General Election - Impact for Tourists

You'd be better using the report function in that case. That's what it's there for. Why not start a thread in Purgatory, to vent your feelings? -
How full do the Thai Airways flights get on the LHR-BKK route?
CheshireTom replied to Gus's topic in Airline Discussion
BA has one daily flight nowadays - mid-afternoon from LHR and 11 a.m. from BKK. -
When are you flying?
-
Steve Clark's gone from WBA. Seems a bit harsh IMHO.
-
It seemed to be happening on Google links. Clearing my cache appears to have fixed it (at least for now).
-
There have been several derailments on the route recently. Personally, given the cost of flights on that particular route, I'd give the train a miss.

Christmas Donation Visits

I've used the pic before ... I just cropped it so it focuses more on their eyes. I'll probably be using it as my virtual Xmas Card this year ... -
Agreed. I'm looking forward to it.

C'mon guys, can you please take your personal issues elsewhere? No need to threadfuck. -
I don't think it's really necessary to have an actual "competition" ... just set the categories and I think BMs should just summarise what was (for them) the highlights of the year, and why. Without any accompanying text outlining reasons, you'll just end up with a replication of the reputation system. Oh, and if we are voting, the voting should be public. We don't want any Qatar 2022 type scandals ....

There is a direct bus service from Mo Chit ... no change of vehicle. Cost is 750 Baht one-way, goes via Aranyaphet and takes approx 8 hours including the border procedures . A good report of the actual journey is here ... (not my pics)

Best Trip Report (Outside Pattaya) - Patna (Kanchanaburi and Hua Hin). I'm not a huge fan of the eat, drink, sleep, fuck, repeat type TRs so Patna's TR early in the year had lots of good info and, as usual, a great variety of excellent photos. Best Trip Report (Pattaya) - capdagde's "The Final Instalment" - I really like Andy's writing style and perception of what makes a good trip. Top class stuff. Best Photo Essay - (as opposed to TR) ... RhinoTusk's Terminal 21 offering. Another thread that caught and retained my attention. Best Avatar - brotherbuzz's bird does for me. M

Disclaimer ... the motivation for this post is to share information that other BMs may find useful, not to show how clever I am. The system of using DHL to convey the application via Hong Kong is no more. The new system is direct to the Passport Office in Liverpool - 175 quid for a thickie ...

General Election - Impact for Tourists

As with everything in life, everyone has to make their own decisions and it's good that you've made yours. I think that threads such as these are beneficial as they allow folk to make their own decisions based on whatever information is available at the time. That may be true, but only if you ignore the storming of the media centre at the Royal Cliff, the helicopter evacuation of the ASEAN government ministers and mob attack on the Prime Minister's car ... all events that happened in Pattaya. Besides, the tourist trade in Bangkok is hardly insignificant. -

My own worry is that what we are seeing is the beginning of the "endgame" being played out ... i.e. to be in control come the day we can't talk about. I don't see an obvious solution that will satisfy both sides. As for the Reds, probably conserving their energy and/or resources. -

I didn't give anyone advice, I answered your question and provided information. If you don't like that, then don't bother posting the question in the first place. And, if you aim personal comments in my direction, I'll respond in kind. If you prefer otherwise, don't make the comments in the first place. Simple. -

You need to change the thread title then ... which seems to have slipped your mind ... Netbook wont boot up! and Macbook advice You asked about the differences when buying a Mac in Thailand ... other than the keyboard. Another BM suggested the warranty. Perhaps that also slipped your mind. Providing an example of the international warranty you get in Thailand isn't, as you suggest, anything to do with proving anyone wrong - it's about providing accurate information. I wish you'd stick to that, and take your own advice, rather than coming out with your personal crap. Give a guy a -

We're talking about buying a product in Thailand and taking it back to UK. What goes on in the US is irrelevant as far as that discussion goes. This is the excerpt from my English Language version of the warranty that I received when I bought my new iMac in Hat Yai last year. I've highlighted the part applicable to seeking service in a country other than where the Mac was purchased ... Whether I could have had it repaired in UK is anyone's guess ... you have to jump through several hoops beforehand. What I do know is that I am several hundred quid better off than if I had bought it i -

From Clark you're limited to TigerAir (or whichever airline is operating the service for them). No idea about Manila.

You get Apple's standard 1 year "Limited Warranty" for an iMac or MacBook I believe - just as you do in the UK. The same is not true for iPhones ... are they not set up for local carriers? I don't think that Apple's warranty is any worse than any other manufacturer - and it's a lot better than many. As it is, when you purchase from the online Apple shop in Thailand, the product is shipped from Singapore - it is not a grey-market product.
