Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

I was in the back building facing Soi 12 and traffic noise wasn't an issue at all. It could be an issue if you're facing Beach Road, but I don't know first-hand.- 15 replies

Chrome has been my default browser for years. Firefox got too bloated and the devs haven't been able to recover. The recently released Safari 6 is super-fast and has a few features that tie into your iOS device, if you use one.

If you have status, you can check in three bags up to 70lbs each. How many bags do you bring? Depending on where you're connecting from, the wait is 1.5 to 2.5 hours. I prefer that. There's some buffer time in case of the flight coming in late. There's also time for a shower and a snack. I've never heard of this charge. Would you please explain it in more detail?

United can be bad or great depending on your flying patterns. For Americans that rack up miles and attain status, it's still the best choice, despite the decline in service. United and Delta are currently the only American carriers that service BKK with their own metal (correct me if I'm wrong). If you do any domestic flying in addition to BKK trips then United is the better choice. Redeeming miles and earning miles is much better on United than Delta. The upgrade possibilities are also better. If you only fly occassionally and don't care about miles/status then take an Asian carrier from

Internet was wireless and included in the rate. The routers were open and didn't require a password.- 15 replies

Aloft Bangkok Impressions and Photos

I don't think any of us tried the noodle soup station. Bastax tried the stir fry station. The first time we went, they ran out of creme brulee to MM's disappointment. The next day, the manager brought over a plate of creme brulee right to MM. That was a nice touch.- 6 replies

I spent three nights at Seven Zea Chic Hotel on Soi 5, closer to Beach Road. The rate was $47 on Agoda and the pictures looked nice. While the building is new and the pool is fantastic, I wouldn't stay here again. The bed was a step above a marble slab. Ouchie. + Lovely pool with a beach view + Guest friendly + Can stumble to Soi 6 + Super friendly staff - Too far north for me - Bed is a frickin' rock - Internet system only allows one device per guest account, which is a problem for nerds that bring laptops, tablets, and smartphones (yes, that includes me) The room is pretty b

Several boardies spent the recent election weekend in Bangkok. Several of us stayed at Aloft on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Aloft is a spin-off of Starwood's W Hotel line. Think of it as a budget version of The W. The vibe is fun and young...and cheap. I paid a rate of 2,000 baht per night (not including taxes) for an Urban room, but there are lower rates available. The location is convenient for Nana, Cowboy, Beer Garden, and more. The hotel is across the street from Bed Supper Club, where I use to go with a civilian ex. Bed and the rooftop bar at the Fenix are great places to watch civilian eye ca

I recently spent three nights at LK: The Empress. I generally like the LK Group. I lived in the LK Metropole for a large chunk of 2006. I've had good stays at the LK Renaissance and great ones at LK Royal Suites. While it's a nicer hotel and would work well for many people, I don't think I'll be staying at LK The Empress again. One of the reasons I like staying at LK hotels is that they have soft beds, which is unusual for a Thai hotel. While the beds at the Empress are softer than most you'll find in town, the ones in the Royal Suites, Metropole, and Renaissance were softer and better. Ot

Here's the site -- with a map -- to avoid snarky comments. http://www.atmindgroup.com/ A friend of mind checked out the hotel and snapped photos. I'll ask him to comment.

I've been on http://www.v2cigs.com/ for almost three months. I've had about four "real" cigarettes in that time. You still get the nicotine -- which isn't great for you -- but you don't get the tar, carbon monoxide, etc. It's worth a shot if you've had trouble quitting in the past. Here's a code for 15% off a V2 starter kit if you're interested: 645999.

I've used ITA Matrix to price out routes that don't automatically come up on United.com. Once I get the route information, I manually book a multi-city trip to get the price, if need be. A travel agent should be able to do the same thing.

http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ This is generally better and more flexible than Expedia or Priceline.

Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel/Day Room
MC_Ldop replied to baz's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I used the Ivory Suvarnabhumi Hotel for an overnight layover from Phuket. The price for the night was $33 USD, so it's possible you could get it cheaper for a few hours. There's complimentary shuttles service to and from the airport included. -

Thanks for the review and pics! -
In the Clijsters match, she went upto the line judge, squeezed a tennis ball, and said she wanted to shove it down her throat. She also used a lot of profanity in her tirade. This was definitely an improvement.

Williams was wrong and I think she'll see that in the replay. She and her father admitted that it didn't matter. Stosur was playing out of her mind. Yeah, she threw a tantrum, but it was much better than how she dealt with the foot fault situation against Clijsters.

FF6 is much faster than the previous version. It's pretty close to Chrome in terms of speed. Like you, Chrome is still my preferred browser, but it's nice to see FF improving again.

Bose Quiet Comfort headphones are one of the biggest rip-offs out there. The sound quality is mediocre for the price. I highly recommend using in-ear buds with foam tips. The foam blocks out external noise without sacrificing sound quality. Etymotic, Shure, and Ultimate Ears are a few good brands to look into. Each company offers models at various price ranges. Generally speaking Etymotic offers the purest sound quality, but some people dislike the flat response. Shure an Ultimate Ears offer more bass, which is nice if you're into hip-hop, dance, techno, etc.

Did someone not pay to have their sheets changed? -
I absolutely can. HBO has passed on more Klitschko fights than it has carried in the last three years. Meanwhile it has carried every crappy Paul Williams and Andre Berto fight because Al Haymon has a tighter relationship with the network.
