Latest Cell phone registration Requirements
cowboy replied to av8r's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I have registred both my sims cards. Both are the from the largest company 1,2 call. In July when I turned on one of the sims I got a text message from 1,2 that said I had to register within 90 days or service would be disconnected. the one thing that registration has changed. It used to be that you could get the starter pack (including sim card) almost anywhere minimarts etc. becuase of registration many places stopped selling starter packs. -
I looki into other cities when i find too many high prices going to bkk. Manila, singapore and hong kong are all cities that have low cost airlines flying into bkk. Ypou burn a little extra time but the saving can be real. I just flew to singapore from sfo for 682. the cost on jetstar for sing to bkk and return was a little over $125 for a total of around $800. Becuase I am premier exec united gave me a free uprgrade to biz calss on the way back. Same dates flying to bkk were over $1300. I stayed in hotel 81 and fraqgrance hotel the first night and the last night before leaving. The only draw

barabra, I would agree with piero, you should check out siam bayshore. I have never been to cliif resorts but I understand they are very nice, but they are a bit out of the way not a big deal. the siam hotels bkk and pattaya are very nice and can be gotten for a moderate price. The bayshore property is very good.

I will look for the link. It is a good deal. I am flying to singapore for $682 wheels up in 72 hours. I will earn 16841 miles times 2 (i am a premier exec) for 33,682 miles plus the 5000 miles bonus plus 1000 miles for online booking. since i charge it on my miles plus card I will earn 1364 miles there. total miles for the trip 41,046 miles. when I fly my november trip I will earn the same. that will almost be enough for a free biz class ticket on singapore air. btw I am flying my wife and mia noi down to from bkk to sin to meet me. (they have become friends go figure) I booked on valujet

Problem I have had with eva I don't buy my tickets more than 4 weeks in advance and I usually have to go on specific days. Evry time i have checked the eva fars were $2000 for coach. The problem usually is that though eva will have a $725 fare it was sold out weeks or months before i even knew I could leave.

thanks for the post dung heap. United often has sales to tokyo for around 400 to 500. from tokyo to bkk takes 20,000 ff miles. If sing is adding flights on top of thais flights then it shoud make it much easier to use ff miles to get to bkk.

sick puppy. I have stayed at both the westin grande suhkumvit and the sheraton grande sukhumvit in bkk using priceline. The most I ever paid was $80 plus tax. Usually I get the rooms for $60 -$70. Everytime I have recieved starwood points for staying there. so it is not quite true that all prepaid rates don't get points.

Try checking on orbitz.com I plugged in several dates and got rates of about 550 pounds. the price are stated in dollars so you will have to convert. one you run a flight check using check +- 1 day and get results you can check again using -/+ 3 days. tha way you can find the cheapest fares.

mister handy from sing you can also make a side trip to bataam. check hills trip report in the archives. You may want to allow yourself a few days for that. -

In-asia low-cost airlines around peak season?
cowboy replied to mister_handy's topic in Airline Discussion
I was just checking swiss air after reading one of hillys reports. They had flights for sin to bkk for 150 to 250 us in economy depending on dates and business class for around $325 -
On my trip in july I was checking excahnge rates. The best rate i saw was for travelors checks. The rate I got for $100 U S bills was the next best rate. The exchange rate from my bank was a little less than the $100 bill rate.

United is in negotiations with boeing right now for orders of the new 747 freighter. They are buying( leasing) an entire fleet. They have landing rights for china and intend to expand freight service in a big way. The are finally getting their heads on right. Unitede had pulled back from the freight market, but their landing rights in asia and the increasing asia economy made it obvious that there was to much money to be made not to get into it. BTW part of united negotiations on the new 747 freighter is to get early delivery of 787s. The money is on asian flights. every notice how many fi

i have stayed at dynasty and sandy springs down the street. they are about the same price but sandy springs is definately better. dynasty is okay but shows wear. the staff at dynasty was very good and service was good. But I stay at sandy becuase the rooms are better and service is good there as well. btw if you are looking for the best pool then hard rock is the place.

my mistake tiger goes between singapore and manila. to fly from bkk requires flying thru singapore. tiger will not book it as a connection and tiger is selling tickets on their website for sin to manila. check out tiger air website. somebody is offering a bkk to manila direct flight for around $75 us each way. I was checking it out and found the fares and the booking for some dates i was looking at. Somebody else out their must remember what airline it is?

if you are only going to be there for 45 days try some of the hotels. from checking around I have found that the policy on long term varies greatly between hotels. At some place you might be able to get a deal where you pay only 30% or 40% of the daily rate if you are paying for a month in advance. Other want closer to the normal room rate. The only way you would know for sure is to ask. My guess is that you might be able to get a rate of maybe 20,000 baht for a month at sabai lodge new building compared to a daily rate of 1300.

try tiger or aisaair. One of them has a special bkk to clark-manila for about $125us.

I had dynasty bkk asking for cc details. I emailed them that becuase of cc fraud I didn't want to send cc info over internet. They responded no problem they would hold the room for a 12 midnight arrival.

In-asia low-cost airlines around peak season?
cowboy replied to mister_handy's topic in Airline Discussion
I just booked a rt trip from sfo to singapore for august 23rd on United. cost was $682 for trip including all taxes. from sin to bkk I will take either tiger air or air asia. both are flying for around $100. thai and sin air both want like 400 to 700 us for flights between sin and bkk. -
I stayed at flipper july 5-10. Paid 700 baht per night for standard room new wing and 900 baht for delux room new wing. flipper is okay but pretty barren. new wing isn't new just newer than the other. service was good a/c was okay but could not get the room cold, just cool. standard room is small. if you have the money I would recommend staying at the sabai lodge new building about 1300 baht or sandy springs about 1300 baht. sandy won't negotiate much but sabai might give you a really good rate if you are booking 6 rooms and paying in advance. location is 1 block from beach and near alot

eva sells one way tickets. price is not half of a round trip but it is substantially lower. I think thai air sells one ways from bkk to other places at a reduced fare. Funny thing round trip airfare on thai from BKK-NYC-BKK is substantially less than NYC-BKK-NYC.
