  1. Travel agent next to Gregg's Kitchen did a good job for me. They issue airline tickets in their office. BTW Gregg's Kitchen prices are way over the top. Try Tropical Bert's across the street for good pub grub at a reasonable price.
  2. Out of Chicago UA has one stop flights to BKK. The Narita flight leaves around noon and about a two hour layover in Narita then on to BKK..
  3. I can book a r/t Philly to Bkk for $943 on UA. February-March departures.
  4. I eat breakfast at Bert's almost every day when I'm in town. Good pub grub. I haven't stayed at Bert's but I've gone through the rooms and they are good value for the Baht. Tropical Bert's has a great location only one block from Beach Rd and butt up against soi 6.
  5. If this doesn't work out, I know of a good value for the Baht guesthouse on 2nd Road near Soi 6 that might fit your needs.
  6. Look forward to seing the freelancer promotion in action. 13 days till wheels UP......................
  7. Gregg's prices are insane and the food is just OK.
  8. Your right. I plan on not making any more comments in this thread.
  9. As a cheap Charley I don't like to overpay but I don't mind paying for good service. I've used this service a few times and so far never a problem. Jan shows up in a newish Toyota pickup with a bucket of cold beer and off we go. She speaks good English and is a EXCELLENT save driver. I drove a truck for 25 years and I do know a safe driver when I ride with one.
  10. QUOTE(BigDUSA @ Jan 12 2009, 01:59 PM) Sky-top no longer asks for all the money up front. I never said that Sky-Top is the best value in Pattaya. What I have said it's good value for the money. No it doesn't have matched teak furniture nor does it have 500 count Egyptian spun cotton sheets but it does offer good value for the money. BigDUSA: I guess you will just keep repeating this until the cows come home; however, with all due respect, the fact is that is isn't a good value for pattaya. It's been extensively documented in this and other threads, including many photos. I'll keep reapeating that Sky-Top is good value because it is. It's the same few guys who complain about Sky-Top. You and CheshireTom have complained about Sky-Top for years and still to this day you've never stopped by and taken a look for yourself. Pics are nice but they can't show you if the AC is cool or the fridge keeps your beer cold nor can it tell you how the staff treats you Let's keep it real it's a $14USD to $25USD a night place to stay. You keep repeating this, but the fact is that we are not talking about dollars and the USA here, we are discussing baht and Thailand. I used Euro's and you pitched a bitch so I figured I'd go with USD and you pitch a bitch. I am pretty sure you would be the first one to disagree with a punter who argued that $100 (3,500 baht) for good looking gogo and BGs represents a good value because you would have to pay $400-$500 for the same girl in the USA Some guys in BKK are paying 3500 for LT including barfine. If 3500 was the going rate in Pattaya, I'd pay it but since the BG in Pattaya are willing to go for a lot less...............................
  11. Sky-top no longer asks for all the money up front. I never said that Sky-Top is the best value in Pattaya. What I have said it's good value for the money. It's clean, in room safe, free wired in room internet, fridge, AC and cable TV and a great location on 2nd Rd one block from Beach Rd and spitting distance from Soi 6. Add in room service once you call a local restaurant and they deliver to your door and what more could one ask for. Guys on this forum have plenty of choices about where to stay. Sky-Top is but one of them and given the repeat business Sky-Top has other guys besides myself feel it fits their needs. It's not a disservice to recommend Sky-Top to BM as you may have noticed not one person including the guys who didn't like Sky-Top have said the maid ripped them off or their laundry was lost/ torn or the staff gave them a hard time. Let's keep it real it's a $14USD to $25USD a night place to stay. No it doesn't have matched teak furniture nor does it have 500 count Egyptian spun cotton sheets but it does offer good value for the money.
  12. I'm the first one to agree that at the 1500 price point Sky-Top wouldn't cut it and I wouldn't recommend it. At it's current price point 850 for the largest room and this room is featured in CheshireToms pics and this is the room I stay in. For me it good value for the price. I'm willing to make some allowances as far as mismatched furniture and thin curtains, etc. I'm there for three weeks not the rest of my life. I have to laugh that guys with very high standards expect a cheap guesthouse to perform like a much more expensive Hilton.
