Sabai Lodge vs Residence Gardens
BigDUSA replied to ajweiss1's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I've stayed at the Sabai Lodge and it's a good hotel. Great location on soi 2. Easy access to baht bus on Beach Rd. Comming back is no hassle as you catch a bus on 2nd rd get off at soi 2 and walk down. Big C shopping center is on the other side of 2nd rd. -
Many questions are asked about which airline is better. I've flown all over the world on alot of different airlines. Back in the cheap seats they are all the same. Some may offer seatback video. United offers 5" of extra leg room in ecomony plus and that's about it as far as differences go. Eva deluxe is different but you pay more money. If you are only comming to LOS once or twice and you don't travel that often by air then try priceline.com for cheaper fares. If you plan on comming to LOS on a more frequent basis then fly one airline and join their program. I fly with United they are part of the Star Alliance group. I get frequent flyer miles on any member airline and I'm a premier executive that means I get the extra legroom and I get double miles when I fly with United. I pay for two trips and the third one is FREE. I've flown to LOS four times free. My daughter has flown twice free. The only thing I pay for is the tax. I have flown on other airlines to Los. One time Cathay Pacific had a CRAZY fare of $156.USD r/t from JFK to BKK. Northwest had a fare of $330 from Philly to S'pore. If I get a really cheap fare I will fly someone else.

stevens365, I disagree. There are BG that will steal from you. My favorite BG, Pokky that I've known for 2 years told me about a girl who has a face like a angel that will rip you off. She will find out when you leave and on your last night she will clean you OUT. She will pay her barfine for a few days or a week and then come back to work when the coast is clear. I was told that she has made off with 25k and another 35k. One guy stayed another day or two and came by with the police. Mamasan said sure she works here but she paid barfine and not here. Guy goes home, police drop it. When I was in Pattaya in May she still worked at the bar. There are BG like her all over Pattaya. Some will only take a few hundred. Who counts there money when they come back from a night of drinking? I know I don't A little paranoid, ya but at least I get to keep all my money. ;D

LeoTex, Your right about me have a thing for URAI the massage girl. She's the reason I'm staying at the flipper for a few days. Emil, I'm staying at the Queen Victoria Inn, soi 6 for the rest of my time in Pattaya. I do love fish & chips. I'm paying 12.5K per month and I like the in room safe. 11 days untill I leave for my favorite massage girl in Pattaya. ;D ;D ;D -
Flipper Lodge construction question

Can anyone here translate bert's response? -
Does anyone know if the Flipper Lodge is under going remodeling at this time? I'm due to check in 7 October.

I'm looking for hotels that have in room safe? Here are a few in Pattaya and Bangkok. Pattaya Queen Victoria Inn Mamaison Hotel Bangkok Majestic Suites Manhatten Hotel Sheraton Royal Orchid If available I prefer to stay at a hotel with this feature as it puts to rest the issue of a BG stealing your wallet, passport, camera etc.

PATFAN, Find the lowest price on Expedia or Travelocity and then go to Priceline and start bidding 40% off and go up slowly. Check the Asian airlines website for specials. You need to get a move on as far as your airline and hotel in Pattaya. 14 days till I'm reloaaded into the Thai illusion for 7 weeks. ;D ;D ;D

I just checked from EWR you leave late at night and arrive S'pore arond 6 AM and arrive BKK around 10 AM. Only 19 hours travel. Takes me 27 hours from Philly going to NRT then BKK.
-
I got email from SQ, they have decent prices from the USA to BKK.

TabMule, What is the walk of shame?
-
SoCalGuy, The hill is easy. RG is about a 15-20 minute walk to Walking Street. Easy to get a ride back and forth. I've never stayed at the RG but I've been by it many times. 21 days ;D ;D ;D
-
Themook, I will see Alex in 3 weeks and I'll let him know that a couple of guys are not happy with his service. Only way a business can improve if it gets feedback and acts on it. Sorry that Your experience didn't live up to my reccomendation. 22 days untill I'm reloaded into the Thai illusion. I think I'll take the blue pill.

good Hotel in the middle of the action
BigDUSA replied to boubouzin's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
BigMike, I said if there is no traffic about 2 minutes maybe a little less. Hey I'm a fair minded guy about 3 minutes with no traffic. ;D No matter if it's 2 minutes, 4 or 5 minutes by bus it's still close. -
If I had only three days, I would stay in BKK and forget Pattaya. Your wasting your short time traveling back and forth. More pussy in BKK then you or I can handle. BKK is alot of fun. Check out www.bkktonight.com for accurate up to date info. When you come back then go to Pattaya for the six days. I would suggust the www.majesticsuites.com hotel in BKK. Guest friendly with in room safe, clean and your in the middle of everthing about 1k per night. Nana is right around the corner. Beergarden on soi 7 is across the street. Lots of freelancers that are good to go for 500 s/t and 1000 l/t with no barfine. Guilvers is on soi 5 another place with a/c, excellent pool tables and lots of freelancers. Soi Cowboy is 15 minute walk from your hotel. Annie's massage is down the street from Nana Hotel. Follow my suggustions and you will have a great time. Three things I don't like about BKK, traffic, air pollution and it cost about 20-25% more then Pattaya.

I'm going to answer a question you didn't ask. This applies to American dads and quite possibly with other countries. If you have a child with a Thai girl and your name is on the Thai birth certificate do the kid a big favor and have his birth registered with the US Embassy. They will issue a US birth certificate and passport, he will be a US citizen. I know for a fact the above is true as I'm helping a women from Phuket whose American husband died get social security bennies for her kid. I've seen the birth certificate and US passport issused by the embassy.

I've flown on Cathay on one r/t and for the $156USD. I paid from JFK to BKK it's at the top of my all time cheapest flight. ;D I've flown on alot of different airlines and I don't see much difference back in the cheap seats. United offers 5" more legroom in premier ecomeny. 29 days untill my ass is in the cheap seat on my way back to LOS for 7 weeks. ;D ;D ;D

good Hotel in the middle of the action
BigDUSA replied to boubouzin's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
One nice thing about Pattaya the night life is in a compact area. Taking a baht bus from the Flipper Lodge to Pattayaland I & II is about 2 minute ride a little less if there is no traffic. Flipper has free maps, get one. Soi 8 where the Flipper is located has more night life then you can handle. Check out the Alamo Bar, soi 8 friendly people. Gary the owner is around from 5 PM. -
Torrenova makes a good point. I usally know about 3 or 4 months in advance when I'm comming back to LOS. As soon as I book my ticket, I book my room. usally around 1 month before I leave I will book with Alex and 2 days before I leave I will email him and the hotel to remind them I'm comming. I do the same whenever and where I travel as a former boy scout, I took to heart, be prepared. This worked well when I found myself on the wrong end of a rifle in Vietnam and in my business career. On the trip back to the airport, I leave enough time to cover any problems that may come up. So far this has worked well
-
I've flown on a fair number of international airlines. Generally speaking back in the cheap seats the service is the same. I try and fly United as they have more legroom about 5 inches more in what they call premier economy IMHO SQ has the best looking aircrew.

Griffo, No problem on my end. Just curious; why the slam? 32 days untill I'm reloaded into the Thai Matrix. ;D
