  1. Executive Economy? What is the difference Is it worth it?
  2. i booked from NYC to BKK for peak holiday travel departing 12/26/05 and returning 01/10/06. The best rate I could find was $1,000 even (all taxes included), but not a direct flight. I stop over in Inchon for 3 hours before arriving in BKK at midnight. Thai airways non-stop is around $1,700 for the same dates. Cathay airlines is offering a 1-stop from NYC to BKK for $945 that arrives in BKK at 6 pm (much better)! I email Jing but got no response so far. I can only imagine prices will increase since Katrina so buy fast! -Pat
  3. Appreciate the tip, but before I call maybe you can tell us how much YOU paid for your USA-BKK flight through Jing?
  4. thanks for everyone's input. the majority overwhelmingly suggests the Nana is NOT bug-infested and is an "experience" I should not miss. I continue to agree based upon the survey results. And if the BG refuses me cuz I'm in the Nana, I will find another. Besides, I'm sure every BG knows that cheap hotel means more Baht for girl. I'll be there for New Year's celebration! -Pat
  5. I tried for over a month to make a reservation at RG but they were already filled for NYE and early January (peak season). I had to settle for the Areca Lodge. If they're that busy already, they must be really good
  6. Many people have told me the Nana Hotel is a "must" for a newbie because its sort of its legendary icon status. And I've been told the go-go there is excellent and the hotel is centrally located to NEP and the Parking lot However, after making my reservations for 5 days, I now come across posts that say the rooms are full of cockroaches? I don't mind noise and party-all-night neighbors (I may join them), but the though of the pestilence crawling around my face while I sleep is a bit much. So, if I do come across a roach will I get my money back? (from what I've read so far THAIS do g
  7. i have been trying to get a reservation with RGI for over 2 months. It must be fantastic because they are booked foreverf!! Flipper Lodge is also impossible to book with.. I have tried, belive me...

  9. soon? Low season, high season or "peak season". (makes a difference..up to triple)! From what little crap i know from reading these boards, I suggest majestic suites. if price is of little concern, check this out...http://www.ghotw.com/hotel/rates/mandarin-oriental.htm i think the price is somewhere around $500 USD per night.
  10. Areca Lodge seems to be everyone's recommendation. I have not heard 1 single bad thing about it (aside from a possible chicken coop next door and a long walk to bars). That said...the price has dramatically changed since a few months ago (apparently). I have booked a room facing the pool for 1,695 baht per night during the PEAK season (01/01/06 through 01/10/06). That is a lot compared to my other 2 choices; Sawasdee sea View Wing B for 900 baht per night or the Honey Inn for 750 baht per night. Question to the experts..Is the Areca worth B1695 vs. B900 for Sawasdee vs. B750 for Hon
  11. Just curious. Assume a person in the US retires at the age of 55 and has saved well. He has a pension and collects SS (reduced due to the age, but nevertheless). Say his American dollars equate to $5,000 per month or $60,000 per year (60K X 40Baht = 2,400,000 baht per year). Assume single with no dependents. Is this enough money to live comfortably in Pattaya?
