  1. June is my market and I have been watching... Cathay is running around $1300 from NWR and JFK. Thai is always expensive and direct from JFK to BKK for $1600 (US) all in (17 hours Non stop). Delta from East Coast for 27 hours is under $1300 all in. Delta arrives in around 11:30 pm, Thai comes in around 6 pm... (good for another day, really). Always a difficult choice. I have FF miles with Delta so I'm stuck until I can get a free flight. I think THAI is a better deal...
  2. The Lobster Pot on Walking street quickly became my favorite. Yoiu get a "sea view" (actually gulf view) table with 2 waiters/ress attending to your every need. Lobster and Steak for B1500 includes all the trimmings. A little pricey by LOS standards but most excellent by every degree. Cooked exactlly tar-tar as requested, the steak was phenomenol. However, they serve their lobster (everywhere in Thaiand?) without drawn butter. Not good in my opinion. Had to ask for that and was given a queer response. lol. a cultural thing, i guess. the Lobster Post is located on Walking street.
  3. for that most unpleasant slight I may not tell you of what happened to me on SOI 6 in Trinity Arch Bar during my first night in Pattaya.
  4. I don't think you need TCs. Just bring a few debit cards and you'll be fine. No problem with ATMs at all, and there are many! (remember to tell your bank you'll be going to Asia so the transaction won't be flagged by bank software as possibly fraudulent).
  5. Can't say too much about Sabaii Lodge as I only stayed there one night in January of 2006. I came to this hotel upono default from literally running as fast as I could from the Welkon Inn just next door. Both hotels are located on SOI 2 and have many common advantages to other lodings. To wit, close access to both beach road and 2nd road. Sabaii Massage just a few meters away, about 5 beer bars on the same SOI, many nice bars along 2nd road. 10 Baht will get you to walking street in about 5 minutes, or you can walk and do a bar crawl down beach road and get there in about 30 minutes. Bu
  6. Don't know about Kiwi, but everything I've read so far indicates that airlines offer their lowest deals between 30 and 60 days prior to your departure date. I can book now for $1,200 US for June flight or wait to see if price drops. Last time I booked early the price did decline and I got screwed, but you never know. I'll gamble this time..Good luck!
  7. Yes, I certainly did. Just attach yourself to a Koon Thai and when they move, you move (quickly).
  8. Areca lodge at B1600 during high season was, in my opinion, a good value. Very guest friendly (they take IDs of all guests and make you sign as well), the hotel offered all the amenities one might expect from a 3-star hotel. Breakfast from 6 - 10 am was excellent with a combination of both Western and Thai foods. Plenty to eat buffet style assured you could fill up in anticipation of the long day ahead. 2 pools on site. The one in the back is by far the best as it has a jacuzzi and attendant service. The pool in the front is not as nice but still clean/ok. The lobby is fantastic
  9. Recently stayed at 3 hotels in Pattaya and all offered service. My guess is they all do or can arrange the service. Between 1200 and 1500 as recently as last week for private limo and all tolls included.
  10. Even in the shadow of my death do they laugh and hark.
  11. $50 per day for hotel. $50 for food and $150 for drinks and ass each day. But I tink to mut.
  12. personally, i don't ever want to give up the privilege and opportunity to have a child. Afterall, it's "up to me".
  13. Is that a "bag of ball" in the right hand corner or a foot? Christ. disgusting!!
  14. Say something bad about the Areca Lodge? I dare you! the wing in the back has personal in-room safes. something else?
  15. I am a CPA in the US and if you pay me enough...I can make you millions!!
  16. I have thrown an element of excitement to my trip as my reservation at Areca and Residence Garden EXPIRE on 01/10/06, but my plane does not leave until 01/14/06! I certainly hope I can fine a room at the last minute during high season! If not? well....so what!!
  17. I did a lot of research on accommodations before I booked at Sawadee Seaview. Many people had opined this was a great wing and an incredible deal. I was booked and ready to go. I still think (based upon my dogged research) that this is a fine hotel. In the end? No pool on site. I need a pool for those hangover days when I can't move and just want to feel the rented tits.. Went to Areca...
  18. no clue. I would recommend you try the "expats issues" forum and PM some expatriates.
  19. Perhaps you should check with his highness before making any assumptions. I arrive on 12/28 and will already be in BKK when you arrive. Please PM me for personal correspondence.
  20. After NYE in Bangkok (staying at the Nana), looking to share a taxi to Pattaya on January 1st. please IM me if interested.
  21. Newark (EWR) to BKK $807 all-in. that's a lot cheaper than the DEC/JAN fare! What a difference a month makes!
  22. For those of us who are still awaiting our first trip, your personal experiences (Good And especially BAD) are greatly appreciated. If you could share some of your "mistakes" with us, then perhaps we would be less inclined to do the same.
  23. If you're leaving from the East Coast (as I am), that's a good deal. However, if that's from San Fran or LAX, it's only average, assuming we're not talking 1st class here.
