  1. You can always go up to the arrivals and try to get a taxi there - around 900 baht on the meter and toll roads 145 baht I usually order a car from my hotel 1300 baht (hotel takes 300) + parking in airport + toll roads
  2. Last time England was winning over Sweden was in 1968!
  3. Bangkok Phils ajarn.com is the dominating internet site for teaching in Thailand. Probably you can find what you want there.
  4. It might be a special reason in your case to own the condo via a thai corp (even if I can't see one - except if too many farangs stay already) so first contact that person who recommended that solution and ask what to do. After that contact a lawyer or if you don't know any go to a meeting with Pattaya Expat Club and ask the members there for help.
  5. Nothing closed anywhere any time and alcohol was sold and served as usual friday was a national holiday monday and tuesday just holidays in BKK So many girls in bars especially in BKK went home over this extra long weekend.
  6. I don't need to sell - the income from those investments is what I need at most.
  7. Don't know but I bought these properties solely in their names (the youngest is 2 y o) and they can't touch it until 18 (or 21), but if we for instance want to borrow money with the property as a pawn my GF as guardian must go to the judge and ask for permission and if the reasons are good enough he may say yes.
  8. I agree about the hotels - Loy Krathong is on november 5th I think?
  9. Probably nothing will happen if you don't change ownership. After 3 months this is over - TIT! I've my property in the name of my thai children so no problem at all.
  10. I've been credited miles from bmi and SAS, if I remember correctly you can use the miles but such earned miles don't help you to renew a gold or silver card.
  11. Soi 3 near Beach Rd if some of you don't know.
  12. All TG tickets are now eligible for miles but the 2 cheapest classes (U,W?) just for 50 % of the miles.
  13. You must also check the tax treaty between UK and Thailand.
  14. Again - I'm swedish and analyze tax treaties for scandinavian guys who want to move to other countries. Domicile is always important as if you don't have acquired a new domicile tax authorities will rule that you must pay taxes on your capital gains in your homeland. If you do visa runs in Thailand I recommend guys to get a residentship and a domicile in an other country - Philippines is maybe the best alternative but some guys move to Cambo or Malaysia. Americans - if you live in some states claiming state taxes even after you emigrated you must first move to a state without such claims as such taxes is not exempted from taxation in the US tax treaties.
  15. I'm a tax expert but not on british tax law - but I can see one very important thing and that's your domicile - have you acquired a new domicile according to british tax law in an other country? Living outside UK is not enough for that.
  16. In Sweden the employer pays the first 3 week of every sick leave, after that the national insurance take over. We give employees 5 week vacation every year. However I've my own company so I'm never sick and instead I go to Thailand 5 times every year and stay 12-14 days each time. BTW we were not discussing any fraudelent action, if you're get sick so of course you must be compensated if the laws of your country say so.
  17. Maybe everything will be fine that day, but prepare yourself for delay in any case.
  18. So Omar, if you're lucky and no royal guest arrive or depart in the morning you can land on time else hours of waiting. Expect extra security checks for terrorists and if you're arab maybe extra delay. Immigration long queues. Traffic jams on all motorways in Bangkok area. In worst case many hours delay.
  19. Some more: "From June 11 to 14, only outbound traffic will be permitted on Sukhumvit Road from Nana intersection to Asoke intersection. No south-bound traffic will be allowed." "All trucks with 10 or more wheels will also be banned from Bangkok from June 8 to 13 and can only use the Ring Road between 10am and 3pm." The Nation

  21. If you have a travel insurance or maybe a such included in your home insurance you can also get a refund of your travel costs if you're sick more than X days. At least if you have the same insurances as we have in Sweden. That opportunity to be sick during a vacation was stopped in Sweden some years ago if you don't notify your employer and the national insurance authority - a postcard is enough I think.
  22. Actually the law was not changed - all land offices did not apply the law in the same way before, now it will be the same all over Thailand.
  23. Hi, there're several hotels with Marina as part of the name but maybe this?
