I think the business concept is good as is. Not the best location for anything too hifalutin (can hardly wait for atlas to try & trace word origins on that ). If there are specific issues, then fix those and move on.

All I can say is that the number of my visits to the place have been limited (and never for breakfast), but I haven't had a bad experience. If it were my business, I'd make it a practice to drop in on every shift at least now & then. But based on my experience, the place certainly isn't dead, as suggested by the topic title.

It is a good, well articulated post. And its content is sensible. Just a bit however, IMO, on the moralistic side and not particularly helpful, except perhaps to the newest of the newbies and those that haven't traveled outside their home countries much, to neither of whom was the OP really addressing himself. The OP wasn't really describing a matter of taste, but rather of quality, both quality of product and quality of service. Moralising about one's expectations and behavior in a 3rd world country kind of serves to trivialize, however politely as in this case, the OP's complaint. You may a

Now you know how the newspapers (& other media) do it...

Royal Suites, Metropole & Empress are more expensive alts generally to Renaissance I think. I had no real complaints with the latter & would stay again.

It's the thought (with a tip of the hat to manner of expression...) that counts...

'Thought I tried that, but will hit a thread with full pages concentrating on the quick swipe thing. Thanks.

Started using Chrome awhile back when PT went to those new servers, and more recently on my tablet. I can't seem to find anyway to quickly scroll back up to the top of the page. Dragging my finger works of course, but on a full PT page that's VERY repetitive. The default android browser has a scroll button that can be dragged the entire pagelength in either direction, but not so Chrome, which just has a small/narrow and non-draggable scrollbar & position indicator. IS THERE some way to get back to the top of the page quickly in the android version of Chrome?

I used DHL to send some docs back to the states the other day. They won't have arrived yet, so can't yet comment on their dependability, but the girl I dealt with certainly SEEMED on top of things and was able to answer all my questions. Expensive! But if the docs get where they're going on time, I'll be satisfied.

Was in here last night around 9. Pretty well packed. Some seats at the bar, but every table taken. Small group I was with ordered a variety of things: maybe nothing to write home about, but tasty & more than acceptable. Service was excellent: friendly, attentive, prompt, accurate. Portions were more or less as expected. Perhaps a whole different scene at breakfast time. ?

No visa issues with Cathay Pacific. Missed the connection once in HKG a few years ago and they put me up in a hotel downtown. No problems at all. In fact, I overslept but the hotel got me up and into a taxi to make sure I caught the flight. More recently, planned a 2-day stopover in HKG on the way back to LAX. I don't recall having any big delays or issues with customs or immigration there.

And here I thought this was going to be about something entirely different...right up until the photo...

Interesting Trip to the Local Clinic

...WRT AIDS/HIV risk: if you buy the connection between AIDS and vaginal intercourse. I understand the OP's issue with condoms, but just not sure I could put that much trust in a spot STD check. -
Am not at all versed in all the different economy fare classes, but I know Cathay Pacific displays a fare matrix online that spells out what your itinerary change options are going to be for each specific fare. If I remember from this last go around, there were 3 such choices ea for economy and premium economy.

Club Misty's Madness Happy Hour
tomcat76 replied to PSP's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I was in last night and impressed with the line up. The problem with girls approaching customers completely unbidden is that it does put the customer in the ogre-ish position of saying no when either the girl eventually asks for the drink, or the mamasan or staff girl comes along and does it for her. Once the girl is on her way, then all the other girls, including ones you WERE interested in, assume you don't want to sit with ANYbody (either that or are intimidated by the fact that you shot down one of their mates and so unwilling to take a chance). Some minor variations on this scenario but -

I'll apologize in advance: I'm really not trying to change the topic. But I just got done reading the latest posts to the Heathrow Customs thread. Can you just imagine a customs guy such as the one described going through someone's bags and finding a collection of these? -
Yes. Shower configuration not a big deal for me - not like I can't take them. WOULD be nice to have a microwave.
-
Am at LK Renaissance now. There's no "separate shower", but the jacuzzi style tub has a wand which can be pulled out and mounted in one of those vertical trolley things that lets you point it where you want. But yes, you stand in the tub to take a shower, and there's no shower curtain or divider.

I have to issue an update... I came back around 4 in the afternoon that day, and there was some pounding going on at the Soi Diana end of the property. It couldn't have started before noon though. Only someone staying in the original Areca wing could've been at all bothered by it, and I'm not sure that wing even has any rooms facing that way.

Until a few years ago, you needed a visa for Guangzhou, even just for 3hr stopover, and you could NOT get it on arrival. Well, you could, but not according to the rules, and you were treated like a minor criminal. That's changed now, but I wouldn't fly through there again if I could avoid it. HKG and CP a better, if more expensive, choice.

Just came from BKK and there were police seemingly "stationed" about every 10m up & down both sides of Suk, at least from Nana to Asoke. 'Never ever seen so many. Not sure what 3-stripes denotes, but most seemed to be of that rank. Still saw the streetsellers selling their ED drugs, dildos, DVDs & whatever, though perhaps not quite so prevalent as on previous visits. Also didn't see as much of the usual hooker population - at least up through early evening - and absolutely NONE of the usual blacks. I didn't pop in to any of the pharmacies, but have never had any issues buying stuf

'Just checked in yesterday (Evergreen wing), and while the construction site is certainly there, and if I walk out my door I'm looking at it, I don't see much going on at the moment, and there's no noise from there. (But one noisy baby on the floor - ten times worse than any rooster - does that count?)

... And some just can't sleep on airline flights (not in economy anyway). Aside from that, my flight on CX yesterday was flawless. From online check-in & seat selection, to airport bag drop-off, to disembarkation here in BKK. I'll get flamed for saying this I'm sure, but even the passenger complement was better - not a single case of whooping cough heard on either of the legs, and only 1 screaming baby (who thankfully was several rows back). Even the food was tolerable (given the crowd airline meals run in these days, which doesn't set the bar very high). PS No waiting at immo eit
