I've gone thru all the McNab and Leather books (up to last year, at least). Really, if you like them, and don't mind having a central character from the USA, as opposed to the UK in the other two, get the Scot Harvath series written by Brad Thor (that name's gotta be a pseudonym...please). Good stuff a la Clancy. After Siam Sam's classics, no one will accuse me of being a high-brow.

Just did a transfer through Bangkok Bank and only got 34.38 for my fantasy USD funds, whereas real USD notes would have gotten 34.52 THB/USD. I have been under the impression that the TT rate was better than anything you could get on the street by a small amount. Under that assumption, I came back to Thailand without any USD cash because I thought I'd get more via transfer.

Yes, it did...I was also confused by that when I went looking for it closer to Beach Road and it had gone. It used to be across from the Bamboo club, but now that is a REMAX and a WAWEE COFFEE from Google Street view. Here is the current location of Fra Pattaya. Back in 2008, when the pattayaphotoguide.com site was taking pictures, it shows the old location of Fra Pattaya. Nice to know you aren't going crazy, eh?

An amazing special at Retox Game On (hate that name, BTW)

As far as I know, Bazle, it was a "one-of" special..perhaps the meat really did fall off a truck. -

It takes all kinds.. The central point of this post was the surprising quality of the steak and we get the chip counters chiming in. It's a crazy world. -

I left most of the chips and took a bit of steak home. However the steak looked, it was deceptively tender and juicy. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk -
International Driving Permits for expats who travel outside of Thailand
MM replied to MM's topic in Expat Issues
Seems doable....http://www.pattayacityexpatsclub.com/expats/docs/Intl%20driving%20permit%20issued%20in%20Thailand.pdf It looks like the nearest place to get one is the Chonburi city Land Transport Office, not the one out on 36. -
I've been in Thailand long enough that my USA driving license expired years ago. I have a valid Thai license for both car and motorbike. When I visit the USA or any other country outside of Thailand, it would be good to have an IDP for my Thai license. Has anyone here ever tried to get one in Thailand? Let me reiterate, this is not from my HOME country, but is from Thailand where I have a valid license.

I've generally given up on ordering beef steaks in Pattaya restaurants because I've been consistently disappointed with the quality of the steaks. They have universally been tough, evidenced by having to saw back and forth with a steak knife to cut off a bite, endless minutes chewing tough meat. These steaks have been touted to be Australian, grass fed, aged xxx days, blah blah, but are below the quality of the steaks I buy at my favorite butcher and cook for myself at home. I won't name the places where these disappointing steaks have been served, but I will say that the prices have been betw

I use my Thai license in the USA, but was advised that if I were stopped or in an accident, the police might have some issues with it. I don't know what the insurance situation would be. Has anyone any idea if it is possible for an expat to get an IDP in Thailand for their Thai license to be used in other countries?

Good point. Spice should ask for a membership so he can see the details...I guess we can let this carry on for a bit though, but based on your observation, by rights it should be moved.
