  1. Hello Paul and Jan and congratulations on your future bundle of joy! You and Jan are always the ones I contact when I need a taxi service to Pattaya. I enjoy talking with Jan when she took me last Feb. 1st to the Jasmine Mansion. But she was not available to drive me to the airport on Mar 2nd as that was a scheduled doctors appointment for Jan. I hope to return soon and will contact you and Jan to see if you are available when I come again. Thank you for the great service you have provided me on my trips to Pattaya.
  2. I say it ain't so! Airbus has already offered discounts on A330-300s because they are delayed in bring out the A380 orders that they "promised".
  3. I read a newspaper article that said that airlines are now making it more difficult for people who have large amounts of frequent flyer mileage by restricting their usage and lowering the number of available seat to them. Over time, since frequent flyer mileage have been offered, the number of people who have usable mileage has grown to the point that the airlines are losing money if they allow everyone to use their mileage a any given time. So they now are restricting the usage so that they don't lose as much money when people use their mileage. It seem like the airlines have created their headaches with frequent flyer mileage to me!
  4. I returned from staying 30 days at the Jasmine Mansion on Soi Baukao which is between Soi Honey and Soi Diana. Their prices are very reasonable and they are a full service 24 hours/day hotel and rooms start at 650 bahts a day with weekly and monthly rates. Check out their website at... http://www.jasminemansion.com/site/ I also like the Soi Diana area like you.
  5. I went to the Siam Commerical Bank on 2nd Rd near Central Pattaya at the beginning of Feb. 2007 and asked about opening an ATM account and they required a sponsor with a permanent address in Pattaya. I could not use my hotel address to open an ATM account. What Siam Bank (and it's address) should I try next time I am in Pattaya to open a ATM?
  6. I just spend 30 days at the Jasmine Mansion and their beds are very good. Not to soft and not rock hard like many of the beds in Thailand. The girls like the beds there too!
  7. I returned March 2nd, 2007 and it was included in my ticket even though I booked the ticket back in Nov/Dec.
  8. Just around the corner from the LK Metro is the Jasmine Mansion where I just spent the whole month of February at. I wasn't able to get a full month at LK Metro but I was able to book the Jasmine Mansion. I am very please with my stay at the Jasmine Mansion and would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice full service hotel at a reasonable price. Check out their website at... http://www.jasminemansion.com/site/
  9. Well, I arrived Feb 1st at around 10:45 am and after getting through customs I spotted Jan right away as she had on her orange shirt just as Paul said. Jan remembers me from the time she picked me up from the Majestic Suities, on my last trip to Thailand and Pattaya. We quickly made our way out to her car and in no time at all we were on the road to Pattaya. She had me in front of the Jasmine Mansion hotel in no time at all. Great service as we talked about things on the way to Pattaya.
  10. I would agree with Picoman in that I have a regular service I use. I know everytime that they will be waiting for me when I arrive at the airport and will provide me with the best service possible to get to where I am going. I'm sure that when you are at home that you you don't take the cheapest means for everything you might do. You have certain places that you like to go and do things and cost is not an option because of that.
  11. Same for me as I sent e-mail about a month ago for reservations for Feb! I contacted two hotels and they got back to me real quickly with what they had available! I made my choice and I'll be there this coming Feb 1st!
  12. The airline I fly to Asia is Cathay Pacific, so I fly to Hong Kong first with a few hours lay over before my flight to Bangkok. So I guess my answer would be layover! The flight I take leaves San Francisco around midnight so I will be up a little bit eat something and then sleep most of the way until an hour or two before landing where we are served breakfast. I like walking around Hong Kong airport since it such a nice airport and check it out for anything I haven't seen since my l;ast trip. I then board my flight to Bangkok and arrive at around around 11.00 am get thought customs and get picked up by my driver and away we go to Pattaya!
  13. The Dynasty Inn is ok but not any where near as nice as the Majestic Suites. The room I had at the Dynasty Inn had dark wood panel which made the room very dark even with all the lights on! It'll do for a night or two for an emergency stay, but I wouldn't stay there for any extended period. Maybe the Majestic Grande would be a better choice if you need a nice room.
  14. I agree with the replies that have been posted so far. I'm bring just shorts, t-shirts and golf shirts plus underwear. I'll have a jacket but that's because I'll need it to get to the airport (it cold here right now) and on the airplane. This trip I'm going to do what a lot of my friends do then they go to Asia. They bring old clothen that they really don't need and throw it away and buy new clothen when they get here to take home.
  15. I stayed there on my first trip to Pattaya in Feb/Mar of 2005. Nice hotel with a very good staff to attend to your needs. You're right in the thick of the action on Soi13.
  16. I believe that the Oriental in Bangkok is the number one rated hotel in the world, last time I watched a show on the Travel channel. That's for service and I would think that the price is way up there too!
  17. Nice report! I tried to book a room at the LK Metro Apartments for my up coming Feb trip but they didn't have I wanted so wanted. So I'll be just around the corner at the Jasmine Mansion. The Soi LK Metro area will be on my list of places to hit while I'm there having fun in Pattaya. Hope to meet fellow BM while I am there!
  18. I priced real Mizuno and Cleveland clubs at a Sports shop and they were right around the listed retail price as in the US. I could find the clubs used cheaper in the US then purchasing them in Thailand.
  19. I'll be checking for your updated prices. I enjoyed your service when I was there this past Feb/Mar and will contact you when I come back to Thailand.
