1,200 baht for taxi from bangkok to pattaya?
bangkapiboy replied to toom's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Decent price. That is the price I have gotten from taxi drivers all the time, 12000B total. -
North Pattaya 3rd road is a very very cool area nowadays, developing fast. It is fast developing into a trendy area with new restaurants and clubs. It looks like a lot of the new cool trendy clubs (I think geared toward middle class and upper class Thais) are around there. Good place to be at.

what are the best day trips in pattaya??
bangkapiboy replied to jelluk's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Not really a day trip exactly, since it's just across Sukhumvit Road from Jomtien, but I absolotely loved Lakeland cable ski a couple days ago. It was my first time water skiing. It's tough, and I am discovering muscles aching that I completely forgot I even had. -

condo running costs
bangkapiboy replied to wannabeexpat's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Upkeep of the condo building and communal areas should be a main consideration. Also the type of people you will be living with in the building should matter to you. Some low end condo buildings might have undesirable people living there. So -- just take your time and look around plenty. Luckily in Thailand we have very low maintinence fees, compared to what I'm used to in New York. My friends in New York are shocked how low the maininence fees are here. Anyway I find prices in Thailand don't really compare well -- not good to compare what you get here prices with in a western countr -
You'll never see a thai woman topless sunbathing, but you will see farrang women doing it in Pattaya and Jomtien. There are plenty -- even getting massages while topless on the beach

Don't day trip to Koh Samet. Stay at least a night there. It is a really nice island to simply relax on! The mini bus to Koh Samet pier from pattaya is still 150B last I checked a month ago. They pick you up anywhere in Pattaya/Jomtien. Just stop and ask at an agency. prices may vary from agency to agency, but it is probably still the same mini bus.

Welcome Plaza rooms are the pits, but the pool is surprisingly awesome. I found the staff rude and unfriendly there. Anyway, arriving at 2am I think you'd better at least reserve 1 night somewhere. You can use an online travel agent. priceline.com.sg had good prices last time I checked for pattaya.

Where to live for 6 months pattaya or Jomtien
bangkapiboy replied to fzbkk's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Going from Jomtien-Pattaya the cost on the baht bus is still just 10B 24/7. Baht bus drivers will like to tell you other prices, in case you ask them -- but asking just tells them you really don't know. I haven't had any break-in experience since being at View Talay. There are plenty of security cameras now on each floor on each bulding though since last year. -
fzbkk, Price also depends on the BTU of the a/c, and the temp you set it at. Anyway, at least 3,000B would probably be your price for electricity, I would think.

proper sleep helps with any sickness. partying all night every night will make anyone sick after a while i think.

siam sawadee how is it?
bangkapiboy replied to justin case's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
There are no floods in Bangkok or Pattaya right now. But there are major floods in the south of Thailand! -
impossible. but hey -- good luck! :)

With that said, I love the Mecure hotel chain anywhere in Asia. And it's brand new in Pattaya!

June is fine -- just hot, but so what? A/C will be everywhere you go inside. Any decent hotel has a pool, so a quick swim each day really cools your body off. Fortunately lots of sweaty girls, but unfortunately also lots of sweaty men.

I've seen good prices on priceline.com.sg for Pattaya. Most of the prices seem to offer breakfast too.

Travelocity's low "fare alert" is what I use.

English women in Pattaya?
bangkapiboy replied to derrian's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
One thing is for sure in Pattaya. There is something for EVERYONE. Pattaya is not just a sex tourist destination, but it is a major one. Keep an open mind and you will be fine. Anyway, Pattaya is just plain fun. If you are thinking of going to bars, you are very welcome at any of them, I am sure. Will you get hit on? Probably. Most of the bargirls would hit on anything that moves. -
I would go for the ice cream! I am a sucker for ice cream.

I would love to go to one of these sometime. I need to get a decent size bike for my 6'3" tall body. I don't want to pay exorbitant import prices though, but just a mtb that I can ride and use. Any recommendation on where I can get an oversized frame to fit me? The Thai sizes just won't do...

Train to Penang is a great visa run trip. Easy and comfortable with your own bed overnight on board. But now with the muslim rebels in the south, already having set bombs on train tracks previously, Thais won't take the train anymore. I don't know how full the train is anymore, really. It's a shame.

All I know is one has to do a little research when buying into a development that is not completed. Here in Thailand it's all about reputation. Without that reputation, then the company really has nothing to lose. With a decent repuation of completing projects and maintaining them, then you can be just about sure the developer will have things go just as planned. The balcony with a jacuzzi would be a dream come true!

President Park, Davis or Sofitel ?
bangkapiboy replied to OJ's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hey OJ, The Davis has a top quality buffet for 299++ lunch and 399++ for dinner. It's probably the best deal in Bangkok as far as food goes. I can't comment on guest policy or rooms, as I've never stayed in any of the real quality hotels in Bangkok, since I have a home in Bangkok. The Davis is right across the street from President Park. The big plus about staying at President Park is that you get access to the Capitol Club (I'm a member: http://www.capitolclub.com/). It's regarded as one of the best "leisure fitness clubs" in bangkok. Location of both The Davis and Presiden -
Baht bus drivers overcharging?
bangkapiboy replied to Mescalito's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
because any chance for words to be discussed gives them the chance to hassle me for a different price.
