  1. A lonely 70-year-old widow decided that it was time to marry again. She put an ad in the local newspaper that read: "Husband wanted! Must be in my age group, must not beat me, must not run around on me and must still be good in bed. All applicants please apply in person." The following day, she heard the doorbell. Much to her dismay, she opened the door to see a gray-haired gentleman sitting in a wheelchair. He had no arms or legs. "You're not really asking me to consider you, are you?" the widow asked: "Just look at you -- you have no legs!" The old gent smiled: "Therefore, I cannot run around on you!" "You don't have any arms either!" she snorted. Again, the old man smiled: "Therefore, I can never beat you!" She raised an eyebrow and asked intently: "Are you still good in bed?" The old man leaned back, beamed a big smile and said: "I rang the doorbell, didn't I?"
  2. Can't see how since she only paid the 93 baht for each one. I think perhaps AIS acquired a bunch of out-of-date mobiles for a very good price, and on the off chance the buyer would become a customer and buy more time after the initial allotment of 400 baht was consumed, they priced the phones at cost or even with a small profit. She is giving one to each of her parents. They will probably use them, maybe not. Gets me off the hook for some possible future request to buy her parents phones.
  3. The missus just bought two mobiles for 93 baht each. Each comes with 400 baht worth of talk time. These mobiles are cheap and basic, but if you're here and want a cheap way to text and call, get down there ASAP. I don't know how long this will last. The package... The mobiles.. The receipts...70 baht and 23 baht...I haven't bothered to get this translated, but this is just to show it's real.
  4. Ah yes, I don't believe I mentioned that I have had to do a 90 day report AND an extension of visa (on different days) in the past few months since this form was the talk of the town, and I have yet to see it or been presented with it. I can only hope it was a temporary aberration in Immigration.
  5. It's pouring right now! Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  6. From what I could see (some of the time it rained while I was sleeping), the storms were frequent for a few weeks in October, but none were so strong that they caused the kind of flooding we've seen in prior years. The rains seemed to rotate around the clock during this period...mornings for several days, then afternoons, then evenings...usually beginning just as I was about to go somewhere!
  7. I was going to groan about how it's such an old saw, but this one incorporates new, timely material. Aside from putting back the useless "u", it's not a bad idea
  8. The number of crawler IPs vs the number of active users has always been much higher. I don't see anything new about the stats now. The crawlers are generally well-behaved in that they do their crawls in a leisurely fashion.
  9. I've had it once since the server move, so it is definitely reduced from what I can see. I've also seen it on another site...don't recall which one.
  10. That's a shame!
  11. Not sure about the UK embassy, but the US embassy just asks that you swear to whatever amount you claim you receive...and they charge you for the privilege.

One of my top 10 favorite movies (credit for the soundtrack) Daniel Day Lewis
  13. That and Back to the Future were uncannily prophetic.
  14. The problem with FB is that it is very time sensitive...what's funny today will be scrolled into the basement tomorrow and hard to find. If I see any...yeah, will do.
  15. Some very humorous memes have been posted on Facebook today.
  16. You can say that again!
  17. Sorry, I misread your first post on this topic and got going with Android Pay :-( I haven't checked on Apple Pay availability in Thailand.
  18. Thailand isn't that advanced, I fear. Can you use Android Pay in Ukraine? Wikipedia claims I suspect it will be a long time before Thailand is included.

  20. I just noticed that they are rolling out Samsung Pay here in Thailand, but it is currently limited to credit card (not debit as I read it) holders from SCB, Citi, and KTC (what's that?). https://th.campaign.samsung.com/samsungpay/en/register.php
  21. It was perfectly understandable considering how their fee was grandfathered in on the same terms as Peter had negotiated. I felt bad about how much they were paying and cut their rate in half a couple of years before they pulled the plug. They were good people and helped tremendously with the cost of the forum...in fact, they were paying all the bills for a time.
  22. atlas2 - yes, I have to give a lot of credit to my missus for her assistance and support during this and other episodes in the past. CalEden - as to waiting too long, yes, you are absolutely right. I did wait too long...or too little. Too long if it was heart/circulation related, too little to find out that it was going to resolve itself within a few days. As of today, 3 days since onset, my breathing is nearly normal and the pain is considerably reduced. My treatment last night consisted of 2 tramadol over 8 hours, 1 Lyrica (given to me by the doc who thought it was herpes zoster), 2 Beer Laos and one shot of Grey Goose. I slept like a baby and woke up feeling much better. I won't be taking anymore of the Lyrica, since looking it up on the internet. It's scary stuff that is used for chronic pain and becomes very dangerous to quit without tapering off over a period of time. I expect to be fully recovered shortly. FYI, here is the bill for the visit...lots of "Special" items on it that are not explained. The best deal on that bill is the "Nursing and Midwifery Charge". At only 2700 baht, they were great, as usual.
