  1. I feel your pain with this incident, I’ve been lucky with lightening only ever lost a modem in ten plus years of renting/owning houses here. Surprised the ink was still visible or readable on your receipt jacko, always a bug bear of mine in Thailand. Always promise myself to take a photo of receipts after buying something new, but never get round to it. Like the quote “the tv is not for you it a smart tv” 555. Regards
  2. Harvey if you think it’s an embarrassment, you should try being Scottish lol. Regards
  3. Cheers jacko, No sign of them on facebook at all, their help forums via their home page has zero topics in any of the sections. Still no joy trying to resolve the problem, but to be honest I haven't been trying all that hard. Think I will just wait until my membership lapses in a couple of days then delete everything from the computer and sign up for another VPN provider. Thanks anyway. Regards
  4. Just started James Clavell's 'King Rat' again, first read it about thirty years ago, thought it was about time to revisit it. Regards
  5. Cheers for the input jacko. I forgot to mention in my post that I've emailed fastukvpn.co.uk twice explaining my problem with no reply, hence the plea for help here. Good to know that True are not blocking access to any VPN's. I had a quick look the other day at IPVanish service along with a few others, would you recommend them overall ? Regards.
  6. Apologies not exactly a tech problem with the board as such. Here's my problem. I have Tunnel Blick VPN installed on my i-mac, I connect to it via fastukvpn.co.uk which I have two profiles downloaded a and b which I used to be able to switch between if one was slow. For the last week or so I cannot connect and keep getting a Resolving Domain Name message which just keeps trying to connect but never does. I have googled this and to be honest am no further forward in resolving my problem. Are there any tech heads on the board that could explain in simple terms what is going on? Is it my ISP blocking the access ? I'm with True visions if that is any help. This looks as though it's way above my level of very basic expertise. My subscriptions to fastukvpn.co.uk runs out on the 6th August, if I can't find a solution before then I will try another VPN and hopefully will not have the same problem. Any help/answers will be much appreciated. Regards
  7. Tropical storm Sonca in full flow !!

  8. Just did my 90 day report on Friday the 23rd June, the barcodes have still to reach Nakhon Phanom, first I've heard of them, won't hold my breath waiting for them to appear here. Although I'm normally in and out in 10 minutes or so, their office up here is not exactly heaving with expats. Just thought the online option might be handy if away on holiday when my report is due. 4.0 the junta says it's coming ha ha ! Regards
  9. Thailand 4.0 ?? Hardly surprising when I see them still using Windows XP operating system on their computers, probably not even a legit copy either lol. I asked about online reporting at my local immigration office in Nakhon Phanom the other day. A big big no no, I must come into their office, felt like they are trying to keep their workload and jobs secure. Regards
  10. This is Thai deli online, they say they deliver anywhere within Thailand. Not tried them myself, delivery is 390 baht normally or free if order is above 6000 baht, interesting to see if they could get to Nakhon Phanom lol. http://delishop.co.th/home/ Regards
  11. Yes used it loads of times, great if you are only travelling with hand luggage, but if you have a suitcase a pain lugging it around Phaya Thai or any other stop either to the sky train, taxi or bus rank downstairs. Pity they stopped the direct service, now the city link service which stops at all the stations and can get really crowded depending on time of day. Still great value for 45 baht. Regards
  12. For some folk, yes you're spot on. I know myself when I was transiting often (10-12 times/year) between the two airports I actually preferred the free bus service, not just for the lack of a charge, but it saved me being exposed to Somchai Suhumacher taxi driver tailgating at 140KM/HR in the pissing rain on Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road. Hopefully it might be of help to somebody. Regards
  13. Found this today and thought it might be useful to some BMs, I know it will probably change in the very near future but at least it's up to date as of today. I have included the actual link below incase the maps don't load on the post. http://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/2017/06/02/get-bangkoks-airports-tired-taxis/ ALL AIRPORT BUS OPTIONS FOR THOSE TIRED OF TAXIS By Sasiwan Mokkhasen, Staff Reporter - June 2, 2017 12:42 pm Share on Facebook Tweet on Twitter Shuttle between Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khaosan Road runs for the first time Thursday. Photo: Matichon BANGKOK — The first new shuttle hit the road between Suvarnabhumi Airport and the backpacker mecca of Khaosan Road on Thursday, to the rejoicing of many. The new S1 bus route launched shortly after the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, or