If you don't have the funds for the time required, there's at least one "middleman" to get an approval.. The only way I see doing it without a "middleman" is to have the funds and do it legally. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Grabbed from Facebook...had to laugh. Two Irish builders (Patrick and Seamus) are seated either side of a table in a pub when a well-dressed man enters, orders a beer and sits on a stool at the bar. The two builders start to speculate about the occupation of the suit Pat: - I reckon he's an accountant. Seamus: - No way - he's a stockbroker. Pat: - He ain't no stockbroker! A stockbroker wouldn't come in here! The argument repeats itself for some time until the volume of beer gets the better of Pat and he makes for the toilet. On entering the toilet he sees that the suit is standing at a urinal. Curiosity and the several beers get the better of him. Pat: - 'Scuse me.... no offence meant, but me and me mate were wondering what you do for a living? Suit: - No offence taken! I'm a Logical Scientist by profession Pat: - Oh? What's that then? Suit: - I'll try to explain by example ...... Do you have a goldfish at home? Pat: - Er ... mmm .......... well yeah, I do as it happens! Suit: - Well, it's logical that you keep it either in a bowl or in a pond. Which is it? Pat: - It's in a pond! Suit: - Well it's reasonable to suppose that you have a large garden then? Pat: - As it happens, yes I have got a big garden. Suit: - Well then it's logical to assume that, in this town, if you have a large garden then you have a large house? Pat: - As it happens I've got a five bedroom house ......... built it myself! Suit: - Well given that you've built a five bedroom house it's logical to assume that you haven't built it just for yourself and that you are quite probably married? And with a family? Pat: - Yes I am married, I live with my wife and four children. Suit: - Well then it is logical to assume that you are sexually active with your wife on a regular basis? Pat: - Yep! Five times a week! Suit: - Well then it is logical to suggest that you don't masturbate very often? Pat: - Do what? Not me, mate! Suit: - Well there you are! That's logical science at work! Pat: - How's that then? Suit: - Well from finding out that you had a goldfish, I've told you about your sex life! Pat: - I see! That's pretty impressive.. Thanks mate! Both leave the toilet and Pat returns to his mate. Seamus: - I see the suit was in there.. Did you ask him what he does? Pat: - Yep! He's a logical scientist! Seamus: - What's that then? Pat: - I'll try and explain. Do you have a goldfish? Seamus: - Nope Pat: - Well then, you're a wanker...

As jacko said, it needs to be in the bank for at least 60 or 90 days, neither of which would be exactly "short term". Reportedly there are some dodgy outfits that will somehow create a record of funds in the account for the required period (perhaps through forgery or a crooked bank or immigration employee), but they charge tens of thousands of baht for this service that if you do it legally costs 1900 baht.
-
The rate can change several times a day at the banks, and all the displays are from a central location. It's not a scam...well, Kasikorn gives generally crappy rates, but that's just their greed, but they aren't scamming as you describe.

I extended my 1 year visa this month and also found it to be very efficient and quick. No sign of the reputed "social media" questionnaire.

I'll give them a try...thanks. -
I love Jim's burgers and beers. I've eaten there 3 times, schedule permitting, and have always been satisfied. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Plan to approve 10 year visas for over 50s - read fine print
MM replied to MM's topic in Idle Chit Chat
The article quoted does say but that could just be a journalistic glitch. Many would hope so. I think I'd prefer sticking with the 1 year extension. As atlas2 once said (something like) he doesn't buy green bananas at his age. -

It's not that easy. I have to be self-insured and any insurance at my age would be prohibitively expensive or simply not available. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk -

I think you're referring to one of those Elite visas which cost an arm and a leg to get all those discounts. This visa, as described, allows you to keep your money, but you just can't use it (if you go with the bank account approach). There's nothing in the above description that says you get any privileges beyond not having to renew until the 5th year...no limos from the airport, free or discounted green fees, special access to immigration lines, etc, that come with the Elite visa. -
http://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/business/2016/11/22/govt-approves-10-year-visas-foreigners-50/ I'm not sure how they can call it a 10 year visa when it's described as two 5 year visas. Anyway, if you have the income or money in the bank, plus health insurance, this would save you a bit of hassle, but I can't see it being that much more convenient. My last yearly extension was done in a morning session, and I didn't have to tie up 3M baht for a year. What do you guys think?

Well, that was fast. They are all gone! -
Yeah, the Focus is a nice ride. The new one looks even better, but at 1M+, I'll suffer with the old clunker. BTW, do you have a phone number for this dealer (or the lady with the short skirt)?

Internet 90 day reporting...broken for all or just me?
MM replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Aside from the site being completely down or asking you to come in, the problem I had the time before last was that I got the approval, but couldn't print the damned receipt that goes in the passport. It was some problem with the certificate that kept stopping me from printing. Pretty much every time I have managed to use the internet 90 day reporting, it takes longer than a trip to Immigration. -

Today she's off to buy 3 more! -
That's very promising. I too am fed up with the Ford dealership on Sukhimvit down by Makro. I've had to wait weeks to get a service appointment. I just did a "locate a dealer" on the Ford Thailand site and it doesn't seem to be there (yet). The nearest one north of Pattaya is in Sri Racha.
