  1. I don't think i spent more than 1 hour at a time in any bar. But for some reason I do recall the Trinity Arch Bar (or Trininity something) on Soi 6 as being memorable. On my next trip in June I won't be in such a hurry
  2. Along the same topic (but not quite).... Somewhere on 2nd road up around SOI 3 or 2 on the right hand side there is a large building that proclaims "Laser Witening" and Dentistry. I think the price is 10,000B, which is cheap by USA standards. Anyone try this? Is it worth it?
  3. Can you please educate the ignorant (me) and explain TESOL certificate? Also, is bi-lingual US/Thai required? thanks.
  4. paid in advance for a superior room at Sabaii Inn for July through Sawasdee.com for b1150 per night. Went to the sabaiin.com website and find I could have booked same same for b850 (internet special)! I always assumed the hotel consolidators used their buying power to secure the lowest rates. Lesson learned. http://r24.org/res24.com/pattaya/sabaiinn/ http://www.sabaiinn.com/
  5. sorry. double post. please disregard.
  6. Good thinking! Plus, if you do move hotels you will undoubtedly visit "new" places during your daily meanderings. Personally, I don't like to stay in the same hotel for more than 2 weeks. New Hotel = new soi = new sanuk
  7. Sabai Inn in early July is asking 1,150 B per night for superior room. Probably shouuld not have paid in advance.
  8. I actually tried a bag of fried grasshoppers (well, BG had the bag and fed me some). Really had little taste as I recall. But, I remember seeing the occasional food cart with BUGS or INSECTS being cooked/sold. Does anyone actually order this stuff?
  9. shit! That price is now DOWN to $1,004.50! My June 29-July10 flight on Thai will cost $1595. What a difference a few months make!
  10. R/T from Newark and 10 days in hotels (5 in BKK and 5 in Phuket - BKK to Phuket flight included) for $1789 from 6/29 thru 7/10. $150 less from West Coast. Looks pretty good. http://www.go-today.com
  11. If anyone really cares, FYI (Traffic Accident Risks in Developing Countries) http://www.ictct.org/workshops/05-CampoGra...asconcellos.pdf
  12. PHL to BKK for May travel at $912 is a great price (even with the 4 hour layover in Tokyo and the 11:30 pm arrival in BKK). That same United Flight Costs $1547 just 1 month later (June 29 - July 10). Shit! What a difference a lousy month makes! Cheapese I can find out of Phil is Delta at $1256 (and it's a loooong itinerary). Why do prices go up so much from May to June?
  13. Actually, I've read/heard many good things about SOI BUAKHAO over the last few months. Is it worth a look? Is this going to be the "new place" to hang out? Is it worth a visit?
  14. THAI airlines Non-stop from JFK to BKK (17 hours) for $1595. Delta can do it in 23 hours for $1300 from JFK and $1100 from PHL. Agree with previous posts as it pertains to THAI. (only accrue 1/2 the FF miles with Royal Orchid). Paid $1000 from PHL to BKK for Dec/Jan flight, but ticket was purchased before prices spiked. This is a pretty good site.. QIXO.com Aslo, StarAlliance.com will check all the flights for partner airlines.
  15. I have been in Amsterdam during the last 5 days, so I did not have the privilege of reviewing these replies. Amsterdam is very cool and I recommend you visit soon. As far as visiting Thailand, I agree, no one cares ( or should). I have been there and I"m willing to prove it. I suggest paypal. Any takers?
  16. I am willing to provide unreproachable proof from the embassy in Thailand itself if my detractors will immediately agree to apologize to me and other board members for the unnecessary distraction and deliberate high-tech lynching of an honest account.
  17. I have provided you with a link that verifies 1 phone call can cancel all visa cards. this information is also available on the US embassy site in Thailand. (Many said this wasn't possible and called me a liar). http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21294 I have shown you sneakers for sale that contain a zippered compartment (for hiding keys). (Many said no such things existed and called me a liar). http://www.rogansshoes.com/Store.aspx?cate...&productId=1696 I have sent you pics and some of you have recognized the girls. (Many challenged me to post pic
  18. Tried to send you a PM on this topic but you can't get them (yet). The subjects on which you seek enlightenment can not be discussed in this area. Go to member's area for talk on bargirls and bars in general. Short critique of Welkom Inn: Go next door to Sabai Lodge, pay a little more and you can use all the "extra" facilities at the Welkom Inn.
  19. Delta offers either 17.5 thousand miles if you sign up/approve for AMX and up to 25K if business AMX card is approved. They partner with many airlines, including Korean and China. http://www.delta.com/skymiles/ways_to_get_miles/index.jsp US Airways offers 15K miles and no annual fee for mastercard approval (plus 1 mile for every dollar spent). Partners with Singapore and Thai. http://www.usairways.com/dividendmiles/dmcreditcards.htm
  20. From JFK to BKK non-stop (17 hours) THAI uses the new Airbus 345-500. individual screens, 135 degree recline in economy with 36" pitch. Not much difference between this economy and premium economy (except the price). check it out... https://www.thaiair.com/Travel_Destination_...thai_to_nyc.htm
  21. I checked into what you said and found you are correct! I was able to book THAI air non-stop through US airways dividend miles operator and get full dividend miles credit since they are a partner airlines. Thanks for the info.
