As additional related information, - The 1 year license and now for 2 years - You get an additional 2 years license when you renew if you are on a short term stay permission, e.g., the 30 days visa exempt, 60 days tourist visa, etc, You get 5 years license validity upon expiry of your 2 years license if you have a long stay permission, e.g., a retirement "visa." - if you are driving in Thailand on either your home country license or an International license and have not gotten a Thai license after a "reasonable" amount of time, your auto insurance may be invalid as they often are worded to the effect of subject to a valid drivers license for the location. The Thai authorities intent, like in many other countries, is for an International license to be valid only for short visits. The fact that you got lucky and the nice BiB accepted your International license for the past several years does not mean it doesn't provide an escape for your Insurer. Check with your Insurer before having to learn after an accident. - Thailand has a reciprocity agreement with many other countries allowing use of a TDL in other countries. It works well and I have successfully rented cars in the US using my TDL and it held up in a traffic stop in North Carolina although the redneck cop did spend several minutes in his patrol vehicle verifying. Bottom line, if you are going to drive in Thailand for more than a month or so, get a TDL, it isn't that difficult.

It often is not on Disunited. The same $950 Bkk/Chi return flight on America's great airline was $6,500 for Business class even though they use partners Thai and ANA for the Narita/Bkk shuttle. So dealing with Thai or ANA directly on a Disunited code share is one way to bypass Disunited's predatory pricing.

Now back to the topic at hand if you will permit it, I just upgraded on the Thai flight this morning from cattle class to business from the Swamp to my connection at Narita. It was another 525 $US, and the entire ticket round trip from Chicago to Bkk was $945 but I thought it a worthwhile treat for myself as I journey back to the brainwashed PC Obamaland. Yeah, I left some pork for any Mo that might be looking for souvenirs.

I assumed they were officials of their respective governments even if their primary allegiance is to Mo. I always leave some dirty undies and some dried pork on top in my carry-on; Mo boys seem to lose interest in my balls after that. YMMV, as some seem to enjoy the frisking and as the expression goes in the Middle East, i.e., Luton, Bradford, Rotheram, Tower Hamlets, etc., women are for family, men for companionship and young boys for sex. If you join the Thai frequent flyer scheme there is an option for receipt of notices from Thai. I get their sales/specials that way. Thai are usually higher priced for me than other airlines flying to Thailand but once is a while they offer a reasonable price, although never during Holidays season in my experience and usually with restrictions such as fly a certain period, certain length of stay, etc. From London I will sometimes take the short hop to CDG in Paris and take the Thai Paris/Bangkok direct leg on the 80 as it is often empty and you can spread out into an entire row. It is about the same from Bkk to CDG. The biggest downside is being frisked not only by the Pakis at Heathrow but also the Algerians at CDG.

My timeout on ThaiVisa was for asking Chivas (Chivas/Chatkeow/King_Midas and probably many more aliases here) how much he made "shorting" Facebook after he advised he had "inside" information that it has headed for bankruptcy. This was soon after the IPO when it had dropped from $50/share to about $25/share. Less than a week after Chivas' "insider" post it started a climb and is now over $80/share. Old Chivas now trolls over at Secrets forum as General_Rastus. His recent financial "wisdom" was to short the FTSE Index at Easter because it was sure to plummet after the UK allowed pensioners to cash out their pensions at age 55. Of course the FTSE immediately shot skyward to an all time high LOL.
