With united ff miles you can route on multiple star allianciance carriers. Ex Sinapore for SFO to HKG thai for HKG to Manila, Thai for Manila BKK, United BKK to Tokyo, Thai for tokyo to sfo. You just can't backtrack i.e. sfo, tokyo, manila, tokyo, bkk, sfo. the back to tokyo from manila is not allowed. sOnce again Sinapore Biz clas has to be flown to be believed. Outstanding!! makes UAL and THAI's biz class look sick.

I've got a pair of the sony MD-5. Sony makes something like 7 or 8 models of noise canceling headphones. I got them at a office max that was closing for $30. they work really well and are not nearly as heavy as the Bose. the bose are probably the best, ... but an over the ear phone like the bose gets kinda heavy on an 11 hour flight.

Hey the best thing about United FF miles. On international you are allowed one stopover. that means that you can fly to manila. Stay 4 days. Go on to LOS stay 2 weeks and then return home. You don't have to route back the same way you flew in. Much better than a typical low cost ticket. You can even ask for specific airlines. I requested sinapore. I had to move my date by a day but i got it. I used 90k miles and flew business class. Sinapore BIz class is better than as United's first. Spectacular

I saw an add in the BAngkok post for swiss air. They were showing 20,000 baht roundtrip airfare bangkok and swiss, something like 29000 baht bangkok uk. might be worth checking their website if you are a UK punter.

Internet cafe/shop to plug in your own laptop?
cowboy replied to jnr's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I have never had any internet shop not let me plu in my own laptop. So ther must be plenty of shops that do. I have used several diffrent one. One of which solved a proble with my connection that several shops in the us had been unable to resolve. -
The ff miles will only be affected if United liquadates completely. I never have problem using ff miles. DON"T USE THE WEBSITE!!!. Call the 800 number. The website uses only united flights and will almost always come back nothing available for inyternation travel to asia. The 800 number will use any star alliance that can get you there and will route you however you want to go. With internation you get one stopover. So if you want to route LAx to manila with and 4 day stopover then on to bangkok for 10 days with a return to lax. No problem. I used 90 k united ff miles to fly biz clas

Socal guy, I walked third road (at 11:00 A.M.) looking for it and never found it. I don't know what the gyms other poster like to work out at are like. But I don't like any of the gyms I have found in pattaya. One of the post ssaid that the Gym at royal gardens has alot of equipment. Well that gym is the Marriot gym. And I would call the equipment very basic. The Montien had a decent gym but they are not BG friendly. The Hard rock gym is decent but also minimal. The Universal Gym at beach rd and soi 8 has a decent selection of free weights (a little rust on them) but not much equipment a

I would agree that for your honeymoon pattaya might not be the best choice. I have never been to phuket other board members here have, it might be a better choice or Koh sumui. Becuase you will have some jet lag you might want to spend a couple ore days in bangkok. For an nice day trip you can go up to auttaya. If you haven't booked hotels yet priceline has some good values in BKK and phuket. Check out the bidding4travel website for instructions on how to get the best priceline deal in thailand. People frequently get the shangra la in bkk for $45-65 a night. The Jw marriot in BKK and the

I havew reservations for sfo to bkk for sept, oct and nov on united $724, $768 and $782 or very close to those numbers. The price seems to vary most by leaving and returning on a weekend. Thurday departure with a monday return was the lowest fare.

The Gym at royal garden is the same as the Marriot Hotel Gym. Modern equipment but not close to being a full gym. The universe gym on beach road has weights but missing anything like elliptical trainers. As I recall they have treadmills and that is about it for that type of equipment. Worked out there and it was hot!! I was soaked in sweat after the first set.

I just got a $764 quote (including all taxes) on united flight for a wednesday departure sunday return sfo to bkk in november. includes a free night at a marriot.

Phuket air is advertising in Thai papers roundtrip between london and BKK for 19,900 baht. It is a special promotion to push their new service to the UK. It is good for travel until september 30. As I figure it that is $500 us. website is http://www.phuketairlines.com/popup/ogilvy/london.htm why do the brits get all the good deals.

I just got an email from united today listing several asian cities for 550 to 650 for travel after aug 1. BKK was not on the list but it is a good indicator that fall fares should be soft like in past years. My last trip I flew in Bix class on miles. The united flights over were good. The thai air biz class from bkk to HK were pretty lame . Old plane, average service definately a couple of steps down from uniteds biz class. I then flew singapore airlines biz class from hk to sfo. WOW compares to united's first class. Seating was fantastic converts to flat bed, great service, on demand

I have yet to find a non hotel gym in pattaya that didn't completely suck. That includes all those mentioned in this thread. The Hard rock's gym is minimal but okay, the marriots gym is modern equipment but a joke.

I would beg to differ. I am in LOS right now on a FF ticket from United. THEY WERE GREAT!!!. I tried to book in coach for 60K miles but the days when seats were available was limited. I asked about BIZ class and it was wide open. Every day in July united had biz class seats to LOS available. For the trip over I was to fly UA from sf to LA and then Thai airways from LA to BKK, but I changed my flight the day before I was to leave and united put on thier planes from SFO to BKK. No charge fro the change. I got to use the red acarpet room in norito on the transfers bewteen palnes. Free bo

I am staying at the majestic right now. I will take a couple of pics for you. I am paying 1100 baht for a delux room. It is slow season. Paid 1195 for a single superior last feb. -
Skyauction.com almost always has tickets to thailand for sale. Once in a while the trips allow a non us departure. They usually allow an open return for up to 180 days with a charge of $100 US if you want to extend the open return to 360 days. i have seen us to los tickets go as low as $400 US but usually the price is closer to $700 or $800. You might check it out to see if it meets your needs.

BIG mike, does the sandy springs have room safes? Their site doesn't say. And how do you get a 990 baht rate. They are quoting a internet special of 1200 baht. thanks

My first trip to pattaya I stayed Hard Rock, then marriott. Next time Jomtien. Since then I have used Residence garden . I like everything about it except the mattresses are hard. Loaction is not bad, the separate living room with fridge is great. Just wish the matresses were a little softer. My bud has been staying at the Sabadee Lodge and likes it. But then he like nana hotel BKK too. (but I will give that the nana hotel has great foam mattresses). I am thinking of trying something else this trip just for a change. Always going to the same hotel seems like always seeing the same BG.

gee running a marathon pissed with a BG in tow. They ought to have a special category for that. 3 am start might get a large turnout for that classification.
