  1. Heres the website. You can book online if you want and also get a price quote. http://www.bumrungrad.com/
  2. I know every airline I've flown (all the major asian airlines yes everyone except for singapore and cathay) have allowed me to change my return ticket at no charge. Just change when in thailand but sometimes they can be booked ahead for quite awhile. They call the return flight home the outbound flight and should be no problem
  3. If your serious next time there just talk with a few owners of bars to get some general information then head to asia books and look for the book with the black cover and yellow title that i believe is titled something like start up and stay up in thailand. Not sure of the exact title but you recognize it when you see it. Lots of usefull info in that book.
  4. Hell yes thailand has adopted those stupid security measures even more so then the states. In US you go through security and then buy water or something from the store you can take it on the plane. In Thailand nope can't do that. Also just came back from Thailand with the 2/12 yr old daughter. Brought milk in the little boxes they sell there could only take 2. Since thats all we could fit in that stupid plastic zip lock bag. Talk about frigging stupid
  5. I wire money here in the States to Bangkok Bank in U.S. dollars once it hits Bangkok Bank they convert it into Baht. No charge from Bangkok Bank or my bank here in the states. Make sure you send it in your home currency or your going to get ripped off big time if they convert it first in your home country

    What to farm

My wifes sister grows oyster mushrooms and the spores. They grow them in a triangle shaped hut that is about 10-15 meters long in plastic bags using sawdust brought up from southern Thailand mostly by the city Trang. They do extremelly well and profitable. They are the biggest supplier of mushrooms in their province. They mostly supply everyone from restaurants to other small time mushroom farmers with the spores. Everytime I go back they keep expanding the farm.
  7. Taltos, Thanks for the tip. The quarry where we are buying the marble had already stressed that to the wife. They had done their two bathrooms all in marble and we were blown away by the way they looked. Luckily they are hooking us up with the same people they used to install.
  8. You can add your pc to ur tv. I've got a sony HDTV that has a vga connection in the back all I do is plug in the vga connector and I've got my pc on the tv. Works pretty good although I like doing my computer stuff on my computer screen and taking movies(mostly homemade) and watching them on the tv. Check out this youtube video
  9. Bullfrog My wife is from that area around kampangphet. She starts building our house in Jan so hopefully everything goes ok. Have you checked out the Chakungrao Riverview Hotel in kampangphet. Brand new hotel that has gotten some good reviews. By the way if your interested theres a good marble quarry around 40 minutes from Kampangphet. We stopped there and were quoted prices of 550-850 baht for 1 square meter. Were looking at doing our floor and bathrooms in marble.
  10. You might try Yusen Air & Sea Service. They have offices world wide as well as an office in BKK I have used them before and was extremely happy with their service. http://www.yusenusa.com/yusenworld.htm
  11. Good question. I paid when I checked in at the ticket counter but in Taipei I paid at the front lounge desk. You might be able to do the same at the BKK airport. I'm pretty sure you could do this with any airlines lounge though.
  12. Just got back from Thailand and decided to use the EvaAir lounge at the BKK airport. Since I was flying economy deluxe didnt have a lounge pass so decided to pay. Cost was 850 baht for 1 adult. Came to 1700 for my wife and I and my 2 yr old daughter was free. The price was worth it to me since we got to the airport 3 hours early. Figure I made my money back with all the alcohol I drank.
  13. That chick did this video then about 4 yrs later gets a job with pbs doing a kids show. PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) finds out about it and fires her
  14. You might want to try penthouse hotel Go for the cheap room $22 a nite although right over the go-go. You can hear the thumping of the bass but you get used to it. I have stayed there twice and never had a problem. The best thing about it is its close to all the action and there is never any problem with guests.
  15. Flown JAL once found it to be alright. I just always show up a 1/2 hr before checkin opens, get in line (normally I'm the first or second in line) and when I check in ask for the aisle emergency row exit. With every airline I have flown I have never been denied the seat (dont know if I'm lucky or they just take pity on me since I'm 6'5") Of course now I only fly Eva air evergreen deluxe and I still do the same thing with them and make sure I get the aisle emergency exit seat. Always get it.
  16. bob2005 When did they change the smoking policy? Every time I have been there I have been able to smoke. Is this a new policy they have?
  17. Have stayed there a few times. I like the rooms very accomodationg although the walls are a bit thin. Extremelly guest friendly no problem at all. The breakfast is really good as well as the rest of the menu. I think on tuesdays they do an all you can eat mexican buffet which is decent. Great food and great people. I highly recommend.
  18. Try the diamond riverside hotel-- http://www.ash-hotel.com/diamondriverside.htm Its ok about a 2 minute walk to nite market. Or try the Porng Ping tower-- http://www.ash-hotel.com/pornpingtower.htm I think this is the hotel with a good disco in it but not sure. Also if you get a chance right by the diamond riverside hotel is a restaurant called the Antique House. Some of the best food in chiang mai. Serves authentic northern style dishes.
  19. I have to admit the diamond riverside is a hit and miss hotel The first time I stayed there was a month in the old wing(its out front across from pornping) the rooms were nothing to write home out but at 300 bt a nite were cheap for the location( I stayed one month) The next time I went there stayed in the newer wing with wife and her parents (thai) The breakfast was ok while we were there but then maybe by then I had gone a little bit native I have talked to a few people who have stayed at the downtown inn and they seemed to like it. But again this is second hand knowledge
  20. You might want to try the diamond riverside hotel in C.M. The newer wing and not the old hotel. Rooms have a view of the river has swimming pool. Mostly used by asian tourists. Buffet breakfast was good. The rooms are ok. Also for a great place to eat try the Antique house. Its on the same street as diamond riverside and pornping hotel. Some of the best food I have ever had in thailand. And if your looking to get away from Downtown I recomment the Sua Bua Resort. Its about 35 minutes from Dwntwn and is a great hotel. The Jr. suites at $75.00 cant be beat. They are huge and even have 2 bathroo
  21. Hey Bought my tickets for eva air economy deluxe using a travel agent in sacramento. leave may 13 return june 5 total price including tax was $924.00 SfO-BKK