  13. I truly am sorry it didn't meet your expectations and since we stayed there at the same time why didn't you come up and say something to me but you didn't. Now your on the internet crying the blues that it was damn near the most traumatic experience in your life. Your living up to your handle. Get over it. I don't own Sky-Top nor am I partner so I don't offer discounts. What I do offer, it's good value for the money. tommie, Seaside offers a small bed where Sky-Top offers a king size bed. Sky-top has decent linen and why didn't you show the in house laundry with the two washing machines. Your just being a silly nit picker. Lame.
  14. King size bed on the right side of the picture. Seems that tommie felt there was no need to post a photo of this as it might show Sky-Top in a good light. Some guys want to nit pick whatever the owner does. He makes repairs it's not enough. Buys new mattresses for all the rooms it glossed over. No matter what he does CheshireTom and Hub want to put him out of business. Lame.
  15. For the punter travelling to Asia for the first time this is for you. When you get off the plane in BKK the first thing you'll notice is the state of the art ultra modern airport. When you go outside to meet your driver most likely he will be driving a newish car with AC and a decent stereo. You'll head out to a super highway and go to Pattaya. The first thing you'll notice is all the 7-11, McDonalds, ATM all over the place and you'll think man this is a well developed country and for the most part your right. But when you eat off a food cart your in a third world country with dirty water, primitive to non existent food sanitation practices and for the two week vacationer you have to weigh the benefits of eating like a local and probably coming down with a nasty case of food poisoning that will lay you up for two-four days. Is it worth it losing time from your limited vacation? Only you can answer this question. 21 days till wheels UP..........
  16. I don't think I've ever said it's a great place. What I have said it's a good value and it is. 21 days till wheels UP........................
  17. I agree but watch hotel rates climb even higher. At some point and I think it's sooner then later Pattaya will start to price it self out of the market.
  18. Hub, It's pretty much the same size block from soi 6 up to the Royal Garden Shopping center. BTW the block I lived on in Southwest Philadelphia, Greenway Ave and surrounding area is about the same length as 2nd Rd to Beach Rd. I don't disagree with the traffic on 2nd Rd but if one is walking and most of us do walk, we all face the same traffic crossing the road.
  19. Your post fits your handle. You keep going on and on how poor and or shit place Sky-Top is. First of all the tile floor does have a nice shine to it or have you forgotten. Linen is clean and yes it may not be as crisp as the 800 count Egyptian cotton sheets you sleep on but they are soft to the touch. No it's not "well shockingly poor". At it's price point it's good value for the money. JohhnyK, Nice small room for 500 a night. My room at Sky-Top has a king size bed and has room for another bed plus a sitting area with a couch. In room free internet is another plus. True my room cost more but I'm willing to pay the extra because I don't like to live in a shoebox. mulphy, Excellent room for the price and for guys who like your area of town. I recommend they go for it but I prefer to be one block from the beach and around the corner from soi 6.
  20. I've eaten many a pussy and so far never have come down with pussy poisoning where I've had the shit's, upset stomach and throwing up all night.
  21. Some guys on this forum have cast iron stomachs and can eat and drink damn near anything and have no problems. Others and I include myself in this group look at a food cart and my stomach starts to feel queasy. The problem with food cart sanitation is there is none. No refrigeration to keep the meat cold. No hand washing faculties. No way to clean the cutting board, preparation knife and the same dirty rag is used for wiping down the cutting board, prep knife and whatever else needs to be wiped down. The most dangerous meat one can eat off a food cart is chicken. Seafood is another dangerous food to eat. I have four years experience with restaurant sanitation from my time in the US Army. 22 days till wheels UP..................
  22. I'm looking forward to breaking in your new mattress next month when I stay at Sky-Top for three weeks. 22 days till wheels UP............................
  23. It's a condo not a hotel with reception desk. I've stayed there a few times and no one asked me anything. No extra charge for girls. Excellent value for the money.
  24. Yensabai Condo may have what your looking for. wwwpattayarentaroom.com
