admin (me) can change it, but it has to be for a good reason, since I can't be bothered with trivial stuff
-
So you won't mind if I show the complete map and IP address geolocation for where you are posting from, since it has nothing to do with you anyway?
-
My apologies to Canterbury Tales for the anarchy within this thread, but you will have to admit, it keeps your business at the top of the new posts.
-
I think you can work it out. Many others have.

An example of IP Geolocation is all. Want to see a bigger picture with street names and lat/long info?

That's probably a good question for a new topic, since it's asking about a boat day rather than a fast boat taxi. My guess is Barry wanted to get to the beaches on Koh Larn by speedboat. Something to do with his desire to spend a day on Koh Larn and asking which beach would be good.

You researched it for him and gave him a decidedly useless response. 8000B for a day for a speedboat that will leave and return at your convenience is nothing like what anyone who has an inkling of knowledge about "the realm of your business" would give as an answer, unless they were trying to flog a 12000b/day cruise boat by making it look like a good deal. The facts are, as several have attested, that a private speedboat hire is around 3k baht a day, if you know where to look, which apparently you didn't. DJ in his post may have made a recent inquiry...he didn't say when, but if you're saying the price has gone from 3k to 8k since he was here...well, that would be surprising. That's the beauty of these threads where they can actually inform, no matter how much someone tries to mask the facts, the truth will out. And, I didn't threadfuck the thread. If you look carefully, the guy wants to hire a speedboat, but you're putting up pictures of your slow boat as a response. That's about as relevant as someone saying he could take the ferry to Kah Larn. The topic was about speedboat hire. I'll leave the FLB stuff to another day, in order not to encourage you to threadfuck even more.

Of course I have looked in Purgatory... I do it regularly as a mod on the board. But, what I try to do is keep threads with decent questions from going that way, so they don't have to be sent there. I'd be happy to have a "chat" with you in Purgatory...maybe we could explore some of your "issues" there.

Sorry, Barrief, that this got a bit contentious. It was a good question. I think you should have enough information to have a good day at Koh Larn without paying too much.

I think it's the new China Garden Restaurant and Hotel . I went by there today on Soi Lengkee. It looks very nicely done. Until I read your post again, where you weren't sure of the name, I was still looking around for a Golden Dragon...almost had an accident or two gawking along on my motorbike trying to read all the signs. Sounds great, by the way.

Renting at the beach would be my recommendation. I, like nus01, haven't heard of any speedboat scams. You should pay at the end of the day, and make sure the renter knows that it is your party alone that will be traveling in the boat...no extra people on the outbound or inbound trip. As others have said, you should be able to get a day's rental for between 2500-3500b, depending on your negotiating skills and the prevailing supply and demand. I think these outrageous prices quoted by others might be based on going to a kiosk at Bali Hai and renting. That just adds more middlemen to the mix. Also, the high prices quoted make other alternatives look more attractive.

There is more than one definition.

Last year, on the 18th, I drove a car on 2nd Road from Pattaya Tai to Pattaya Klang, and it took 2 hours to get to Pattaya Klang and get the hell out of town. Then, Pattaya Klang was jammed up totally, and it took another half hour to get to Sukhimvit. This was about 3 in the afternoon. I think there will be gridlock inside Pattaya from the north to the south parts. Plan for a long journey once you reach town.

Stinky, STFU. You start this needling crap again and you're gone. Stick to monkey stories, you're good at that.
-
That's about where I encountered the tout renting speed boats. You strike a deal for the daily rental for your private party. The price has nothing to do with the number of passengers...one person or eight people is the same price.

Barrief, I've approached the speed boat operators on the Pattaya Beach and rented a speedboat for my group for around 2500b/day. This was about 3 or 4 years ago, so it might be more now...I'd be surprised at over 3.5k from the same style operators. That includes drop off the Ko Larn beach of your choosing, and a return trip in the afternoon, at your discretion. I did have one guy who wanted 600b more to go to the beach on the farther side of the island than the one he planned to take us to...something about more gas and time. The speed boat driver usually hangs out all day in one the restaurants near the beach. You wave at him or go find him, and off you go.

BTW, Leotex, Tequila Rose is now available in Pattaya, and we are stocking it in FLB as a shooter, so don't bother to bring any. That gives you more room for Camel Regulars

You're doing a very good job at fixing those posts.

I have taken to taking metered taxis (fixed price 1500b) rather than having a pickup scheduled. It's just so much easier than going around looking for my driver, then trudging to the parking garage. I'll try to get a lower rate than 1500b next time...but I'm usually so tired, I just want to get moving.

So, it has nothing to do with Pattaya, but these are beer bars without their own toilet facilities, right? The same issue applies...the toilet facility is not owned by the beer bar. Jeez.
-
I used to use a beer bar at Made In Thailand that had chits you'd give to the toilet lady so you didn't have to fork out any money. Of course, they were only given to customers, and probably only good customers, at that. I still don't know what short is on about this time, though I hardly ever do.
