if you are good at budgeting your mney just do it,it is allways nice to have planty of money but if you don't. you don't... right about now i would be happier sitting outside 7/11 and drinking chang beer than here in the east cost under a foot of snow with nothing to do and baht in my pocket

Looking for a cheap condo in Pattaya
pattayachip replied to antony_pattaya_555's topic in Expat Issues
anthony can you name the 3 hotels you found for 10k?that's not to bad considering with hotels they are inclusive of water, electric and daily maid service, you might want to check out "lafontaine" at the end of walking st.(no personal experiance with the place yet) -
i can tell you what not t do,like spend it,or "invest"it in the stock market when in dought there is only one thing to do,NOTHING,just bank it 5.5% cd"s,5.75-6% after 2:15 EST. june 23rd,good luck
-
banks in massachusetts are offering 6 to 36 month cd's at 5.5% ,most likely 5.75% after the fed meeting on june 28th,all fdic insured

i kind of had the feeling that this was comming eventually, loopholes can be blocked, most homeowners that i personaaly know(5 people) are married to thais long time and have it in both names,so those people should be all set now as far as condos,i would not be surprised to see down the road a 20%-30% farang ownership tax or something to that effect, there will be nothing we can do about it except pay or sell, afterall we can't vote anyone in or out of office and i dought your evearge thai will shed a tear for a farang...
-
i too have thought long and hard about buying vs renting,so far i am leaning towards renting for a year first,it does not make much sence to buy if you are not going to be there more than 6 months a year,it also helps if you know other farags in the complex, and last but not least, only spend what you could afford to walk away from, just in case
-
mgc i hear what you are saying, but for 38-40 baht, can't expect too much, you could allways order 2 breakfast,if you got a big appetite,i usually get a blt,or ham and cheese sandwitch with it,it uasually hit's the spot just right, for 79baht cheers

Going Without a Reservation during Christmas
pattayachip replied to jakedsnake's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
stayed there on my first trip to pattaya 5 years ago,o.k hotel, lousy breafest buffet, cold food, they did't bother lighting the wormers under the trays, yes ther is a joiner fee,one day i was charged twice, since i had 2 different s/t,i would not recommend ,they also cater to chinese bus tours, but if that's all you can find it's o.k,go with bigD's advice and try the skytop 1st -
