My long ago marketing class mantra was that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Ricky is almost an Icon in the Pattaya GG bar community. The one time I was ever in Private Dancer it was to meet him. My first visit to Pandora's was for the same reason. I tend to go there more often because I like RH and after getting pissed on 55 Baht beer at RH everyone looks good ... well maybe not Alex so much. Just the fact that Pandora's is even on the radar of any visitor to Pattaya is more related to Ricky and Pandora's tend to get discussed on the fora. It's just a single shophouse in an ou

Fra Pattaya on Beach Road near 2nd Road

My view is Leng Kee roast duck is the best in any Pattaya reasonably priced place but FP is good too. Which to go to for me depends on where I am at the moment, so WS area then FP, Central Pattaya then Leng Kee. Don't discount MK if you are dining with a pooying; MK has to be in the Top 10 of all Thai restaurants for pooying, and their roast duck is about as good as anywhere. -

I thought it was for the long years awaiting the BBBUUUSSST prediction to transpire. -
Wonder how long it will be before the first m/c taxi bloke rides his bike up/down that new Pedestrian bridge.

That wouldn't keep LOLdusa in cheese steaks for a month.

Yeah, I've seen that "little place" in the sticks. I'll give you 700,000 Baht for it LOL.

I received one of those dodgy PA Nordic investment opportunities eMails too. You need to be very careful who you trust in Pattaya including websites.

"Borrowing" the 800,000 for a retirement visa.
SimplySam replied to rmicheald's topic in Expat Issues
You do get your feelings hurt often don't you? Why is that? It's just the internet. I'm not sure what "term" you are unfamiliar with, but irony would definitely be on the list. There is no need to jump to any conclusions, only read the thread you refer to where you "stopped posting" and then wandered off to this one to make some oblique weak argument that you failed to make on the aforementioned thread. Lame. But I look forward to that drink or three, maybe tko can join us. -

LOL, I'm sure you miss the irony. We get it, your feelings are hurt because tko made an offhand word play describing Brits as insular, but no reason to extrapolate what was said in that thread about incomes to support some ridiculous argument of Galt67's. Go back and cite/quote anyone, tko included who argued monthly incomes of 100,000 Baht were the majority or even normal. I'll wait but it will be a long silent one unless you make something up or use that fertile imagination. Those I read were making points that 100,000 Baht incomes were not unusual, and certainly not limited to 1% of -
It's not like there is such an abundance of recent threads that someone posting a thread similar to another should be criticized for that audacity.

You had argument(s) with TKO in that thread that got out of hand, but that thread was TF long before that by Galt67 who claimed that only 1 out of 100 retirees/long stays in Pattaya had income streams of +100,000 Baht/month. Others claimed 1/100 was much under weighted. No one claimed the majority had income streams of +100,000/month. It was your imagination that it was a consensus view because you were getting hammered in that thread. But good effort getting in jabs in other threads after you lost that debate. -
Yeah, I saw that ... weird. Most of the coffin dodgers up here in Udon Thani seem to opt for the certified income route. The US Embassy sends a rep up here to UT each year and there are dozens of retirees there getting those income letters. I'm curious as to why any Yank would do it any other way. There is no proof asked for so the income can be anything the petitioner decides.
-
Actually you can mix the two thresholds, e.g., 400k in the bank for a few months and 65,000/2 monthly income (which is less than the current average monthly SS check amount in the US). If you are a US citizen, the US Embassy in Bkk will issue the income verification just for your asking, and $50. They don't require any proof, so you may as well go the monthly income route.

Nigerian E-mail scam reaching new frontiers!
SimplySam replied to Fatboyfat's topic in Funnies Section
Do some people still get scammed by anything from Nigeria these days? I guess they do or the scammers would move on to something more lucrative such as promoting global warming. Ironically, here is a recent article about the physical toll on an American who is just back from only one year in space. http://marketbusinessnews.com/physical-toll-of-a-year-in-space-for-scott-kelly-and-mikhail-kornienko/126149 Apparently space causes Americans to go bald LOL. -

Any cow with rib bones that skinny would break them regularly breathing. Those are definitely pork regular ribs, just not the St. Louis or Chinese style short ribs.

I used to laugh walking down Soi 4, a narrow, perhaps 5-meter wide street @ Bangkok's beer bar center of excellence, one set of Geezers at Golden bar staring across that 5-meter strip at others at Hillary/K&S/Zen/Stumble Inn, etc., who also traveled thousands of miles to sit and drink their vacations away staring into oblivion waiting for the wonder. So I miss it too.
