  1. Hi DG, no problem to read and understand but to post in dutch is worse. elef
  2. Just a small protest - Soi Buakaow isn't quiet, 2 days a week the market makes it far from quiet.
  3. "the only chaba hut I saw was on soi buhkao" Correct and here's the webpage
  4. Same owner but different hotels.
  5. Yes, they tried to sell the Elite card with that it was possible for cardholders to own land. It's worse than the other alternatives as the land is owned by the company issuing the Elite cards. So if the company goes bankruptcy you'll lose the land.
  6. You can't own any land in Thailand! You can however control it over a period of time if you use a good lawyer or the elite card but nothing more.
  7. Swiss Park is guest friendly if you book and pay for 2 persons - according to an other board. Nana is OK! Don't carry camera or anything not waterproof, but I guess you'll stay in your room anyhow....
  8. Yes, it's free.
  9. I use a thai-chinese dentist on South Pattaya Rd. He's good, cheap and fast. I check my teeth twice a year - 400 baht each time. A new teeth 4000 baht - in Sweden 6 times more expensive and in Denmark double that.
  10. My ex-TW walks around and can often gets a walk-in price which is half of what I can get, so if you travel with a thai wife, GF or just a BG send her in to ask for the room rate. Last time in Pattaya in february TGF booked Thai Garden Hotel 2 weeks in advance but still the price she got was 900 baht under the lowest internet price I found, without breakfast however.
  11. Hi, I remember that 5 years ago I as a guest of Sabai Lodge I got a discount coupon for Sabai Dee. Those days Sabai Dee was also on the Sabai Group's homepage, but not so any more. Same big boss owns Sabai Dee, Sabai Inn and Sabai Lodge. Also the nightclub and the restauant where you eat breakfast, but he owns more mostly on Soi 2 and he has bought back Weekender Hotel, oh the small island outside Pattaya I forgot. He's over 70 now so not seen so often any more in the area - he made big money by starting Sabai Room and sold it and later repeated it with Sabai Land. elef
  12. The information can't be coming from the forum as you not havn't given it here. I can see 3 different explanations: 1. Someone registered a handle using your real name as an alter ego. 2. Some spyware fetched the info from your computer and published it. 3. A fuckup in your computer so some cells from an other window appeared on the window of this forum. elef
  13. Hi, Chakri day and labour day (may 1st) are not important public holidays as king's or queen's birthday, election days and religious days, so probably the bars will be open - you don't really know and there may come a message from the police to close but I doubt it. A substitute day is just a compensation for the public holiday day is on a saturday or sunday so no reason for closed bars on may 2nd. elef
  14. Hi, 10 litres and you can buy at any time. They think they can stop children buying alchohol after school this way and stop drunk drivers in the evenings. And the law just apply to shops not bars. elef
  15. "Tesco Lotus does not let you buy liquor before 11 in the morning as an example." You can buy liquor any time in Best, Big C and Tesco Lotus - if you buy at least 10 litres.
  16. It was 2 weeks ago and I've a business card Cigar Corner Pattaya 2nd Rd (between Soi 10 and 11) 038-424364 038-424369 email: cigars@siamhavana.com If you check that HP you'll find reference to their 2 shops in Bangkok but not the one in Pattaya, email address however the same.
  17. Quiet and nice but far away from Walking Street is Thai Garden Resort 1800 baht for living room + one bedroom Nice bath for 2 or 3
  18. Hi, Hard Rock Hotel has a perfect pool area for kids, but stay somewhere else. Once it was Merlin Hotel and the size of the rooms is a complete disaster. elef
  19. You can take a bus from Pattaya to Buriram (and most other cities in Isaan).
  20. The only travel agency in Thailand I used is the one inside Thai Pan Hotel in Bangkok, but I don't have any info. I tried to find a list of travel agencies in Pattaya but just found this travel agency
  21. Sure Sabai Lodge is guestfriendly as the owner also owns Sabai Dee and many other places on Soi 2 - Sabai Inn and the nightclub 2 of those (also Weekender Hotel opposite Sabai Room, 2nd Rd).
  22. Don't worry, the bigger hotels in Bangkok have inhouse travel agencies. In Pattaya you'll find travel agencies everwhere - on some sois outnumbering the bars!
  23. I don't think such a website exists except for teachers (ajarn.com). So if you don't have any contacts in Pattaya I recommend that you walk around and ask yourself or hope some restaurant owners read your post here. As salaries for cooks are low in Thailand it's better to buy a restaurant instead - 50,000 USD and up.
  24. Hi, if you check amadeus SKP - BKK you'll find Malev Hungarian Airlines, Adria Airways and Macedonian Airlines (+ code-shares) in different combinations with several airlines. elef
  25. Thanks guys, that explains why I after more than 25 trips to Pattaya in 6 years never heard anything about that. Casinos can't open as gambling is illegal, but TGF was invited to buy land in Pattaya 2-3 years ago, a month or so before the governor announced his plans to build a casino in Pattaya. The government had plans for building casinos in 3 cities but not in Pattaya - I'm not sure where but I guess Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket? But still the law is not changed so it will take long - if something happen.......
