  1. I realize this is not close to Walking Street but it's close by baht bus. Soi 1 there is apartment house on the right side of the road coming from 2nd Rd close to Mark land. Studio goes for 6K++. Good building and great Thai management (oxymoron) but in this case true.
  2. For some strange reason, when I look at her, I think high maintenance honey.
  3. www.udonmap.com another good website.
  4. I try and fly one airline as much as possible. With United I get double miles and basically I pay for two trips and the third one is free. I'm a Premier Executive with UA frequent flyer program and I have been upgraded a few times for free on my Asian trips. On international trips I get to use the Red Carpet Club for free. Plus I always get exit row seats. I figure you know all this but I'm writing this for the inexperienced flyer. I've never flown KAL but I've flown with many other airlines and I find back in the cheap seats they all are pretty much the same.
  5. magnus, I tried direct dial from the US and this doesn't seem to be correct number. I don't understand /8.
  6. There website is under construction. I need to book and I need the phone number. Thanks, BigDUSA
  7. www.majesticsuites.com is in the middle of everything around the corner from Nana Hotel. BG friendly, in room safe and 1200 per night. Rooms are clean with ac, tv, fridge. Check out www.bkktonite.com for up to dte info on BKK.
  8. Think of the main nite life area of Pattaya as a rectangle maybe 2 or 3 miles long and 2 long blocks wide. Bhat bus service cost 10 bhat and with no traffic you can go around the rectangle in less then 30 minutes. Most of the hotels you would be interested in are in this rectangle. One of the favorite hotels of forum members the Residence Garden is outside the rectangle but only a few minutes away. I would book 1 or 2 nites at the www.pattaya-pub-hotel.com www.flippergroup.com or www.skytoppattaya.com and scope out what your looking for. Less then 5 minutes by baht bus from Walking Street with no traffic. I would use our somewhat reliable car and driver to get to Pattaya from the airport. Alex knows where the hotels are located. I'm in town from 8 July thru 10 August. PM and we can get togther for a drink.
  9. I've been in Pattaya during two Cobra Gold and the GI's were well behaved. Much better behaved then I was 35 years ago. Down at the level I troll the bar fines and prices stayed the same. Hell if they were any lower they would be paying me.
  10. I gotta agree with ROLAND on this. You can do it but what a hassle. I've taken the bus many times and I wouldn't do it. If your going to do it, I would catch a cab to Mo Chit Sky-Train Station and take the train to Ekkamai as you will cut out all the cross town rush hour traffic. Bus station is located at Ekkamai.
  11. If you get in during the day or early evening after you clear customs go up the escalator to the next floor. That's the departure level. Get in a cab that has just let off passanger. You save 50 baht and there's no waiting. Cabbie thinks you have been to LOS many times and will not take you the long way. Unless the cabbie help me with my bags. I don't tip as LOS is a non tipping country.
  12. You got a good price for December. The price does drop in the middle of January thru May.
  13. wolfe5047, When you book on United website you have to book multi city or they will try and route you thru europe.
  14. Herbie, That's a tough question to answer with out more details. If you need a pool check out www.flippergroup.com If your looking for good budget hotel with AC,TV, in room safe and fridge www.skytoppattaya.com will float your boat. Both hotels are guest friendly and close to the beach in Pattaya. I added the Sabai Inn www.sabainn.com another good hotel. I've stayed at all the hotels I recommend.
  15. The safes that I've used a laptop will not fit. I would lock it up in your luggage as irishman suggusted.
  16. I fly United from Philly and that generally what I pay. In April I found a little cheaper fare with United $605. plus taxes. It had a 3 day advance and I booked it. With gas prices so high, I wouldn't expect any cheap fares.
  17. Bargirl Equipment for sale. Due to recent windfall and subsequent semi-retirement from the trade, the following items are for sale: - 12 inch high silver moon boots - Vinyl jumpsuit with accessory pocket - Mobile phone w/flashing lights and extra-loud ringing tone - Lifetime membership at Daeng's Serm Suay Beauty Shop - Phone list of 384 longstay punters for guaranteed cash on slow nights - Fully furnished 3.6m x 4m room wit squat toilet and wat-bum hose; new seening fan; and 2 mun prepaid rent (by boyfren fum Switterlan) - Woeful "Request for Funds" letters in 63 tragic scenarios and 4 languages - Honda Wave motorbike (now dive Benz) Note: all items for lease with option to buy pending outcome of recent venture (maybe Swittterlan too cole an boyfren not take care me good). http://phuketgazette.net/classifieds/details.asp?
  18. Safer then leaving your wallet out on the table.
  19. BARGIRL FOR SALE. No key money, just take over payments. Great exterior condition. Attitude may need slight adjustment. Will cook if hungry. Will clean for jewellery. Expert in hand phone operation, sofa management and budget mishandling. Genuine reason for sale - owner bankrupt! Call now, this offer won't last. (I have removed the phone number!) 20. sensei, Cheap Charley wants to know how you got a freebie and can you get me one. I like flying SQ but on the cheap Charley fares I fly they don't give frequent flyer's miles. I understand Thai is going to start flying JFK to BKK non stop. I don't know the start date. I'm in Pattaya from 8 July thru 10 August. Let's hook up for a beer.
  21. Floyd, IMHO, in room safe is a must have. Pig and Whistle and Sky-Top both have in room safe.
  22. Generally speaking, yes but there are better ways to get there. Many cab driver don't know there way around Pattaya. Driver fatigue is another problem.
  23. Sounds like the Residence Gardens would float your boat.
  24. Pig and Whistle on Soi 7 has excellent rooms for 650 per night that meets your requirments. Discounts are available. www.pattaya-pub-hotel.com Another good buy www.skytoppattaya.com 450 and up. I've stayed there and would stay again. No lift.
  25. I usually give the guy/girl a 20 and at the beginning of the trip I buy a bottle of Red Bull to help keep him awake. One or two days before I arrive in BKK, I email Alex to remind him I'm arriving and so far I never had a problem. I would strongly recommend that no matter whose service you decide to use. Remind them.
