I wish I could say the same about you. Unfortunately, I can't. -

Don't worry. I'm fully aware that you spent your formative years in that small corner of England that still clings to the notion that Bernard Manning was a comedian rather than the big, fat bigot that he really was. Obviously those perceptions rub off on folk. The fact that you are even now unable to distinguish between humour and good, old fashioned-bigotry doesn't really bother me. To be truthful, I find that it kind of suits you. BTW, for a so-called Mod, you don't set a very good example to other BMs. Only joking. -

Obviously ... Souness, Dalglish, Hansen, Nicol, Wark, Gillespie, McGovern, Gemmill, Burns, O'Hare, Robertson, Frankie Gray, Evans, McNaught, Des Bremner, Andy Blair .... great stuff! Heaven only knows why you would expect me to support the English national team though. Deluded, or what? -

You need to re-read the thread to see who was looking for an argument. Why the second conditional? We're not talking about Bolton Wanderers. As it is, I can say with a fair degree of certainty that I've travelled to more European games to support English teams than you, atlas2 and Bushcraft combined. And I didn't need to wait until they reached any final. As for Celtic, someone would have to point out to you which team they were. Only joking. -
There are shuttle buses to both Suvarnabhumi and Mor Chit (every 20-30 mins) where you can catch a bus to Pattaya. For the BKK shuttle you should have a boarding pass or ticket from BKK, but they seldom ask. For Mor Chit (Bus A1) it's 30 Baht or thereabouts.

Quite. Back to the OP - what are the arrangements/options for watching the games for anyone in Pattaya at the time? -

Dearie me! All that hate wasted for no reason at all. LOL. Did you read it in Littlejohn's Daily Mail column. It was banter ... the same banter that takes place everyday within the ranks of our servicemen, and has done so for many years. Of all the BMs, I would've expected you to realise that. -

We? You need to ask Bushcraft to give you a bit of a history lesson. -

Exactly my point. I'd no sooner support Rangers (or buy one of their polo shirts) than I would England; and for similar reasons. It appears to me that you have issues. Personally, I couldn't care less who you (or Bushcraft) choose to support and, quite frankly, I'm amazed that you see things otherwise. As it is, I don't quite get the "You're either with us, or against us" angst. I've already said I'm indifferent. -

You've obviously never been to a Partick Thistle v Ross County game (or a recent Newcastle v Arsenal one for that matter) . Anyway, I thought I made my position quite clear ... "I don't want to sound unkind but the last thing I want to be mistaken for down the pub is a fan of the English national football team - they have a bit of a reputation that I'd rather not be associated with and my own experience of them in Düsseldorf in 1988 was sufficient." Why not France ... it'll be just like watching a Newcastle/Arsenal select? And their national anthem is 10 times better - in fact I -

The way I view it is that it's no different to expecting a Man Utd supporter to cheer on Chelsea (or vice versa) in the Euro final. I spent over 20 years lending my practical efforts to the military union, but I don't quite grasp why that should influence what football team I support other than I'm a great admirer of the Germans due to the length of time I spent living (and playing sport) there. I do suspect that cheering on the Germans might be a bit of an alien concept to some of my chums though. What do you find unfortunate and divisive about Andy Murray? Ginger hair? His mum? I -

CheshireTom replied to benny27's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Why? None of my family is from England, although my mum had a bit of a soft spot for Brian Clough. I certainly wouldn't expect you, or anyone else, to support Scotland unless they were Scottish - for sure, I wouldn't view it as a "bit of a pity" if they didn't. Indifferent would probably be a better description. As for me, I'm pretty certain that I've actually travelled to watch more footie games in Europe and the Far East to support English club sides than most English members of this forum. I don't want to sound unkind but the last thing I want to be mistaken for down the pub is a fan -
You need to take heed of your own advice.

Yes, you wait 10 years for a proper quote and then five come along at once.

You misunderstood. I said "basic and simple Germans." That's where you come in.

If I don't, I can always chuck it into Google Translate.

LOL. You need to send your missus out for one of those full Bavarian brekkies ...
