Maybe you'll get more candidates if we mention that Korat = Nakhon Ratchasima

Not sure, it's our lawyer fixing this so I don't know the legal technalities. Some say 18, but our children are much younger. I know it's almost impossible to sell the land as long as the children are underage, GF must in that case go to a judge and convince him that it's for the good of the child that the property is sold and probably there'll be restrictions on what the money can be used for.

Yes, you're correct if you keep that condo, but it's normal to move and suddenly the new condo has become common property.

Sukhumvit Rd starts in Bangkok a little before Soi 0 and ends at the cambodian border after passing Chonburi, Sriracha, Pattaya, Rayong and Trat - the longest road in Thailand and there's no place named Sukhumvit along the road AFAIK. Wikipedia reveals the secret, Sukhumvit is named after "the fifth chief of the Department of Highways, Phra Pisan Sukhumvit".

Chas, good you pointed that out as Google Earth says image copyright 2007, but you're right Soi Zero is intact and it was 1 ½ year since they started to demolish the buildings. Took a lot extra as the owners by mistake made a much longer contract with the italian restaurant at the Beach Rd than everybody else - 8 months I think. Then we know that there're "roads" beside the railway 2-3 years ago which they can transfer to a more permanent road.
-
You can own as many houses as you want but never the lands - with the BoI exception if you invest 40 million baht via them you can own 1 rai. The opening post mentioned those guys using companies are now selling.
-
Tnx guys, if you check Google Earth you can see that there were small roads on both sides already before, but there're also areas with building very close to the railway. BTW, the normal distance between the railway and Sukhumvit it about the same as between Beach and 2nd roads.
-
Ok, maybe I not look around enough, I passed the railway on Soi Siam Country Club many times in february and didn't notice anything. It's not showing on Google Earth but the pics can be old so it's possible. Is it a normal road or motorway standard?
-
I think this is a misunderstanding, the new highway 36 Bangkok - Chonburi - Pattaya - Rayong runs east of east Pattaya. My hotel limo service has used it for the last 6 months for going to airport. If there will be a new road using the land beside the railway it will take years until it's ready - they haven't even started building it AFAIK, must be a question of more than 5 years. Sure it's needed, Sukhumvit Rd is a nightmare.
-
Which motorway? When I stay in Pattaya - 10 weeks a year - I pass the railway at least 2 times a day and sofar never seen any motorway under construction. Just checked Google Earth and can't find any track of it either.

If you divorce even that condo will be split 50/50 if you don't have a legal pre-nuptial agreement. I own land and houses and everything in the names of my children who of course are thai citizens. 30 year lease and an option for 30 more, the option is not legal today but not illegal either, it will be the situation after 30 years which determines if the option is legal but it may very well be. So better than nothing.
-
Wasn't a limo monopoly given to one in Thaksin's family? Somebody said that taxis must pay 50 baht for that guy. As far as I know it's still allowed to order a limo pickup from Mr Toom or any other service as long as you not make the arrangement on the airport. Or?

I'm a member of Secrets board too but haven't been there for a long time - too much to do in my company now - and not updated what's happening there. Still I don't think it's fair to discuss that board, admininstrators and members here on this board. Hotel and bar can be discussed of course but leave the board outside the discussion.

Retirement or Long Stay visa for people under 50...
elef replied to frostfire's topic in Expat Issues
There're 2 more possibilites - if you're willing to invest at least 40 million baht in Thailand via BoI you can even get permission to buy 1 rai of land to build a house on - buy a Thai Elite Card for 1 million baht and get a 5 year visa which will be renewed every 5 year -
Soi 14

I've arrived twice to the new airport and the time from landing until I was sitting in my limo was both times under 30 minutes.

There are some bars on Beach Rd open 24/7. -
Also note that internet speed inside Thailand is what you get, the international internet from Thailand is much slower. Check that you really get a faster international internet connection if you increase the adsl speed, most guys I know say no.

Sabai Resort is the old Weekender Hotel, Sabai Spa is the small building beside the hotel with a spa inside. I asked TGF to book a room there a year ago, she got a good price and was asked to come there and pay a deposit of 1,000 baht. The female manager of the hotel said that the price agreed was too low and she couldn't accept it and that the agreement was not valid. Weekender had a reputation that things disappeared from the rooms by thieving employees, Sabai Resort has inherited that reputation. True or not, never had anything disappearing there, not even from the mini bar.

Sabai Lodge is still good value for the money, but I haven't used it for 2 years. Yes some maids are not cleaning to well or almost zero, but the main reason for me to use an other hotel is that they have too many package tour groups staying there. Sometimes it's fully booked and can't fix a room for an old customer. Still if my new favourite hotel is full I could very well book in Sabai Lodge.

The airlines are collecting the airport tax on older tickets.

elef replied to Samsonite's topic in Airline Discussion
I got a free domestic biz class ticket from Thai this time and I booked a flight to CM on may 2nd and back on may 5th. The flight to CM is from DMK (TG 1116) and back is to BKK (TG 0127). -
In Sweden specialists now say that twinrix will have effect at least 10 and probably 20 years and they advice against a booster shot until at least 10 years.

From Europe Silver gives you +10 kg of baggage + something on waiting list Gold gives you + 20 kg + guaranteed a seat in at least economy if you book more than 72 hours before departure + sitting in SAS 1st class lounge in Copenhagen even if you have the cheapest economy ticket Oh, this is the 6th year with gold card, I had silver for one year - you just need one return trip from Copenhagen to BKK to get a silver card.
