  1. I rented from Eric for 16 months until very recently, when I bought my own place. I enjoyed staying at one of Eric's condos. He is a good guy to do business with and I highly recommend him.
  2. I opened a savings account with the Bank of Ayudhya on South Pattaya Road near the Friendship Supermarket. All I needed was my passport with a tourist visa. It cost 300 THB to get an ATM Debit card, which I had to pick up a week later. A few month ago I opened another savings account with the Kasikorn Bank. Again, all I needed was the passport and an address in Thailand. I got the ATM debit card on the same day. The Kasikorn Bank has very good Internet banking, which I use to transfer money from my bank account in Australia and to other people's accounts. The Kasikorn Bank has many branche
  3. Lido Travel on Beach Road, in the little Soi on the left, between Starbucks and McDonalds, just before you get to Walking Street. Lido Travel is next door to Starbucks. Phet, a Thai lady, speaks better English than most people I have met in Pattaya. She has worked there for years and does complex bookings to anywhere.
  4. Like I said, I bought a condo in the same building. The condo I bought is getting refurbished, so I had to move some of the stuff. If you want to make me an offer for the old Toshiba TV sitting on the floor near the balcony, PM me. It will go cheap. You blokes are very observant.
  5. Post deleted at condo owner's request.
  6. Hi Bill, Your lady and my lady are the best of friends, You already know that. Your TG has successfuly moved to her new place just a few doors away and she did all the hard work by herself. I hope you enjoyed the pics I helped to send a few days ago. The Internet Cafe down below was out of commission. I hope to get to know you better when you get back for your next break from Iraq. Stay safe.
  7. I am happy to give a good reference and post a picture. I have been renting from Eric for more than a year and it was a good descicion to move into one of his places. I don't think I will be moving from here for a long time to come. Eric is a top guy and I don't give any kudos unless they are well deserved. I am happy to give a good reference and post a picture. 8. You are not wrong. I should this pic to an electrician friend in Australia and he could not believe what he saw.
  9. Yes, It did. DATE 04/07/07 TRANSACTION DECLINED CONTACT BANK TOTAL CASH 20.000 DEPOSIT AMOUNT 20 000 My point is, what happens if you don't follow it up and why doesn't the machine return the cash if it is not credited to your account?
  10. BE CAREFUL WITH ATM CASH DEPOSITS This morning I went to my Kasikorn Branch in Jomtien to deposit 20 000 Baht into my Savings Account. I used the Cash deposit ATM outside the bank. I followed the prompts and put my 20 000 Baht into the tray. When the screen said 20 000 THB. Correct? I hit the YES button and retrieved my ATM card. I then went to update my Passbook on the adjacent ATM machine for Passbook Updates. You have guessed it. The 20 000 Baht I had just deposited were missing from my account. It took them half an hour inside the bank to correct the mistake. Their final answer
  11. Ring Eric, a cool American guy, on +086 111 4136. I have been renting one of his condos from him in Jomtien for more than a year now. I am very happy the way things have worked out. He will have a nice condo in your price range at less than 10 000 Baht (studio). It will cost a bit more if you want to have a bigger place. 2 very nice swimming pools and very close to the beach. I have no financial interest in this and I only reply because Eric has always done the right thing by me.
  12. Your answer stopped me from being confused. The Internet can be a marvellous thing some of the time. Thanks mate
  13. I eat at Simple Simon's in Soi 5 off Jomtien Beach Road at least twice a week. Just had Liver, Bacon, Chips and some other Pommie stuff a few hours ago. I think it was 115 Baht and I loved the food. Maybe they have a sub-branch at the Jomtien Complex. I will ask as I don't like to make you sound wrong. I also like the Schnitzelhaus a bit further down Soi 5 as they serve very generous portions of good German food. My Scot mate's (Mick) bar, the I.Q. Bar is right next to the Schnitzelhaus. You cannot go wrong eating at Simple Simon's place in Soi 5 in Jomtien or the Schnitzelhaus in Soi 5. The
  14. My 2 favourite places early in the morning when I'm half-pissed amd hungry. The food is cheap with a good menu and the service staff is polite and efficient. Both places are 24/7. Most TGs love going there after a night out.

    Thanks for the useful link.
  16. Yes, I agree. Having said that I have had breakfast there often, normally on my way home with a belly full of piss at 2AM in the morning. Kiss are not top quality but they are 24/7, their food is clean and the waiters/waitresses are polite and efficient. Who wants to have breakfast after waking up in the morning with a nice TG sleeping next to you? I would rather wait for lunch about 2-3PM in the afternoon.

I love going by train from Hualumpong in BKK to Hua Hin. Last time I went by RAPID train 3. Class/Fan. The ticket was a bit over 200 Baht and the trip was comfortable and took a bit over 4 hours in the afternoon. The seats were comfortable, the toilets were clean and they sold beer and food at very cheap prices. Most of the passengers were Thai Muslims going back to Hat Yai and Yala. I was the only bloke who got off at Hua Hin station with my TG. The train station is only a short walk, about 15-20 min. from the central Night Bazaar area and cheap hotels. I first stayed at the Siripetchkase

I have a few friends in Hua Hin, not far from Cha'am. They go by bus to Ranong and from there by longboat over to Myanmar (Burma). The bus from Hua Hin to Ranong takes about seven hours.
  19. Stop your bitching. I paid A$ 289 for my new Australian passport last April. It was a frequent traveller one, which means it has an extra 16 pages.
  20. Last Monday was my third flight with Tigerairways from Darwin to Bangkok. It cost me A$ 256 (including taxes) for a one-way ticket. There was a six hour stop-over at the Budget terminal in Singapore. Not much of a problem as it gave me enough time to have a nice breakfast and lunch before the short flight up to Bangkok. I caught the Bell bus at Level 1 (on the far left) at Suvarnabhumi. It was pleasant ride on the near empty bus (150 Baht). At Pattaya Nua bus station they immediately transfered me into one of their shuttle buses and drove me to my condo in Jomtien. They had a promotion on
  21. There is no vaccine for Hep C as yet. You should also get a booster shot after five years.
  22. I can recommend Eric's condos at the Jomtien Beach Condominium complex. I have been renting from him for nearly a year. Eric is a cool guy and easy to get along with. I like the place because it is quiet at night with very good security people at the front gate and at the entrance of every building. The studio I am renting from Eric had an existing telephone connection and some of his friends helped me to get an ADSL connection working in less than a week. The best feature, in my opinion, are the two large swimming pools. There are better condominiums to be found in Jomtien and P
  23. I just returned from Bangkok using the bus from Ekamai. The bus ticket (113 baht) has a promotion for the Flipper Lodge on Soi 8 printed on it. It says if you produce the Roong Reuang bus ticket, the hotel will give you a 30% discount from 1 March to 15 November and a 20% discount from 16 November to 28 February. Cheers
