  1. You need to qualify for that extra 15kg with Qatar. From their website "To qualify 4,000 Qmiles or 3 flights on Qatar Airways. To retain 4,000 Qmiles or 4 flights on Qatar Airways " You will of course get more than 4,000 Qmiles on just one trip to LOS from Europe. Bill
  2. I have travelled MAN-DOH-BKK many times and always a tight connection at Doha especially outbound, but my baggage has always made it ok. I shouldn't worry about it at all. I shall be doing it again in 14 days! Bill
  3. A great deal indeed considering it includes the subsequent heart attack!!!
  4. Curious!!! I am also ex MAN on 28 Dec and arrive AUH at 2000 and depart for BKK at 2100 (was 2155). You might want to double check your flight arrival and departure times from Abu Dhabi at www.checkmytrip.com. Bill
  5. So the English are worst at this? How do you substaniate that statement?
  6. Got the same info today. Don't see a problem unless you are changing airline - doubt they will go without you. From what I read about the airport it seems to be a blessing in disguise. Bill
  7. You will find it on the High Street in Bombay!! It is an Indian Bank. It is covered by the FSA in the UK so your money should be safe enough. Go to reviewcentre.com for some opinions on it (not very flattering). Bill
  8. I have a silver card so I do anyway.
  9. Thanks for the heads up. Just booked MAN - BKK for £375.70 with Airline Network. Nearly booked with Etihad a couple of days ago for £405. I think Etihad must now be giving Emirates and Qatar a run for their money hence the keen prices. For Pauly, flown Qatar many times now, generally very good, connections good but as mentioned Doha Airport is the pits - take a leak on the plane before you land a good idea to keep a bottle of soft drink in your hand luggage for while you are there. Refreshment facilities are limited. As also mentioned get the frequent flyer card (Q Miles) - enab
  10. Some very good deals at airline-network.co.uk. Open the page and click on the fare/destination box on the right hand side. Am paying £408 MAN-BKK in Sept/Oct. LGW or LHR is cheaper. These prices for Etihad, Emirates and Qatar. Bill
  11. Good to hear. Flying with them in a couple of months. Finding that Qatar (who I normally use) has gone a tad expensive. How did you find Abu Dhabi Airport? It seems to come in for a bit of flack. Bill
  12. A nice cynical reply MM, but lets be fair. My mother has just had a mastectomy, the treatment she got was first class. My daughter was a premie, two motnths early, just two pounds in weight, same as a bag of sugar...the docs and nurses were marvelous.....she is now a 25 year old with a degree (bit more than her old man!!) We like to knock it but when the stops are are out they aint bad...
  13. You can buy it over the counter, no problem. Bill
  14. Also agree with Nico, and Harry makes a good point reference inflation. A look at Thai interest rates (Bank of Thailand website) shows, broadly, an increase from 1% to 2% in Dec 05 and to 3% in Mar 06. It is now slightly higher and of course you will get a better rate for longer term deposits. Interesting snippet from the Thai Monetary Policy Board meeting of 10 Apr 06(thought only the Brits had one of those!):- "Overall economic stability improved. Headline inflation edged up slightly in March 2006, but its quarterly average was lower than that of the previous quarter. Core infla
  15. Almost certain it doesn't run anymore - unless it has been resurrected! Bill
  16. LOL. Only in Canada, you say! (some of you older Canadians may remember the Red Rose Tea ad from the 80s when I was on exchange with your Navy) Bill
  17. Just booked with Etihad MAN-BKK 28 Dec to 20 Jan with Airnet for £396 which is a great price considering it is over New Year (and my 60th (groan) birthday on 4 Jan. Just wondering what aircraft are/will be used from Manchester then. I read the horror stories on Skytrax about clapped out Iberia 747s! If it turns out to be a Gypsy Moth for this price I will just say that I enjoy the wind in the face and I won't forget my silk scarf! Seriously, an anyone give an update? Tom? As a footnote - read the Qatar vs Etihad threat elsewhere but would still appreciate any update. Might add tha
  18. As long as it doesn't spread to Manchester on Wednesday I don't really care Hey Stan, you got a confirmed flight yet, mate? Bill
  19. Growler, Try this http://www2.airportthai.co.th/html/b-sche-...?type_f=IA&qr=D be sure to hit the refresh button (or F5) once you have the page. Been watching myself and not noticed any delays to Eva although Qaint Ass seems to be getting hit. Bill (flying from MAN by Emirates next week so watching myself!!)
  20. That just means you are deaf!!
  21. Just did a google for Sandalay Resort and every site is in Russian!! Might tell a tale or three!!
  22. Lufthansa is reliable - that is the best that can be said about it. BA not my favourite either, but preferable to LH any day.
