Did you read this: "All rates are valid from 01 March 2006 until 30 October 2006." I guess the internet price is around 1000 now.

Any recommended new cheap hotels in Pattaya?
elef replied to plahgat's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I think you can still find some farang-owned guesthouses in that price-range, but in general Soi Buakao(w) is not so cheap any more. Some years ago many BGs shared apartments there as the rent was 3,000 baht, now it's at least 4 k for a very simple room with toilet. Now Naklua Rd Sois are more popular. -
I think but not 100 % sure it's the same place where I went to look a condominium 2 years ago - on 3rd Rd near North Pattaya Rd - price was around 1 million baht. The house wasn't ready and a thai guy had small ads placed all over Pattaya. The funny thing it was a local number in Phuket and a mobile number. A TG showed the condo and after that told me to phone the man. Even more funny was speaking with him as he discounted the price himself every minute. He in the end of the conversation even offerred me to rent the one bedroom apartment for around 8,000 baht/month if I rented for at least 1 year. Probably never sold a condo there and now is renting out. Not so bad place if you have a motorbike or a car but not over 12,000 baht/month IMO.

You even see new cars without numberplates - TGF said it can sometimes take 2 weeks to get the red plates.

Anti-smoking bans extended today (TNA) - Carefree days for tobacco puffers in Thailand are going up in smoke. Starting today, the law banning smoking in virtually all public places comes into force. Public Health Minister Mongkol Na Songkhla called on law enforcement agencies and entertainment venues to strictly enforce the law. Owners of entertainment venues failing to comply with the law may be subject to between 10,000-20,000 baht fine and those who puff a cigarette despite the law may have to pay a fine of 2,000 baht. Thailand has one of the toughest anti-smoking laws in the world. It is at the forefront of the region's anti-smoking campaign and has enacted a host of restrictions on the tobacco industry including bans on cigarette advertisements, bans on smoking in most public places and requirements that all cigarette packs include graphic photos depicting the ill effects of tobacco on health. Last year the government banned cigarette displays at points of sale, making Thailand was the third country worldwide to do so. During a press conference on Wednesday, Dr Mongkol said that smoking claimed 52,000 lives yearly as a result of cancer and heart disease. The government has to foot the bills of over 50 billion baht to treat those with lung cancer, heart disease and emphysema. “To make sure that the law is carried out to the letter, we need cooperation from all involved. If there is not a clear sign-posting, or no proper smoking zone and non-smoking zone in public places, owners of such venues would be liable to fines,” said Dr Mongkol. Virtually all public places would be declared non-smoking zones under the new restriction which becomes effective today, except personal offices, private rooms and designated smoking rooms. If there was more inside that email before at least there's not anything any more. I've sent you an email.

As you have the problem both with IE and Firefox indicates that your problem is related to XP and maybe the firewall. Can you forward one mail to (email removed) so will I try to open it - I've XP Pro, IE6.0sp2 and Firefox 1.5.0.9 and normally just use IE for gmail and yahoo, but had no problem opening my mail with Firefox.
-
What OS system do you use? Do you use Outlook or Outlook Express or maybe open hotmail, yahoo or gmail directly in IE/Firefox?

All beds I've seen in Thailand are 2 m long, the 5 feet must be the width. Khao San Road is the backpacker road in BKK.

3 golfers from canada need big house for 1 month
elef replied to cash's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Thanks Emil, I know it's american football but there stops my knowledge - have never seen any. I agree that it can be difficult to find a big house for rent for just one month. Maybe can rent from 1 february but still hardly under 6 months rather 12 months with a 3 months deposit. I know some thais having empty houses in East Pattaya but they don't want to rent for ST, but of course if somebody wants to pay 12 months rent (360,000-480,000) for one month's stay... IMO it's better to either rent it from a farang owner - maybe a BM - or a bungalow belonging to a hotel. We had a thread about a hotel with bungalows in this forum some weeks ago, I found it here's a link -

I never stayed there because an old reputattion of cockroaches, dust and joiner fees of 400 baht. On an Thailand/Bangkok board I've read that it's now clean but still has the joiner fees. Still a lot of guys stay there because of the location - near Beer Garden - and the pool, 1400 baht is a good price so even if you have to pay joiner fees it's still not expensive.
