  1. yeah I am geting them from the united website. Whne I lived in sac sometimes I would rent a car from sac airport and drop it off at sfo. Sometimes sac has the same price as sfo sometime hundreds more. I also usually plan on flying out on a wed or thur and return monday thru thur. Thats the lowest prices. Once I have found a low fare pair then I will try and see if I get get a similiar price on the weekend. But United has been doing some strange things on pricing. Sometimes their website has fares that are not offrered on travelocity or any other site. Some times they will show a fare of 1200 a
  2. I know alot of punters that go to Phuket. And they don't go on fixed trips. My guess is that they will redirect to pattaya.
  3. I figured I would start this thread as a service for newbies. I know of some people that pack everything they need for a 3 week trip and never wash clothes. I like to pack light so I usually bring only enough socks etc for 5 or 6 days. I then have them laundered. Hotels charge way to much so I use laundires by the hotel. I can usually get 5 pairs of socks, 5 t-shirts, 5 boxers, a pair of shorts, pants and a couple of shirts done for around 100 baht. Srevice has always been good drop things off at 5 or 6 in the evening and get them back 10 a.m. the next day. Shirst nicely folded. Everything
  4. RB try chicago (ord) united has direct flights from ord to nrt on 777. very nice accomadations. Many times the cost is cheaper or the same as flying from sfo. Flights to BKK same same.
  5. Talked to my wife a couple of hours ago. She said TV reports in pattaya are saying more than 100 falang died in phuket, hundreds more injured. With all the different scuba trips and islands etc off of phuket it will take days until the true damage and suffering in terms of human life are known.
  6. been checking alot of different dates on united. Been getting alot of fares for $724 or $749 on united Pilots just took another 15% pay cut.
  7. Stayed at the dynasty NOV 29, 30 and the sandy springs hotel DEC 4,5 next door to it. The sandy springs was 50 baht more. There is little comparison. Sandy is a much nicer hotel, better rooms, better staff, better lobby, better parking etc etc.
  8. most of the hotels also have monthly rates. I have found the monthly rate usually averges between 10 and 14 nights daily rate. If you are staying for 2 months it is very possible to get a place that charges 1500 baht a night for 20,000 baht for the month. especially if you are paying the first month in advance.
  9. My bud paid the contractor to finish out the shell of one of his condo's. At the rate it has been done I'd say that most punters could probably do it themselves and get it done faster.
  10. Pissed also means drunk in the US. But only if your are like 50+. for 20 somethings pissede is pissed off.
  11. Both Hawk and sfdude stayed at sabadee in septmeber. Give them a pm and ask
  12. suitcase. there are many hotels and serviced aparetments that will give a very good monthly rate. Even if you want to travel to BKK or phuket if you want to spend most of your time in pattaya, it will probably be worth it to book a place for 6 weeks. A typical deal would be a place that charges 1300 baht anight might give you a monthly rate of 16 -18,000 baht for a month.
  13. there is bowling at topps. You can always find plenty of BG that are willing to go with you. The is cart racing, movies, a lucifers disco. Xcite was being remodeled and was closed december 5. there is fishing, diving, bungy jumping, and parasailing from boats. BF 3 girls and go out to an island. Pet a tiger. Great thing about pattaya is ther is plenty to do.
  14. Roland, they have been remodeling the rooms as well. The remodeled ones don't smell like mold. Might surprise you
  15. I stayed at sandy springs December 4 and 5th. ther was very little nois from white house condo project. On the 6th They Brought in concrete pumpers and they were making a hell of a lot of noise. The whitehouse condo is not closed in yet. So if you are staying at sandy springs you could get very little noise or alot depends on what they are doing that day.
  16. I have a thai sim card as well. It is 1 2 call and only works in Thai. The cost to call US or Uk when dailing 009 1+ the numebr was 7 baht a minute. Pretty cheap really. I have t-mobile under contract in US. It works in thailand but the cost is 60baht a minute and they charge for incoming calls even if I don't answer. So 10 calls unanswered with the phone off coast 600 baht. I just take the sim out of the phone the minute I leave Us soil. doesn't work in Japan. the sim I bought in HKG works in Japan. I will try to find the name of the service. In the us it boots up as AT&T wireless. I will
  17. All the supplies you need should be readily avaiable in thailand at about 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the US. but just to be sure it would be nice if one of the boardies that is going to LOS in the next few weeks would stop by a pharmacy and check. Why don't you post up what you would need(exact description) and see if someone will be generous enough to do investigation for you. I checked on some scripts for other people in LOS. Fosamax 70mg pills was 2000 baht for 12. That compares to 6000 baht on the US. I have inquired at pharmacy and clinics. Winsterol, adriol, testoterone, HGH, clomid, and
  18. I will check when I get home but i think I have a mobal sim card from hong kong. The upside is that your number is connected no matter what country you are in. i.e it works in UK US THIA PI etc etc. As a result anyone calling my hong kong number will be connected to me. The downside is that since it is a hong kong numkber I can only call Honk Kong numbers unless I am in my home calling area i.e Hong Kong. I think mobal's thai sim works the same. I.e. anyone calling yoiur thai number would be connected to you no matter where you are. But once you are outside of thai land you can only call thia
  19. I have used both Directrooms.com and sino.net. Both have been able to get me rooms for 20-50% less than the prices booking directly on the hotels website. The problem with them is that It takes 24-36 hours for them to get back to you on a room. (typical of a lot of web-based discount agencies) If you are trying to book on short notice it can be very frustrating. If you are booking more than 3 weeks out then the delay is no big deal. Problem is the rooms are prepaid and non refundable. (but direct rooms allowed me to cancel and use the credit for a different stay later)
  20. I just flew back from bkk. thai to HKG then sin to SFO. I was flying using my united miles. the sin service was great but then the gave me priority service a window seat up front with a empty center seat. All becuase i am a united premier exec. Using United miles I have flown in biz class, coach, and upgraded a coach ticket to biz. I have never had any problem getting a milage ticket to BKK using the star alliance. Can anyone out there say the same for the other airlines. I have not flown EVA but 5 of my firends that have all say eva delux is great. but it takes a long time to earn a
  21. It is also about 30 meters from the new lolitas. I have not stayed there but have walked thru. Property seemed very nice.
  22. I was fooling around with a new feature on uniteds webpage and selected flexible dates. It came back with a fare of $296 including taxes for a SFO to sinapore flight in January. From sin to bkk is a quick trip for about 2k or 3k baht each way. So there are still some deals out there. Locked in a good ff milage trip at the last moment so I am wheels up in 24 hrs.
  23. clubman, sandy springs is now quoting 2500 baht for suite
  24. The dynasty inn pattaya website says it has inroom internet service. Anyone used it? Unfortunately my next trip will be my 5th this year and the only way my boss will let my ass out of the office is if I am online realtime with my office at least every other day. That means being on the internet at 12 midnight to 3 am with my laptop (it has buily in security software for logging into my office.) So I need internet connection when most shops are closed. BTW i have read all the posts about dynasty. A friend of mine has stayed at dynasty Inn bkk and resort pty for the last 4 years. He loves t
