It seems like eternity since I have been in Pattaya (Last December), and I finally am able to return November 14 for 2 weeks or so. I tried to make a reservation at the Sawadee Sea View, which sent me an email advising of availability, but requiring payment in advance for 14 days. This does not seem right, as I want to be able to move Hotels after a day or two if I am not happy with it. My requirements are: Price: less than 1000 Baut/ Night. Internet: Have in room broadband internet connection (Prefer Wired to Wireless) included in the room rate. Guest Friendly of course. L

partyanimal - I go to Taipei 3-4 times a year, and have not heard of the free showers - Can you tell me where they are? As for Internet access, I am usually so beat from a 16 hour flight, that all I can think of is getting through customs and to Taipei. A shower would be healpfull though...

I do not agree with Explorer - When I stayed there, I had a room on hte upper floors, and did not hear any road noise, nor any other noise from other guests. As for Walking street, you can access it from Second road, so taxi's are not a problem. The rooms are a little long on the tooth, but I found them fine for the price. I might stay there again if I can get the right price....

Aeroflot is a O.K. Airline - They make it to your destination most of the time.

A question Wombat - I noticed that the room had a desktop computer - Is that yours or is it included with the room, and does it have broadband? Thanx

You are assuming that flight costs are associated with actual costs such as Jet fuel - Not so - prices are set by many reasons -competitive presser, keeping market share, etc. During the winter, you will see almost free flights us-Europe from JFK to London, but often double or triple the cost of getting to JFK from your home town, even though it is a fraction of the distance. My conclusion - setting air fares is completely arbitraty

I spent 10 years crossing the Pacific pond from LAX to Hong Kong to Sydney to Hamburg, traveling in steerage, business and first class. I traveled on most known airlines (and some not so well known as Trans Asia Express from Hong Kong to London). I never was asked to pay for any drinks. (I only during beer and wine in copious quantities)

They work fine – Just make sure that they and your computer have a USB 2.0. If you have the older version, it will take forever to transfer the data (I’m assuming that you are using a USB drive). They also make a very good backup drive for all of your data that you can plug into any computer and transfer files.

WHERE IS THE CENTER OF ACTION
MrMango replied to MAGNUMMAN's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
In December 2004, I stayed at the Diamond Beach Hotel, right off of walking street for 3 weeks. They have an old and new wing, with the old one being 800 Baut and the new one 1200 Baut (High Season). I stayed in the old wing, which was a little long on the tooth, with the first 5 floors being remodeled, and the carpets a bit old, but fine for me. I liked it very much with not much noise and a massage parlor right off the lobby and Heaven’s Above Go-Go 5 meters away Very convenient to bring back a joiner. My only problem with the location is that in 3 weeks I did not work my down to S -
I purchased a box of Accuview contacts from the shop in Mike’s shopping center in December (I believe that they also had an eye checker there, but if they were an optometrist is unknown). The cost was at least as expensive as the U.S., but my prescription had expired in the U.S., so it was convent for me.

I have flown Dynasty class several times a couple of year’s age when I had to commute to Taipei fro the U.S. 10-12 times a year. You get more legroom to try to sleep which is very nice, but it still is China Airlines, rated one of worst Asia Airlines IMHO. I would try to find a flight that was not booked too full, get in the center section with nobody else there and then sleep across 4 seats – Works great if you can get it. The other alternative if the flight was full was to get a seat on the emergency exit. I would stand my big briefcase on end, put a pillow over it, and put m

Donny - Why else would I cum to Pattaya (No pun intended) In December, I was there for 3 weeks and got wanked 23 times – Pretty good for a old man…

As for quality, it depends primary on which codec the VOIP service provider uses. The standard Telco requires at least 60KB bandwidth, plus control bytes. The newer compression technology requires as low as 8KB with quality almost as good as standard PSTN lines, but your service provider must support them. Incidentally, this technology is just starting to go mainstream, and I predict that within a short time, quality will be much better than standard PSTN, as providers switch to different codec’s, such as a variation of MP#, which would let you have a phone quality to a CD – Assuming t

Hi guys – Being the old fart that I am, I need to repair or get a new partial dental plate. When I was in Pattaya in December, I visited a small dental office on the side street between Beach Road and second road and Soi7-8. The prices were incredibly cheap – about 500 Baut for a couple of hours work – The Dentist also was a cute little girl. Does anybody have any experience with dental plates in Pattaya – Time to make, cost, quality etc? I plan to return in May and may postpone any work in the U.S. until then, if I can get good quality and price. Thanx
