  1. Ibber, I like to stay at the omni hotel on 52nd st. I think it's called omni berkshire. Small rooms like all NY hotels but very comfortable. The location is great as you can walk to 5th Avenue where all the shopping is and very close to Central Park a NY landmark. I would suggest going to a website called biddingfortravel.com It is a guide for priceline and if you go to the site you can get an idea by clicking city list Then you go to priceline and make your bid. If it's too involved and the money is not that big of a deal just find something online. The Omni is very nice, has a conci
  2. I am booked on Thai Air JFK-BKK nonstop leaving on Nov.1 I got the executive economy(only available thru consolidator) for 1300 RT. I thought it was strange that you couldn't book exec econ thru the airlines direct. First time going this way...I will report back Eric
  3. Ten, I think the extra 400 is well worth it. The flight I am taking is non-stop and i have some bags to check, so I was a bit more comfortable.!7 hours is a very, very long flight, so comfort is a must for me. The exec econ on Thai Air's new planes looks very good. Eric
  4. If you want a guarantee......buy a toaster......I am in the same boat as you although I don't have the 1200 in pension money coming my way. I have decided to move over at 52. I can't see the sense in working another 5-10 yrs. as I will be in the same boat at that time, just older. I also want to enjoy my life while I am still young and immature. Eric
  5. Fast.......check out the jomtienbeachresidence.com it is 50 yds from the beach in Jomtien and the prices are right in your range. The developer is the same guy who owns the Residence Garden and a couple of other places. He does a good job and understands how to run a business. Eric
  6. Yes......it is well worth it. The seats are much larger and the cabin is not as jammed packed as it is in economy. Typically, it is a business class type seat with coach food. You can go to the Thai Air website and find "our planes" and get a seatmap and all the info on different type of seats and cabin service.Thai Air does not book exec. economy on their website, you must use a wholesaler/consolidator like Econo Travel. Eric
  7. just got 1335 from JFK- BKK executive economy from Econo Travel.....also recommended from the Thai Air reservation desk. Eric
  8. Jambo, When did your interests in an airline include any criteria besides the aesthetic beauty of the flight attendants that were serving you during your flight. Eric
  9. Just had the same thing happen to me on EVA. I was supposed to return on 16 June and when I was getting ready to leave I looked at eticket and it said 19 june. Well, I guess worse things could happen than an extra few days in heaven. My boss did not think so!! Eric
  10. I am about to book on the non-stop JFK-BKK and am going to book the executive economy class. I have flown the EVA evergreen dlx and was wondering how the Thai Air exec econ matches up. I believe the Thai Air planes are new airbus, but I am not sure. Thanks Eric
  11. A++ hotel......great rooms, staff, food, pool .....by far the best value in town. The location is also great. Jambo....when you return to the RG for your next trip, you should be able to get the donkey in the lift easily after your many hard months of diet and excersize!! Eric
  12. I will be relocating to So. Florida soon and was wondering what is the best way to BKK. I was thinking about flying to New York and taking the non-stop in Thai Air. All advice is welcome Thanks Eric

  14. Torreova, I am not sure I understand. I am planning on moving over in the next few months with plans on returning to the US once a yr. What is the flexibility aspect of the post. Thanks, Eric
  15. I have flown on AA many times and have always had a good trip. I fly LAX-Narita-BKK..the layovers are short and the AA lounge in Narita is very nice and has a great shower/bathroom facility. I usually shower/shave and change clothes and arrive in BKK refreshed. I do the same as others.....check in hotel .....shower again and head to Nana. No problem finding something fast to ease the long flight. Up and off to Pattaya around noon next day.
  16. Frankie, I just got insured w/Bupa in pattatya. I am 52 yrs. old and got the platinum plan with 2 million coverage. It was 37000 bht a yr. PM me if you want my agent..great guy who speaks perfect english. Eric
  17. Pete, your writing style is terrific. You really hit the nail on the head regarding making tons of money and where it takes you. I have been fortunate in that dep't here in the US and have had the nice homes,porsches.etc....I have come to the realization that my quality of life is WAY more important than all the materialistic possessions. Therefore, I am making my way to a full time residency in Pataya at 52 and will make it work for me. Eric
  18. Just find a place called walking street. Once there, you will find more friends than you can handle.Don't worry about anything else.....just go and have fun!!
  19. Sunny, try out the biddingfortravel.com site. If you click around you can get a good feel for what is going on in the travel auction biz. I find it is best for hotels. All in all it is interesting for people who travel extensively. Hoe this helps. Eric
  20. Go to biddingfortravel.com.........it is a cheat sheet for priceline bidders. You go to hotels and look at the city list at top of the page to see what hotels you are bidding on. You can see what other people have bid and if those bids were accepted or rejected.
  21. My vote is also for Residence Garden....big suites, nice pool, good food, golfers are there and staff is very friendly. Eric
  22. I am going to buy a laptop soon and am not sure if I will buy ab Apple or something else. The external HD I am looking at have both firewire and USB 2.0. My friend who is sharing his music w/me has a MAC so he told me I needed firewire to transfer his stuff. Can you repair MAC in Pattaya if necessary. Eric
  23. I was thinking about purchasing an external hardrive, the portable type, to load about 60gb of music and use it for photos as well. I am not very computer savvy, and was wondering if anybody has used these. My friend has a ton of music in his computer and I was looking to take it, put it into the hardrive so I would have this music library forever. I want to fill up my 40gb ipod and also load my computer so I have a music source. Then just hook up speakers to the computer and that would be my stereo. Thanks for the help. Eric
  24. Hammer, I am booked on evergreen dlx for may 31. It is a very good way to get there. My flight from LAX was 1022 USD all in.It is better than coach and worth the extra baht. Eric
  25. Vegas Guy, you will find action almost everywhere you go. I like being just outside the action and being able to jump into it on a moments notice. I liked the residence garden and am going back for a 2nd trip in 2 weeks, but I haven't stayed at the other hotels that board members here like. No matter what, you will have a great time. Eric