BMTA, added two new money-saving routes from Don Mueang (DMK) Airport for those who can’t afford – or just don’t want to – take an airport cab. That makes for six shuttles and other services serving travelers. So to celebrate more transportation choices (and relieve some confusion), here’s a breakdown of the services now available for reaching Bangkok’s two airports, from air-conditioned public shuttles and express “limo” buses to inter-airport transfers. Air-Conditioned Public ShuttlesThere are now five routes between various points in town and the two airports. Run by BMTA, the routes operate on orange, 35-seat buses. They will look familiar to residents as the same buses are used along other routes. The biggest pro is the very affordable price, while the many stops made along the way may be a deal-breaker for impatient travelers. Here are all five routes, with the routes shown on interactive maps thanks to Bangkok City Bus Guide. S1 Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) – Khaosan Road – Sanam Luang Pick-up: Gate 7, passenger terminal, first floor Stops going into town: the “Burger King side” of Khaosan on Tanao Road, then later on its other side near the Chana Songkhram Police Station. The service is supported by the Airports of Thailand Co. Ltd. The 33-seat bus currently only departs from Don Mueang Airport. It is three times the expense if the public bus but stops less often. 14. I use Kodi via my Mac-book pro linked into my TV set, works ok for my needs. I can also watch via the laptop screen anywhere around the house if the wife is watching Thai TV. I also have it installed on my i-Mac desktop computer. Never used a android box at all. Regards
  15. The power companies involved at suppling power around the area where their data centre is located are now saying there was no power surge/outage in the supply line at the time BA claim. As you say butch, don't think we will ever know the real reason. Their share price has dropped 5% today wiping millions of their value. Regards
  16. Hi jacko, Ye, it now requires registration for you to watch, which is no big deal really. I have registered and it has been streaming for myself with no real problems. They are now after donations, as they say it cost them 1000 euros/month to get the streams, if they don't get enough donations then it will be cut off from the 1st of June. So maybe back to square one from June. Regards
  17. Sand, sand with camel shit, sweaty expats, overpriced brand name shopping malls and hotels, huge industrial gas plants and sand. Ideal start to your holiday lol. Regards
  18. Cheers for that link jacko, first impressions it looks okay. Regards
  19. I have also noticed that jacko, just after getting everything saved as I wanted it on my new smart TV. Ah well, back to the drawing board, there must be some other feeds out there or Kodi add-ons that don't use FilmOn hopefully. Regards
  20. All done and dusted up here in Nakhon Phanom til next year now, superb. Did 115 KM on the bicycle club run this morning, nobody in any of the villages we passed through throwing water, although it might have been welcome in this heat lol. Regards
  21. Managed to stay dry up till now but likewise mainly housebound, last day today for water throwing in Nakhon Phanom thankfully, back to normal tomorrow. Regards
  22. Ah, that explains it, didn't think anybody with any knowledge/experience of the flight industry would book them economy class long haul. Your experience on the plane mirrors mine exactly. Regards
  23. BA have been shit in economy long haul for donkeys years. I used them once for a flight to Bangkok in the eighties when it stopped there before going onto Sydney. I swore then never again BA for long haul, and kept to my pledge. Didn't have much choice though when doing short legs to Heathrow from ABZ though. Surprised you even considered using them, I thought you worked in the flight booking game? regards
  24. Some of my closer Thai friends have substantial credit or so they tell me, but they still manage to service that no problem. The rest of them, I'm not sure where they get the cash from. Quite a few of them seem to be a lot better of than myself, but then I have no credit to speak of. Regards
  25. Ye, even living up in Issan is not cheap anymore. As Gary alluded to in another thread, the place is awash with money, Centra Shopping malls and Robinson lifestyle centres full of brand name outlets nearly in every town these days. Where the money comes from I don't know, it's definetly not from some tourist paying 1000 ST or tipping a motorcyc driver an extra 30 baht. A lot of my Thai friends in the cycling club seem to have a never ending supply of cash for top end bikes, accessories, houses, holidays and parties whilst holding pretty normal jobs/ businesses. I have three separate income sources and just about manage. Once the daughter is finished her Law degree at a private University in Bangkok and maybe manages to get a job then "hopefully" my budget will receive a very welcome monthly boost, still another 2-3 years left of her course. Still what price can you put on an education these days in Thailand. Regards
