And now, a day later, it seems to be working most of the time. It's dropped the link once that I know of, but only briefly. Something is not right with 3BB. It just appears unreliable of late.

I've been having problems with my 3BB connection sporadically for a couple of weeks. One day it is solid, then for several hours, it starts dropping the connection for 2-5 minutes. Then it connects again, and 10 minutes later, it drops. Tonight, it's pretty much down solid. I'm not sure if it's a local South Pattaya issue, a central office issue, or a local issue to my connection. 3BB call center is not responding (wait for next available support person), so either they are understaffed or they are really busy. So, anyone have any relevant 3BB reports? What's going on with your area?

Yes, this is just the way they do it in Miami and Nice...close the major access to the central night life area and block with it a multitude of vendors selling the same items repeated every 100m. There must be a lot of money being handed over to someone for those vendor spots...they aren't free, and somebody is making a quick baht or two.

I've been thinking 300b for a taxi from Swampy BKK, much less Don Muang, was a rather low price. I'd guess 500-700 to DM from Swampy, but of course, it depends on one's negotiating skills From what I gather, Mr. T has an all-inclusive price of 1200b to go from Pattaya to Don Muang. One pickup, one dropoff, no transfers

That is really great news. I hope it happens soon. I've only got one decent Star Alliance choice and departure/arrival/travel time (UAL) to get back to the USA West Coast. It would be great to have 2.

Many businesses are not set up for online banking. Those that are, sometimes quietly change their billing name through mergers and spinoffs and you find you've been paying the wrong business for 3 months when the new entity threatens to cut off your service. After that, it might take weeks, and many hours of your time, to settle things so you (1) keep your service and (2) get credit for the payments you have made. Electronic payments here in Thailand are not quite up to western standards. Some are, but if even one isn't, you'll find yourself at a 7-11 or merchant shop paying your bill(s).
