were to book one way ticket to england from pattya
spacebass replied to unziped's topic in Airline Discussion
I would say buying it in Pattaya would be cheaper, try Massic Travel on 2nd Road about 1km before you get to Big C festival, on the right, by Grand Soliel Hotel, coming from Pattaya, go to www.pattayamail.com there will be a button for them there somewhere, but try and book in advance going in at short notice is unlikely to produce good value. -
The story with Honda is parts are expensive world wide and if you buy from a dealer pay the money and drive the car away do not go away and come back later, so they can take stuff off it.

Two bad elements in my Etihad experience to add to the pedestrian cabin service:1) Driving round the airport in a bus at 2am in the morning to board connecting flight coming in, even though Abu Dhabi is supposed to be Etihad hub, no gate, and 2) Plane broke down on runway at Abu Dhabi (Big shiny 777) on return to Bangkok and had to sit on Tarmac for 1hr 30mins waiting for repair, (that we didn't know was going to happen until it did), both of these circumstances would not be able to happen on direct flight. By the way Etihad is a 3 star airline indicating that the great service experienc

It is without any question worth paying GBP50 extra for a direct flight, I have flown Etihad I found it an average experience, I have never had the opportunity to fly direct for +50 and I would like a shot. Especially if the stopover is in Abu Dhabi and you do not like cigarette smoke.

Wiring Money in Thai Baht for Condo Purchase
spacebass replied to sanukcanuck's topic in Expat Issues
The land office interest in farang companies owning land does not extend to condos. Although not an ideal solution. From what I hear people are walking into banks with foreign exchange cash and getting a letter/ tor tor 3 that satisfies land office to put in their name. You look hard enough you will get through. -

Shortly after you turn onto Beach Road Jomtien on the left there is an Italian flag illuminated sign with Pizza written on it, mounted on a lampost, the Pizza Restaurant which does take aways, is about 70 meters up the Soi on the left you can see another similar sign from the road. Stone oven, thin crust genuine Pizzas my Thai wife loves em. Sadly for me pineapple not available when I was last in there which I like but not very genuine Italian maybe!

I would try and book ticket on western internet site such as www.expedia.co.uk and either try for an e-ticket you could email or fax to her or they do deliver internationally for about gbp30. But ideally I would look on Massic Travels website: http://www.pattayamail.com/massictravel/index.shtml get an idea from there phone them up from England and discuss availability pay for the ticket and either get them to deliver it or your wife go and collect it. I believe Massic Travel to be 100% reliable they are located about 1km back towards Pattaya on the same Road (2nd)/side as Big C fe

We went Bkk / Phuket with Air Asia waited 6 hours for flight, Air Asia girls new at check in gave us some garbage about King being at Airport disrupted schedule, but taxi man in Phuket says happens all the time, so it looks like if flight not full enough it no fly!!, A much better bet at almost any premium I think it stops at Samui on the way where I personally would get off. Clue: in Phuket many prices ++ and tours in U.S.$!!!!!

Hey check out www.smutvibes.com could get good for Thailand if people knew / used it. Genuinely totally free with actual naughty birds on it. Space

As with all middle east airlines its really the stopover that is the determiming factor, 4 hours in Bahrain and worse Abu Dhabi, a place you do not want to be if you do not like cigarette smoke or most any other reason. But on board I would say Gulf Air - average in economy. Got delayed at LHR (ATC computer broke down) and missed connection in Abu Dhabi, Gulf Air looked after us very well in quality hotel. Plus join frequent flyer club on line and get extra 10kgs of baggage free straight off

Most plug sockets in Thailand take 2 pin round (Euro) or 2 pin flat (U.S.) plugs. In these sockets sometimes the flat pins wont fit (because some of the two pin blades have one bigger than the other, which some older sockets do not, if you have the choice buy the one that has same size pins) and sometimes the round one won't fit, (because it might not be exactly the same size, usually bending the pins out a bit fixes that). I think the euro plugs make a better mechanical fit. Most adaptors come with a plug in mains lead terminated with a 'figure 8' plug on the other end, as sugges

Visa on arrival - new regs question
spacebass replied to Trvlr's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
So how long will the queue be at border crossings as Immigration people trawl through everyones passports to ascertain how long in the last 180 days the presenter of said passport has been in Thailand? -

Visa on arrival - new regs question
spacebass replied to Trvlr's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
You are talking about a 30 day visa waiver not a visa on arrival which is required of some countries citizens. and costs money. It is worth studying the distinction as you could get confused. sp ace -
Consider the 1st and last flight of the day with Bangkok air are promo cheapies, so if you can suffer waiting til 6am in the morning or 10pm at night (approx) for these flights makes a big difference in cost, compared with having to dive into Bangkok for a day or so just to get over the tiredness, I waited all night for the early flight, but so nackered it eased the pain. This was in the old airport. I think the promo is internet only, personally , as I did , I would book the cheapie on internet and grit teeth for wait. If you plan to visit Pattaya anyway you can fly to Samui form the fa

I know Fair properties quite well, and agree with latter part of the above response. As far as anything can be predictable in Thailand the essence of Fair Properties v others is, for example that if you check into your room and say there isn't a kettle in it and you want one, the chances are they will get you one pretty quick, or say the shower heater breaks down they will get it fixed reasonably quickly, they do try and provide service to their customers, of course as anywhere you do pay a premium for this. So if you're coming for a month pay the money for an easy life if you're com

Anytime Breakfast in Pattaya?
spacebass replied to cali_dude_1's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
For me the best Breakfast experience in Pattaya til 1pm is the Lek Hotel Buffet at 110bht, by the pool. What screws the fixed breakfast is the 3 extra cups of coffee at 20 bht each (or so)!! A baht bus maybe 1-1.5 kilometres down second Road on left. Must do at least once. -
Dear TC, I think you must be missing something. Buy a condo in your own name, there is virtually no circumstance that can justify buying the company route. There is no problem whatever putting condo in farang name at land office. There is no benefit at all in buying via company and quite a lot of downside in paying ongoing taxes and maintaining the company, although it has been specifically written that the recent 'scare' only applied to house/land transactions, who even needs to be considering it? The only reason to go the company route is if you find a condo you 'must

Taxi drivers the world over as a group are not the most reliable group in the world. We use Mr Toom because he promised at least relaibility and no rip off. It is clear he for whatever reason can no longer guarantee that his personal vision can be maintained. So now he becomes just like the rest of the taxi operators. It would be a good idea for Mr Toom to use this board to explain his current service, including how he intends to reinburse board customers who are clearly ripped off by his drivers, as he did when he strarted the board business. This is his problem not ours.

A landlord has to cover himself, tenants are probably even less perfect in the way they behave. E.g. you give someone a great rate for a 12 month let and they decide to leave after 7 months, you should have enough in the deposit to cover the discount he is trying to rip you off for. If the discount was 1000 bht a month for long term that in itself is 7000bht. Plus deposit for smashing up the place and doing a runner with a huge aircon electricity bill, and the rest.

The best deal is just to go with the best value local brew , the others are just ramping it up on hype. No one would give you a light for a Heineken in the UK, (although it is nearly half the strength as here as are most ordinary beers). Here I think the most underated beer is the one with what looks like LN on the can 'Thai Beer' and one of the cheapest, around 34bht a big bottle however it is 6.5% and does blow you away and is slighty suspect on the hangover front. I also thing Singha is quite good, it has a good 'hopsy' palate when the bottle is opened and the first sip is taken. i
