Spankys Bar soi Diamond
MM replied to spankys bar soi diamond's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
So do I! Re those other places pricing...I'm not generally looking carefully at the prices, though I know when I've been gut punched on LD costs, but I am pretty sure the Sea is 120 for LDs. Most of my bins are just multiples of 120b...easy to figure. As for Happy group, I thought they'd moved to 120 or 125 LD pricing...need to look again. Also, these prices change sometimes too...as the bar seeks its balance between cost and volume of sales. Still, 115 is a low average gogo price (as opposed to 125/135 high average). Showcase is now 145, and that's in my red zone, do not buy, range now. I'm not sure about Whats Up, Iron, Airport and Moon, since I tend not to go to them. I've not had the "pleasure" of Star, Nuis, Playgirl, for years. I should put them on my visit list for at least a drink.- 76 replies

I llok for furnished apartments in Pattaya
MM replied to TheHunter's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
So, in other words, you told someone on the internet that there were furnished apartments with kitchens on Soi 6 and/or 8, but you have no way of identifying them or helping them beyond saying they exist? Can you even say whether they are on both soi 6 and 8, or only one or the other? And, since you know of them, are they on the beach end or the 2nd road end or in the middle...forget the names or websites...even a general location would help to support this claim. -
I think the police have all gone to bed by the time JP starts rocking. I know I have!

I've been going home at 4am or so, so haven't seen the start up time for JP bar lately, but I heard from a mutual friend that he had picked up a girl in Marine in the wee hours, finished with her, and she was off to JP Bar at 8:30am a couple of days ago.

The two places with the most agency girls that I have been going to lately, Sapphire and Bada Bing, seem to have a badge system that at least tells you which are the high bar fine girls. Whether they go with customers, is another issue altogether. I've not yet been turned down, because I haven't asked once I know their barfine is 1000+! On the other hand, they can be fun to sit with and buy drinks for. Both venues seem to have the same prices for LDs, whether coyote or regular staff, which is good. Some places are adding a surcharge for buying an agency coyote a drink, and that is something I find unacceptable. BTW, Bada Bing, last time I bought a LD there has 115b lady drinks, quite reasonable. In fact, I can't think of another gogo on WS that has such inexpensive LDs.- 76 replies

Yes, that might be fine for you, but there are many people who come out later and expect to stay out till nearly sunrise in the clubs and discos. They are the ones primarily affected by the "early" closings (or in the case of Insomnia, 30 day closures). Not everything is about you, Peter.

No doubt about that. Higher commissions would tend to lead to more aggressive LD pressure. But, it would also tend to increase the desirability of the venue as a workplace, so the owner would have a larger pool of better looking girls to choose from. Whether they would then be inclined to go with customers would be another issue altogether. But, we were talking (STARGAZER and my reply) about getting better talent in the bars...that's usually based on looks for the most part...at least for the establishments that rely heavily on tourist visitors. Drink commissions are just one of the job benefits that can attract good talent. High salaries (as advertised, not necessarily as delivered) are another. I've yet to encounter a gogo that pays out more than 50b per LD in commission, but then I haven't done in depth universal research. If anyone knows of such a place, I'd be interested in hearing about it. At FLB, for example (and Cherry Bar that I know of), we have multiple commission rates depending on the drink. The girls know which drinks have the highest commissions, and they tend to order those. Those drinks with the highest commission also are the lower priced drinks to the customer, or the easiest to prepare, so the customer can buy more drinks, the girl can make more money. They can order an expensive beer or cocktail, but their commission is lower on those drinks, since they cost more to the customer. Credit to Hammer for coming up with the idea.- 76 replies

Thanks, jacko. You obviously put some effort into that. Unfortunately, not one of those stories had to do with late night closures, which is the main enforcement that is affecting the town. But, I take your point. They do, thankfully, tend to pull this stuff outside of high season. There was a crackdown for 3am closing last May though... http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/topic/54830-police-closed-bars-on-ws-at-3am/page__view__findpost__p__891011

Vic, I see Joe's point. Whether it be a republican candidates or sports figures, you seem to have a special animosity for anyone espousing Jesus loving religious views. I trend to agree, but don't make it a single issue failing, subject to visceral hatred a you seem to do.

Stargazer, if any bar were giving the staff more than the industry standard 50 baht commission on ladydrinks, I'd agree with you that it would help to secure better talent. I've no information that indicates the higher LD prices do more than increase the bar's margins and nothing to do with rewarding staff more ( at the customer's expense).- 76 replies

TBH, i'm not sure if there's a seasonal, predictable pattern, but it's clear that it happens from time to time, likely based on political activities at a higher level than we are aware of...power struggles, jockeying for a cut of the graft, even legitimate attempts to bring the nightlife into line with existing law...I can't say I know why or when these crackdowns occur. That's for the statisticians and political wonks to say. I just look at them as seasonal disruptions that happen Willy Nilley, same as weather variations. If you can go back and document these activities related to time of year, i'm all ears.

The police have been enforcing closing times, a bit sporadically, but effectively over the last 5 days or so. Insomnia disco has a 30 day closure hanging over it, but how that will turn out after the negotiations remains to be seen. Ibar, complicit in Insomnia's continuing to do business after the police gave the "all close" warning, was shut tonight until about 1:30am...but had a 2 day closure hanging over their heads which was negotiated away. Tonight, most of the late night gogos were closed by 3am. I won't name them, but anyone in town knows who they are. Ibar had to close about 4am after opening at 1am or 1:30am, so it wasn't a big night for them. There are lots of disco punters and girls on the streets wondering "where do we go, where do we go?" because the other late night venues were closed as well (Marine, Lucifers). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ISz6BhrDXk Honestly, tonight looked like a scene from the "Walking Dead" series. The word is that the Chonburi regional police (as opposed to Pattaya police) have been brought in to lean hard on Pattaya late night businesses. Since no one has thought to pay them, they have free rein to do as they will. This too shall pass.

Come on, Sam, you know we can't ask that.

I don't know what their monthly rate is, but if it were in the 20-25k range, I'd think it would be a good choice.

Glad to hear it, Evil. Maybe short was just too short to see the sign.

To their credit, the management of Spanky's took some local advice and dropped their ladydrink prices to Pattaya levels, rather than keeping them at Bangkok prices. Yes, they are still in the high average range, but at least it's not so high that it's a red flag and a "one-visit gogo".- 76 replies

X zone Is open and has not closed as pubished by others
MM replied to xzone nev's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I am surprised Nev didn't come on here and rescind the offer, since it seems to have stemmed from a dialog between him and some board members here. My guess, it was the Secrets guys who ruined it Anyway, I dropped into Xzone last night at 11:45, and they clearly did not need a promotion at that moment. We could not find a seat in the main area, and were forced to sit on the far right side where the second stage was. They were quite busy, and doing quite well...without a Happy Hour being in effect. They had a very decent lineup as well. The reports of Xzone's death have been greatly exaggerated -
Yes, but do you have to take the tests again for a 5 year license renewal? I think that's what bratpack was saying. If not, then that is my question, since I have a 5 year coming up for renewal.

Sam, we need the name of a film here..not Nicholas Cage, an actor. Let's go with Body Heat, one of my favourites.
