  1. You've been told that weekends are more expensive, another thing is that a lot of courses allow up to 6 (yes, s i x ) players in a group at weekends. You DO NOT want to tee off behind 6 Koreans, with at least 6 buggies. Normal courtesy would be that they would allow you to play through if you're in a smaller, faster, group - won't happen. I encountered just that the first time I golfed in Pattaya - fortunately not on the first round or I could have been put off for good. 7 hours it took, 7 hours.
  2. I flew BIMAN (Bangladesh Airways) once (only once, never ever again). The plane was dirty - ingrained dirt, not surface dirt - as if it had only ever been wiped over, never with hot soapy water. The flight attendants were great but the passengers were some of the most unpleasant people I've ever encountered. The ground staff, especially at Dakar airport were the absolute worst I've ever seen, they actually went out of their way to make things difficult for the white travellers. But, the food was by far the best I've ever had on a plane, go figure.
  3. Hilly, Believe it or not, there are actually golf courses in the UK.
  4. Oops, missed that, thanks.
  5. OH MY GOD IT'S TRUE Royay Bank of Scotland press release I thought it was a wind up, sorry ashboy. I can just imagine it; Greg walks up to an exchange in Pattaya and hands over a handfull of notes with his own picture on them. Now, where are the boys in brown???
  6. Has anyone seen a seat plan of EVAs new 777 yet?
  7. If you use Pattaya airport (Utapo) DON'T take pictures. As Gus says, its a MILITARY/civil airport. You don't want to be seen taking photos in a MILITARY airport, they really don't like that.
  8. Well, thanks to doghaus, I got my tickets on Friday. The travel agent couldn't get me Evas Evergreen Deluxe on the dates I wanted, but doghaus could. Thanks, I owe you some beers. This board never ceases to impress me.
  9. I still fancy the idea of a coach trip - N.B. a coach, not a minibus! And a stopover somewhere that's not on the "normal" tourist trail sounds interesting. My usual guide as to what comprises the "normal" tourist trail is "does it have a MacDonalds", if not, it'll do nicely.
  10. Does anyone have contact details for Lewiinskis in Soi Pattayaland 1? Their website seems to be down and the only email address I have doesn't get replied to. Thanks.
  11. I don't know either of you, but enough of this please. For the sake of the non-combatants, please keep it to PMs and out of the forums.
  12. Looking forward to it. Still flight hunting but there's plenty time yet.
  13. And now the Evergreen Deluxe is fully booked. Bugger.
  14. Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I'll go for it, I was worried that someone would say it was going to be a lot cheaper in a month or so. The extra 5 Kgs baggage that Evergreen Deluxe gives will be useful and I want the larger seat (BIG Brian, get it!).
  15. This will be my first trip in late Oct/Early Nov. I've been offered £635 EVA Air LHR-BKK direct Evergreen Deluxe. Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal or if I should wait a couple of months to see if it gets cheaper nearer to the time? It's a gamble I know, I'm just trying to get an idea of the odds, I've never booked anything except economy before. Thanks
  16. doghaus, I'm just in the process of finalising my arrangements and I'd like to check that I've got the dates for your program correct - it all sounds good. I do tend to get into a rut in Pattaya; golf, drinking in a dozen or so bars, a girl or two each night and repeat. It'll be nice to go somewhere else and, well, play golf, drink and take a girl or two each night. Is this correct? Fri 4 Nov - Catz (ex Kittens) open Mon 7 Nov - RideHer cup Sunday 13 Nov - fly to Chiang Mai with the clubs going on a minibus, which will be there to get us to and from the courses/bars/cells, etc. Mon
  17. I love taking new golfers out. They miss the ball, hit it inches rather than 100s of yards, hit it in any given direction - and a few that simply don't seem possible. Usually they get fed up and pissed off after a few holes and start hacking at it. Then, after a bit, they connect with one properly and it soars out there down the middle or, they drop a putt in from 30 feet or so. You can watch the light dawn in their eyes and, from that moment on, they're a golfer. I think that a religious conversion must look like that. Then they spend a lot of cash on clubs and every Saturday for
  18. Definitely up for the Pattaya bits, not sure yet about the Chiang Mai. It's the travelling on the 13th that I don't fancy, that's my 50th and I don't think that I want to spend it travelling. On the other hand, I'd love to see Chiang Mai......I'll have to think about that. If I was to go, I'd vote for the coach, as long as the seats were really, really big! You don't see much of the country from a plane.
  19. Well, I don't know Fornicator, but I've met Big Kev and he's just a little fella really.