  20. Hard to believe that if only 1% of your golf ball is visible that it will find your gold ball as it says on the website! I don't lose to many golf balls so I'm not sure it worth the cost for me!
  21. When I made my 2005 trip to Thailand I brought one 26" suitcase, but purchased so much stuff that I purchased another large bag to get the stuff i bought for the family and relatives. So when I checked into Cathay Pacific in Bangkok the girl at Cathay almost freaked out that I was 22 kg over weight for two bags. I really don't blame anyone except myself because I was the one who bought so much! I paid about $85 UD dollars to get from Bangkok to Hong Kong for the next part of my trip! Well while in Hong Kong I purchased a carry-on bag and put a lot of stuff in that for when I left Hong Kong to go back to the states. I'm sure that I was a little over weight on the way back to the states when leaving Hong Kong but Cathay in Hong Kong let it slide knowing that I was returning home after being gone for about a month!
  22. I like the website you mentioned here! It's nice to see the current rates on a lot of the other websites so that you can compare!
  23. Here is what I found on the Eva website concerning luggage... FREE BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE The baggage allowance depends on airport and destination. Two allowance systems are in use: Piece System: For travel to and from the US and Canada and certain countries in South and Central America, the baggage allowance is per piece: Super First Class: Maximum of two pieces of baggage. The sum of the three dimensions of each piece may not exceed 158 cm (62 in.) and the weight of each piece may not exceed 32kg (70 lb.) Super Business Class / Business Class / Premium Laurel Class: same as Super First Class. Note: Using the piece system, a passenger traveling in Super First Class, Premium Laurel Class or Super Business Class / Business Class is entitled to carriage of one extra piece without charge while traveling on EVA-operated sectors. However, if you are connecting to/from another carrier, EVA cannot guarantee this privilege applies. Evergreen Deluxe / Economy Class: Maximum of two pieces of baggage. The total baggage size, measured separately and added together, cannot exceed 273 cm (107 in.) The sum of the three dimensions of each individual piece cannot exceed 158 cm (62 in.) and the weight of each piece cannot exceed 32 kg (70 lb.) Each infant is entitled to one piece with the sum of the three dimensions not to exceed 115cm (45in.) The Free Baggage Allowance might be different for a variety of carriers If you are connecting to/ from another carrier. Please contact connection carriers for details. Weight system: For regions/countries other than territories in the US/Canada and certain countries in South/Central America, a weight limit applies: Super First Class: 40 kg/88 lb. Super Business Class/Business Class/Premium Laurel Class: 30 kg/66 lb. Evergreen Deluxe Class: 20 kg/44 lb. or 25 kg/55 lb. on an EVA-operated flight. Evergreen Class: 20 kg/44 lb. Each infant is entitled to 10 kg/22 lb EXCESS BAGGAGE CHARGES Baggage in excess of EVA Air's free allowance will be subject to additional charges. The piece system charge is based on the piece, size and weight exceeding EVA's free baggage allowance. Over Piece : The fee listed in EVA's Air Tariff will be charged for each piece exceeding the two-piece allowance. Over Size : One charge applies to each piece larger than 158 cm/62 in. but weighing less than 32 kg/70 lb.Three charges apply to each piece larger than 203 cm/80 in. and/or weighing more than 32 kg/70 lb. Over Weight : Three charges apply to each piece that weighs more than 32 kg/70 lb. but less than 45 kg/99 lb. Additional charges will be assessed for each 10kg/22 lb. or fraction thereof that the piece exceeds 45kg/99 lb. The weight system charge is calculated on the basis of each extra kilogram exceeding the free baggage allowance and can vary with the route. Different regulations apply to special baggage, e.g. golf clubs, surfboards, windsurfing equipment etc. Please contact EVA Air for details. Note: Whether your luggage will be assessed by the piece or by weight, we recommend that you not pack any single piece of baggage heavier than 32 kg/70 lb. to prevent injury to yourself or to baggage handlers. Any single piece of baggage heavier than 45 kg/99 lb. requires advance application with EVA so that we can make handling preparations and reserve space onboard the aircraft. Because of structural limitations on some types of aircraft, any single piece of baggage heavier than 45 kg/99 lb. could be denied loading. Please contact EVA Air for details. Because of structural limitations on narrow body aircraft MD90, EVA does not accept any liquid material shipped in drums as checked baggage. If you are traveling from the US to Bangkok you get to take up to 32kg per bag with a two bag limit. This is the same as when I travel out of the states (international fights) on Cathay Pacific. But the website doesn't say anything about sporting goods where some airlines which allow you to take golf clubs with no weight limit. American Airlines was that way and I hope they haven't changed! Will have to recheck their website on that! But we're talking about Eva here! I now remember that I was not charged extra flying Delta when going to Hawaii from California and I had a 20kg limit on my normal baggage. That's because they had the same policy as American on sporting goods. And I know my golf clubs weighted more then 20 kg on that trip!
  24. Thanks Papillion! I've noted that information on Keerati Home Stay and will try e-mailing them to see if they have a website.
  25. I was searching around and found what looked like the offical website for the new Suvarnabhumi airport. The website is pretty nice and even includes an introduction video which is almost six minutes long. Check out the website at... New Bangkok Airport Now if they can get my luggage out in time for me to catch my cab to Pattaya, I'll be real happy with them!
