  1. Well, these are the odds available now. Where would you guys be putting your virtual 100 quid? I'll have a bit of a gamble and stick it on Everton for a Top 4 Finish at 4/1. They'll need a couple of inspired signings in the transfer window, but this is as good a chance as they're likely to get. There must be a couple of internationals getting itchy feet with the World Cup coming up ...
  2. Personally, I refuse to set foot on the high-density 777s operated by Emirates and Etihad, so I would probably end up flying to somewhere like HK for a day or two and getting a cheapie from there into Clark.
  3. I think Etihad involves a codeshare via MAN or LHR.
  4. I would think probably Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai province.
  5. I think they were my 'tip' for the team to watch last season and I praised Pardew - end result; almost relegated. I've always had a soft spot for them since the Texaco Cup games against Hearts ... no away goals rule, so they beat us on penalties.
  6. Made even more memorable by Cheick Tioté actually scoring. With wins already in the bag against Chelsea and Man Utd, I'll be hoping for a big-name treble and watching Tioté's return - the Toon missed his considerable presence early on against Stoke. Another hard game for Liverpool on the cards ... their players will be totally knackered before they host Hull on New Year's Day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2sTWK4cTvI
  7. Well, that explains why they had to come up with all the Kama Sutra nonsense.
  8. I subscribe to, and am a FF with, Qatar, but for reasons I don't understand, I don't receive e-mail notifications of their regular 3/4/5/6 day sales. If anyone does receive notification of, or becomes aware of, a Qatar Airways Sale in the next couple of weeks, can you post the details here. Thanks a lot.
  9. Any particular bar on Soi 2 that you'd recommend?
  10. They're just a bit wary about supporting the French. I think they should adopt La Marseillaise at St James'. They wouldn't even have to learn the words ... just make them up as they go along ....
  11. Aye, "Bah, humbug!", said Martin Atkinson. What's with Tim Howard? 4 yellows and a red to his name this season. Is he a slow learner, or what?
  12. I think you now have a branch of Thai Watsadu in Pattaya ... they'll have whatever you're after.
  13. Yes, Greg, I'm aware of all these things. What I don't understand is the exact correlation between the market price of rice in Udon Thani and how many Baht I get to the UKP. I would guess that borrowing a couple of trillion to build a railway isn't, on the face of it, a very good idea either, but lots of financial commentators seem to think otherwise. I don't really understand the 'why' bit. What I did witness was an ice-skating rink in Hat Yai that charges 250 Baht an hour absolutely packed out and long queues outside ... I wonder where they get the money for that - that's before obse
  14. Where they are at the halfway point on 31st December will be a better guide as to how far they've really progressed ... with Suarez though, anything could happen ... That said, it's not inconceivable that they could go into the New Year's Day games in 4th or 5th place.
  15. I'm not a "financial" guy, but have read more than a few credible reports over the last 6 months or so that question the basic fundamentals of the Thai economy, but none that have expressed the opinion that all is well (except from a few Thai sources). I don't understand the numbers, so just have to go on my gut instinct ... i.e. where is the funding coming from that is fuelling all the rampant consumerism I see everywhere.
  16. Bangkok will empty out during what is effectively a 4-5 day holiday. It's actually a good time to visit the capital.
  17. The "Yellows" have morphed, quite appropriately, into the Blackshirts.
  18. Getting back on topic ... from The Wall Street Journal ... things aren't getting any better ...
  19. Apologies if someone has already posted a link to the movie. If you appreciate Thai comedy and horror, you could do a lot worse than settling down for an hour or two to watch Pee Mak Prakanong. One of the few Thai movies that you can watch with a teelack and both be entertained ... Lots of options to download on the main torrent sites - be careful to read the comments though - there is one copy with subtitles that appear to have been done by one of those girls that act as the local e-mail compiler ...
  20. The City Council is appreciative of your valuable input.
  21. Credit to the City planning people ... they have contracted out the design of the new, safer roundabout to a team of British consultants ...
