I used Alex service on 7 January. He sent his other driver who was waiting for me at the airport. Nice guy, clean newish honda speaks ok english. FWIW, my buddy who had used Alex on two previous trips and was happy with the service decieded to get a taxi at the airport. He spent 2 hours trying to find his hotel. I think he will use Alex next time. ;D

Not trying to rain on anyones parade. The prices are ok from Philly if I get frequent fleyer miles. If not I can fly United for $30 more with milesw.

With United I fly 50K per year and I get double miles. I pay for 2 and the third one is free. This trip I flew free and cheap charley likes the word free. I'm in Pattaya now for 2 months and I'm having a great time. I got my clock cleaned on soi six last night. ;D

Yensabai condo has a shower big enough for SF Dude and all his girls. ;D I've stayed at the condo a couple of times good place.

Get a free map from your hotel. Ask for a business card from your hotel that has the address in Thai. Make sure the driver turns the meter on.

Generally speaking airlines will only give free upgrades to their frequent flyer that have reached premier or elite status when cheap seats are all filled and they have extra passangers. 16 days untill my butt is fillin one of those cheap seats.....

Roland makes a good point. I'm going to buy a cheap digital camera and take the BG picture when she registers. The next day erase all the pictures. Another way is to mount a security camera. Wil this stop the hard core pro. I don't think so but it will stop the casual thief.

sensei, As a guy who teaches personal security why would you want to put temptation in front of a stranger? When she leaves her ID she knows that the police can tag her. The hotel runs security checks not for you but to save them the hassle of dealing with the police and with guys who want to take care of it themselfes. I'm part owner of a new hotel opening soon in Pattaya. Hotel policy will be that all girls ID will be registered with security and when she leaves, security will call the room to make sure everything is OK. When the girl shows up without the registered guest in tow she doesn't go to the room untill we get the OK. Girls will not be allowed to roam around the hotel by themselves. My job is to provide a reasonabley safe and secure location for the average guy to have fun. I realize you can look after yourself but I have to look out for everyone else. Lets get together for a beer when your in Pattaya. I'll tell you about my personal security lapse that damm near got my ass kicked by a baht bus driver...

Question came up the other day and my sister in law wanted to know how I get quality hotel rooms cheap. When I figure out what budget I have to spend and if my 15 y/o daughter is comming with me. I find at least 6 or 10 hotels that I'm interested in and I find out the manager email address. I tell him I'm comming for two weeks and that I've already purchased my ticket and that I'm emailing other hotels in his quality range. The first hotel that gets back to me gets my business. I'm also willing to prepay for my stay, but I don't tell them unless I need to seal the deal. If a hotel has a discounted rate of $100USD. I will offer $60 including all taxes and service. Many times the manager will come back at $75. This is still 25% off their most discounted rate. This works well at cheaper hotels. I start my hunt about two weeks before I leave. I also look for hotels that are under going construction. They have even better discounts.

Ya know this is the kind of question the airlines just might be able to answer better..... Naw don't worry about reconfiming. Ya want to stay another week or so. No problem. Just show up at the airport when your ready to go.
